1. Heya, Your right, the best way NOT to get pulled over is not to drive it, and the Police tell me this mostly on each occasion but express it as " sell your car or get used to it" and comments like " we don't like these types of cars and you will be stopped each time we see it" that's hard to take given i have not acted in a manner unsafe or caused attention by being a hoon. Im 44, being a hoon isn't really my thing but i do enjoy a nice ride, don't have much else .....And i consider myself to be well principled in that if i have not committed an offense don't stop me! each time i am stopped and checked they can clearly see i have no record, no outstanding antythings, in fact before owning this car i have never had constant contact with Police in my life. I belive i have the right to own the car i chose and given the amount of times im being stopped i also believe i should not be discriminated against, even 'blackmailed' in a sense "sell your car OR get used to it" That 'reasoning' being supported by some/many (not all) members of the Police is unacceptable and a morel breach of civil liberties.... and human decency
2. Some good news at hand, your off the force. Again if you really are interested READ THE FULL POSTS!!! There is no continue to drive illegally!!!! Last Thursday the issues were raised. Today is Monday.
3. That does not surprise me, I saw an article Current Affair spoke about last week on TV saying the State of NSW has a target of 430 million dollars in mind from driving offenses next year... The police are going to have to bring most of that in, so ppl tailgating you, filming you, doing whatever it takes to raise money will become common place (and is) not just for people who own performance cars but every motorist.
4. Last Thursday at the DECC i became aware of the issues. And Friday spent the day in Royal North Shore Hospital post injuries..... Saturday, no issues, yes i went out on a short trip to the city and back. Sunday went to collect the new air intake box. On my way home, was defected despite me telling the cops i was actually trying to make good. This week the car will comply. BUT it will not stop me from being pulled over. I have to travel 3 to 4 times a week into lots of areas of Sydney i have no choice. The car is a daily driver. So in each day, is it acceptable to be stopped for NOT committing an offense many times in each day.... As for car issues .... is it really justifiable that my intercooler 'may be' in excess of emissions or that my Pod Filter is not in a box? REALLY? is this the Governments best shot at Climate Control and Change? As someone here said a standard SUV will admit more emissions into the air than a turbo Skyline.
5. Your a cop, i seriously don't expect you to understand so thats ok too. As this is the first performance car i have ever owned, i was not aware of any issues with the car. I thought by having it inspected pre purchase would be fine and any issues raised. I also thought the ENG Cert would be fine (as suggested by the cops them selves) I can see your point clearly, and i hear it each and every day from the Police to back you up. But if you read the first posts i made here, you can see (despite the car issues) i was working on complying the day i found out there were issues. I`m not superman, i cant make these things happen the moment i become aware of them (over the last 3 days 2 of which were Saturday and Sunday.) and all this carry on still doesn't address the harassment its over the top for my car being stopped!!!!
6. I think ppl like me get the attitude the NSW Police force is against them because of the amount of times they are stopped or are confronted by Police in any given day. It becomes a bit much when you consider it is only based on the model of car you drive and that you are not committing any offences at the time of being stopped. The eng cert will safice in court and the matter will be dismissed but again its not the be all and END all! I think suggesting cops focus on crooks is a great idea, glad you mentioned that.......! Imagine if they didnt revenue raise (Hwy Patrol) and dedicate their rescourses to Detectives, Ballistics, Crime Scene etc etc how many more REAL crimes may well be solved. Leaving honest citizens alone would be an even better idea. So long as the Gov needs money Hwy Patrol and others will continue to revenue raise. So long as cops want to be promoted, same applies. Its wrong but i dont expect cops to agree with that it would be in good concience to do so.
7. Welll i know how u feel. Short story, i was stopped the other evening on way home. Was eating a piece of chicken in car, cops kept going up down up down and glaring at me each time. They parked waaaaay down the end of the street, turned lights out and waited. I finished, turn lights on, they come speeding up toward me, so i turned lights off and got out. They looked as they went by. Got back in car, waited for 3 mins, they came past again looking, they parked again and they waited. I turn on head lights, they come speeding up toward me again, i turn lights off get out they continued past staring at me. Third time, they park again (this is such a joke as to the attitude) but this time i didnt get back in the car, i waited away from it, and they left. I waited for a good ten mins, got back in car, turn lights on, i pulled out and all of a sudden they came up the other side of the road, they attempt a MASSIVE and FAST U Turn right behind me, but another car came down pretty quick so they gave way. When i saw that, i "got away" pretty quick, the last thing i saw was their emergency lights on over taking that car as i went left right left right, totally lost them also with some speed behind me...... So you see, its making me actually do things like that, that normally i wouldn't consider or have cause to do. I know my car had the power to do it and i sure used it. Wasn't going to put up with more of their attitude if i didn't have to.
