  1. Hmmms well im curious to see what happens too lolz i can just sense something melting or blowing up..... My mate has Zero knowledge about cars other than to change gears etc.... He wouldnt even know how to operate boost or what PSI is..... he said one of his mates is installing the boost .. some guy who just runs rats on the road...
  2. Hi Im no expert on boost but as far as i know if u have a turbo car, any turbo car, and u want to add boost ( which is fine within limits) shouldnt there be a few other things to do first? My mate just bought a stock Ford XR6 Turbo... not my choice but all good) So the first mod he has done today is add boost...... Shouldnt he add an upgraded intercooler first ? as the turbo will now run harder with boost, he should replace the factory fitted cooler to a larger after market one? and shouldnt he add an upgraded exhaust to cope with extra backpressure, and mebbie even wastegate? Im not sure how much boost he will run, but i can see a disaster heading his way without other mods to cope. I argued he should do the other mods FIRST to which he says nah all good, so i advised him to run under 10PSI if he isnt doing any other mods. Any advice is appeciated, thanx u.
  3. Holden Drivers ... ( Again) I have a similar post but so far i have not ended up in a punch on probably for a good reason.... But the DRIVING up the ass etc.. Soooooooo Typical Here is my Thread from a few days ago. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/376320-commodore-utes-n-ss-late-model/ its more about those Newer Holdens and older kinda drivers... with a Big badge on the side that says " Nah na na nah nah"......
  4. Heya, You know, sometimes its better to bite the bullet and let things slide. Its easy to get wrapped up in something that turns out to be unproductive and ends up bogging you down with stress and more drama to follow, and consumes you and your time.... Its a waist of time suing people, fighting, entertaining things in life ( often from a sense of pride) because of some issue that in retrospect may have been better served by doing nothing. (its the same kinda philosophy as "if you wanna die, go to hospital") better to lead a healthy life style. That kinda applies to most things the way i see it, imagine how your time could be better spent being free of shit, being free to be more productive, living without baggage that could be avoided. However, its a personal choice. If you weigh up the cost of a shit fight, over how much money you want to spend on time, stress, court, solicitor, is it worth it (especially if u lose)? Vs out right cost of repairs. Ive been down this path and i wouldnt wish it on anyone looking back. But if your determine and would like a VERY switched on Solicitor who packs a good punch, young guy totally up to date with the Law, and as strange as it sounds a solicitor whos earnt my unconditional trust for his honesty, work and work ethic let me know ill send on his details. Now that this has happened, maybe you could better serve the situation by getting your ride insured as its pretty much a guarantee that driving these days is at some point going to result in some scrape at some point , its not if but when, seriously.
  5. Thats what i figured, something kept going through my head that Sun Corp own Shannons and yup, Suncorp is a of a worry however, i think each insurer is run by its own admin, thus it can be i lil different in terms of how your insurer responds to you in each company. Suncorp look at the bottom line for each, but day to day running is on the merit of each provider. As a Note when i took out my policy with Shannons i asked for a email whereby i could email a bunch of photos of my car, in fact , i insisted so as to be very clear what we are insuring, the guy who insured my car from Shannons equally insisted it was not needed.... I wish now that he didnt do that.
  6. I only joined Shannons about 4 weeks ago.... 3 days after joining and during high wind storms while driving, a small Tree flew out across the road into my R34GTT caused slight damage to the bonnet and front bar....and as the car bounced over bits of the tree/branches, scratches were left in the skirts..... I lodged a claim and only having the policy for three days they were a lil suss.... I was previously insured with another insurer and gave them a cert of currency showing i was fully insured prior, so i wouldnt need to change insurers if i had pre existing damage just to make a claim.... They were happy with that, then 6 days later a Drunk Driver Ran up the Ass of my 34... so i lodged another claim ( making me look pretty bad) What will be interesting is ( why they keep me as a client ) but seriously.....the scratches on the skirts could be argued as ware and tear maybe?? , the front bar has a 'dent' down to the fiberglass (small) which could be argued along same lines i guess and the bonnet also was left with small dents and there is some very slight like scuffing on the paint of the bonnet. The small dents perhaps could be removed by paintless dent removal leaving the scuffing ( which is sooooo slight but i know its there, probably no one else would see that unless they really looked for it and knew the car aswell as i do after so many washes and polishes...) so will they go with the cheaper option of paintless dent leaving the scuffs or have the thing properly re-sprayed and repaired? One of the guys doing one of the repair quotes said that Shannons have a reputation of not cutting corners and that it would be his guess they will do the bonnet correctly... I wonder how ALLL this is going to be assessed ( personally im fanatical about my car, it GLEEMS with shine and good care, no marks, no anythings prior, this car was as showroom condition) the drunk driver damage should be ok as he was arrested no argument. This is the first claim ive had in 5 years of full comprehensive insurance and no claims prior as at fault , it is going to be interesting to see how Shannons assess the tree damage, as it is slight. The car was quoted all up today by two repairers (my choice of repairers which is great) They both came in around 2.5k ( fortotal damage front and back and skirts) Im gauging the process now to see how Shannons handle things but i do hear so many horror stories about insurance companies i dont know what to expect as the repair day gets closer.... So far Shannons have been nice, ringing to see how quotes are going, asking what they can do to help. The assessor rang me to ask what repairer i wish to use ( Ive not decided) so he asked me to choose and call him back. ( not sure why he wanted to know that ) i guess shall see how it goes...
