Hey, just looking at Sandown on google earth and noticed what looks like an alternatve track! everyone who has run there would have seen the false left just after you go under the bridge and into Dandenong well it looks like there used to be another track there. have done some quick research but all I could turn up is some references to a "sandown long design" wonder if anyone knows anything about this and might have a layout drawing? probably goes back to the original track in 1962? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandown_Raceway see pics below with my scribbles as well I know the horse racing subsidises the place but if it was up to me i would get rid of the pony club and reinstate the original track. Although that run into Dandy is awesome

Cams Approved Fire Extinguisher Bracket
DattoP510 replied to DattoP510's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
pics below with the seat slid all the way forward, no issue on the R34GTR with standard seats. I know some after market seats have levers etc at the front which may be an issue. will get feedback from a few R33GTR owners who are running these already regarding this issue and post here. planning to trial fit on some othe nissans soon........ -

Does anyone need a CAMS approved fire extinguisher bracket for their R33, R34 or Stagea? CAMS scrutineers are currently cracking down on poorly mounted extinguishers. This bracket has recently passed CAMS scrutineering at Sandown and Philip Island. The comment made was “that’s what I like to see, nuts and bolts” Because I couldnt find any for sale i developed my own and had a few extras made. The first batch have all sold quick to the VIC based guys so i am thinking about getting some more made if anyone is interested?? These will go for $90 ea inc M6 high tensile bolts and nuts. Postage is about $10 nationwide but will confirm with your postcode. Suits R33, R34 platforms and also should fit M34 Stagea? let me know if your keen?

hope you can make it, keen to check out that Nur of yours. looks like some serious mods have been done. btw how did the fire ext bracket go at deca?

Snowy's R35 sounding awesome on Saturday. You can hear it coming from Siberia! <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HHF1zCwBxxI?hl=en&fs=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> yes its a phone vid so sorry for the quality.you actually get buffeted as it goes past.

yeah great day and everyone seemed to have a great attitude. Stoked with a sub 2 min first time at the island. Thanks Chris for the coaching!
-
If anyone gets grief from scutineering on the day i will have a couple of these with me! Got through no worries at Sandown Also have a couple of early (rough) prototypes that I can lend on the day or let go cheap cheap see you there!
-
Thanks for that, I see you have the M35 Stagea, nice car! Even if your not tracking your car you dont want it come loose in an accident! CAMS schedule H says the bracket must withstand a deceleration of 25G so if the extinguisher weighs 5 kg? then thats 125kgs of force. I havent tested this (and hope i never do) but am very confident it would be fine because it is solid as a rock. anyway the bracket that comes with the extiguisher will give before my seat bracket does. hey you made me think, it may fit older Stageas. arent they based on the R33 Platform? does anyone know if you can bolt R33/34 seats stright into a stagea?
-
You will need to use this bracket to mount the one included with the extinguisher that you buy. Not sure about the Bunnings extinguishers. CAMS required at least one metal clip to hold it in place. a picture etc....

Does anyone need a CAMS approved fire extinguisher bracket for Philip Island? CAMS scrutineers are currently cracking down on poorly mounted extinguishers. This bracket has recently passed CAMS scrutineering at Sandown and the comment made was “that’s what I like to see, nuts and bolts” Because i couldnt find any for sale i developed my own and have had a few extras made. these are for sale $90 ea to cover some of my costs and time. Suits R33 & R34 GTR and should also fit non GTR? I have M6 high tensile bolts and nuts so will included these.