8. A day in court, not as easy as it sounds for me given extensive injuries and multiple operations i have under gone since my serious car accident however even that aside, that’s the attitude with all the cops " take it to court" so for every ticket spend a day in court, adds up to spending a great deal of time in court over any period. Even that aside, to waste the courts time and again resources, the costs involved when yes more than likely each matter will be dismissed is impractical and just not necessary. However these issues will be dealt with when the car complies as required to the issues outside of the Eng Cert. Once that happens, i just need to put up with being pulled over on a constant basis. Thats the guts of the issues and is being addressed.
9. 100% spot on, booked twice for the same offence 10 mins apart. !! I posted the fines back to Support group after i spoke ot them about it, they asked for copies and a letter, did that waiting for a reply.
10. So your a cop or a wanna be...... I wont bother too much with the likes of you, take a popularity test see how you score then talk to me! But suffice it to say i bought a car inspected by the MTA and well passed as a sound car. Thats the entire story. This car is not a rust bucket, doesn’t blow smoke, is not noisy (read the entire forum on that before making a failed attempt to pass your self off as smart) well maintained, low Ks (61,000) at purchase and so on. On day one the car was stopped after purchase, i was advised by Police to get an engineering cert, i did just that but since then, still not good enough. They by pass that with a heap of other crap. Its petty, it would make more sense to dedicate Police resources to catching crooks not raising revenue. The Police cannot honestly justify their actions, they are far from practical or in the interests of public safety. It is Nothing short of harassment, to be stopped up to 4 times in one day, each day. If you think Police actions are justified given the events you lack common sense, reason, and perspective which would explain why you are a cop.
11. I understand each time the police issue a fine they are seen to be good little people and obtain promotions over time , the more tickets they issue the higher up they can go..... Its their incentive to raise money for the state! NSW state Gov set a target of 430 million to raise next year in fines. Can only see things getting worse for any motorist.
12. Hey there, not sure what the exemption relates to? Im guessing there is something else they can 'shoot me for' that im not aware of?
13. Kinda one step ahead there, i already did. Wrote to both of them and invited them to spend a day driving with me to see what happens. If we spent say 6 hours and crossed various Sydney suburbs they would be able to film many stops by Police. What is interesting is that i just had a call from a Sargent of Police about 5 minutes ago in relation to these issues. He has said that he is happy to put a WARNING onto the Police system for other Police to see that the car does in fact comply, that Police have inspected it along with its paperwork are satisfied the car is legal, he said he cannot stop Police from pulling the car up but he said that warning should demonstrate to Police there would be no reason to actually stop the car (providing they check the rego out BEFORE they pull it up) Not sure if this address the issues, it is very helpful that the Sargent will do that but i still believe there may well be serious discrimination issues that will continue.

15. Here is a outline of the letter i am writing, It is being sent to my local member of parliament, NSW Police, NSW Police commissioner, anti discrimination board, equal opportunities board, Civil liberties board, Australian Human rights commission, Legal services Australia, my barristers and solicitor. All i can do is try to resolve these issues. The fines may stand but the discrimination is unacceptable. I will post any and all replies from these groups as i receive them. "Dear Sir/Madem, I write with concern to discrimination and harassment I am suffering by the NSW Police. I am enclosing supporting documents and will try to be brief with my introduction. Approximately 6 weeks ago I purchased a car after my last one was no longer repairable. I have extensive physical injuries caused on the ../../2008 due to a driver traveling on the wrong side of the eastern distributor, that driver collected me (total impact at 140Ks an hour) I was cut our by Police Rescue and have since being attending rehabilitation with a range of doctors/specialist in Sydney. In light of my area being semi rural and my inability to travel on very limited public transport my Solicitor arranged an advance for me to purchase another car so I can travel. Since I have had that car over the last 6 or so weeks, I am being stopped, on a daily basis, I am being followed by Police, even at night, Police have followed me driving without their headlights on so I cannot see them and I have suffered a RANGE of stops, even while stopped or parked, daily and weekly. There is OBVIOUS discrimination taking place that I do not understand or accept. I am being harassed and targeted in most cases without cause. Prior to owing my new car, I have only been stopped once by Police in the last 2.8 years. The Police have on two occasions (last one being yesterday at.................) and while recording with their in car video admitted they will discriminate against me each time they see my car. My car does not stand out, it is not driven in a manner unsafe. The make/model is a Skyline. The Police admitted on their in car video they will each and every time stop my car when seen and if I do not like it, sell the car. This has become so regular I believe I am unable to travel to Sydney, I am unable to continue rehabilitation and specialist treatments. I am being blackmailed into selling my car with the comments/threats made, or suffer further harassment, discrimination. I am being stopped as much as 4 times a day and 6 times a week, in fact it is every single time I use my car (4 to 6 times a week) . I am detained for up to 45 minutes on each stop. I do not have a criminal record nor have I had trouble with the Police. I am 44 years of age and lead a very quiet life even more so having the disabilities I have. I am enclosing a letter I wrote to Traffic Support regarding some fines issued. On two occasions I overtook not pulling back onto my side of the road but leaving my return too long (an offense I was not aware of but booked twice for the same offense) . Parking in disabled area, ( i am entitled to park) Police saw me park , but did not speak to me about it, they waited for me to park, leave my vehicle, they then followed me on foot for some distance eventually asking me to come back to my car. Why if I was committing an offense did Police not stop me and speak with me then, why did they allow anything to continue, even following me on foot only to eventually ask me to return to my car? There are a serious number of questions that must be asked and addressed with regard to the manner in which Police are targeting me. The center exhaust is 30 millimeters too low. Fined. The car when purchased came with an air filter not standard, Fined. The car also came with a small air release valve that it requires, Fined. I became aware of those issues last Thursday and am in the process of rectifying them. The car was issued with a DECC notice on another occasion and the car was inspected by the DECC last Thursday the 23/09/2010. The DECC have asked me to repair these issues this week and return the car to them for final clearance. This was well in the process, but I cannot even take the car out for repairs without being fined, stopped, harassed, held up for extended periods, followed, searched, and so forth. This type of behavior is unwarranted and is unacceptable. I have well documented these minor repairs were well underway however I am still being booked. What is unacceptable is that Police openly admit to me they will discriminate against me each any every time they see me. This is of MAJOR concern. The basis for this has been explained to me by Police for driving a Nissan Skyline. This is just a car like many cars, it is in show room condition, it is an outstanding example of very well looked after and maintained motor vehicle. I am also being advised by NSW Police if I do not like being stopped as many times each day sell my car. I cannot justify these actions as acceptable practice and I believe I have the right to drive in a manner safe without being stopped as many times, detained numerous times each day and weekly simply because of the make of car I own. I am enclosing paper work to support this letter and would appreciate your earliest advice as I can no longer continue any rehabilitation in Sydney, I am being forced to cancel all medical treatments and rehabilitation as a result of the discrimination, harassment and frankly my fear of Police when traveling.
16. I started this post last Thursday, as can see ive been asking for help in regard to taking care of these problems reading back on these post, and have not ignored the issues at all. Couldnt do much Saturday and sunday. But yesterday AGAIN was followed, driving in a manner SAFE, doing the right thing when i was stopped AGAIN, car was issued a defect notice described as SERIOUS because the center part of the exhaust is 70mill off the ground, (approx) I was fined for the BOV and fined for the Pod. And again the Police openly admit they will discriminate against ANY skyline and also mentioned same for WRX. Again i asked as to why im being stopped as many as three times a day and at least 4 a week for DOING the right thing. They explained the above. The country we live in is farrrrrrr out of control and this type of behavior from Police has to stop. Its not right. I was clearly in the process of taking care of these issues when they arose but MORE revenue for the state and i understand that each time a ticket is issued by a cop , it adds up to a promotion for him, the more they issue the higher they go, Imagine that??? the more you are a C**T the higher up the ladder u crawl.
17. That info sure heaps me alot thanx u!!! I did pay to have (early in the peace....) an engineers cert produced. Not sure what that is exactly but ill check it out ( 7am i just getting home to bed was in city tonight, no one stopped me, must be a Police Holiday...) and ill post the details of the engineers cert etc etc but thanx for your time and the DECC guy told me that BOV will be illegal to even sell in Australia as of next year. Ya right, its getting harder to 'breath'! bbs:)
18. Well seems the Muffler is ok then..... but the DECC guy said it was a bit iffy.... I will get a recir valve from the wreckers i guess or find one here, the only thing left that seems might be an issue is the Intercooler, without it, the front end would look pretty weird with a big hole in it, could fill it with a grill thingy but still, in retrospect, what a stupid set up we have with the Law, one day people might take back Australia for the people, not the Gov.
19. Thanks for that, seems this recir valve is the best way to do it. Rarely does that law make sense, its geared to revenue only for the majority of the time.
20. Heya Divoodoo, Thanks for that step-by-step process, made that pretty easy for me, I appreciate your help with that (and everyone’s too!!). As i said ive never had a performance car, never had cops trouble either, till now, it’s a totally new experience for me. It’s changed my opinion of the Police, i now sypmathise with anyone who has a nicely done up car. It was funny the other day as i was being booked for my car that is in as new condition, a smokey rust bucket drove past and the cops couldn’t have cared less for it, yet someone who has a car "As New" (faultless) gets into trouble. It really highlights how concerned cops are for safety.....it is nothing but revenue raising opportunity for the state and a promotional one for them. I have a log, i am writing down all the incidents, times, places, badge numbers, cars, times, etc. I found it interesting again the other night a highway Patrol car was parked not far from here on the side of the road in a dark spot, i barely even saw it, it was so dark and as i passed them they came out putting a little distance between them and me. They drove without headlights thinking i couldn’t see them and followed me for some time. I suddenly pulled into someone’s driveway and parked right up at their roller doors, (no idea who they were and i didn’t care) at that point they put their headlights on and just kept driving. No one from the house came out... but i would have explained i have the wrong home if they did and appologise. Someone offered me an original air system to replace the pod so i have that. I don’t know what a SMIC is? I’d be grateful if you could explain that one. Ill go to Jap spares? In Sydney for the recirc. New set of Plates GREAT IDEA! Also ill go to an exhaust shop today for a decibel check:) Ill post photos of the Intercooler, BOV and exhaust today:) that BOV is pretty funny i think not that i know so much but it just looks funny, so small and it dose nothing pretty much as it sits. It does make a little 'flutter' sound changing gears, very soft, and at high revs it makes a "whip cracking" sound but also you have to really listen for it. Heres some pics of the parts and car.
21. Might be easier than a retune mebbie.... retune could be costly but having said that, it would be good for the car:)
22. Hey RO11ING, The DECC guy said that my intercooler will not pass, and said ill need to take it to the RTA emissions testing at Botany. I think that is why im being told to retune it. Not sure how returning helps with emissions? and dont understand what an Intercooler has to do with emissions. Someone Pmd me with a box, so that side should be okes:)
23. Hey there The BOV is so soft, lol for a BOV its almost an embarrassment, at one point the cops tried to test it but it didnt make a sound lol. I have a cannon exhaust which they do not like... I didnt know they are bad, but the car itself is so quiet i find that pedestrians step out in front of it, people do not hear it coming. I also live in an over 55s complex (no im well under...long story) but if they hear any noise here they complain and the car doesnt bother anyone here. (mebbie they just cant hear ) Not sure what a Recic Valve is?... I looked on google, Its a recirculating valve but cant seem to find out what it does.

24. Hey there thanks for the comments: I cant get over the attitude cops here have toward cars, and mine is not such a stand out car being stock.... im totally shocked they have to do this, i cant understand it and why do they stop cars doing the right thing? that doesn't make sense. It makes me feel like doing the wrong thing, im going to get stopped and interrogated anyway. I loved your "so long as you dont have noss comment lolz , so casual but i can assure u if you had noss here you would be shot on the spot! Not sure about the age of an import for Australia but now you mention it, id say there would be something but i dont know.