  7. Heya check tyres for what ? besides the obvious poor tread ( mine r in excellent condition)
  8. Heya all, Seeing as most of Australia has now become rain drenched, driving on wet roads is almost a daily event. Ive noticed in recent months my R34 loves to aquaplane at the slightest (smallest) build up of water on the road. Last night on the freeway at 110 or a lil less the car constantly tried going sideways again in the rain (mostly higher freeway speeds it always happens but it can happen at just 60ks too)..... finally its made me ask the question; Does anyone have any advice on how to reduce aquaplaning in a car, mebbie specific to Skylines or is it an R34 thing? Or aquaplaning in general. I used to try to 're steer' (if that makes sense) when the car takes off in the front end, but that makes it worse i find, now i dont touch the steering wheel as the car aquaplanes and i find it grabs traction again and self corrects but its a bit freaky..... There has to be a better way to reduce the effects of aquaplaning.... surely ? How do racing cars do it? I recently saw a porsche that crashed on the news after it aquaplaned killing the two people inside. I know ive come close to all loss of control too. Any Advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
  9. just a note, if your going into R/S get into cash flow positive homes, you could buy 1 to 4 a year without any drama , give yourself and income as well. Check this lady out, i have a mate doing this at the moment and hes doing dam well. And nope i have nothing to do with that site, i just know it from my mate who buys houses. http://www.realwealthaustralia.com.au/index2/ If it was me, looking back and the debt i used to carry, id forget the car right atm and do the house thing or id find a way to do both but i wouldnt sacrifice a solid investment over buying debt for a car.
  10. Here is a store that have lots of cameras for different applications or put a package together ya self. http://www.ozspy.com.au/products/3-DVR-and-Accessories/372-vehicle-hd-dvr-with-screen/ BUT if your like me and out on weekends of a night, thats when all the stops and interrogation happens. So id be finding out how well does a camera record in the night, pretty much anything well record with daylight, you could even use a typical hidden pen camera available in security equipment type shops (there pretty good) but not so good in the night. Im having my cameras installed: front view ( in car) , cabin view, rear view (in car) and a hidden camera in the side panel between front and rear drivers door, facing outward to film anyone standing next to the driver door. Ive even looked at wireless cameras that can attach to my jacket or T shirt which is a good idea too, so when ya being told to get out of ya car to lift ya hood, or when they act in a manner unbecoming etc etc can keep everything in full view of the camera with audio at all times, and as far as telling them your recording them, forget that, anything in the public domain can be filmed legally. Ive became ANTI Highway Patrol since owning a Skyline due to the amount of stops 'colorful' language and Intimidation used by Police as a result of me driving my car in a manner totally legal, ive even been 'stopped' while already stopped .... :S It doesnt matter if you set an example by driving in accord with the law, it doesnt matter if you have P plates or not, your still going to be trageted for driving a Skyline, as has been explained to me many times im stopped. I have a clean Driving record Gold Licence, no criminal history etc, yet sometimes it seems they think im bin laden.... Its pretty unprofessional and disgusting behaviour that ive seen and been subject to without cause. So the more cars with cameras the better, the more footage the better!!!!!
  11. Just a correction to my first post/reply with regard to Shannons, My increase is NOT 20 dollars a week, its 20 a month. And for that i have an agreed pay out value of $22,000 on my Skyline.
  12. Just a foot note to be fair to the NRMA they take their 'market value' from Red Book, ( see google) I had a car accident in 2008, when someone hit me who was driving down the exit ramp in the wrong direction as i was exiting the free way, my car was fully insured with NRMA, i only paid 600 dollars for the car ( old subaru) and i didnt care what market value was. The car was a total write off; NRMA paid out $3,600 to me.
  13. HAHAHAHAHA YES!!!! It would be more reasonable to blame Aliens than God Lolzz and now that you have said it, i must ask that if my car is abducted by extra terrestrial life be it in a spaceship from space, a spaceship that physically lands, or if my car is fired on by such beings and destryoed/damaged etc am i covered, its only time before an insurer will blame extra terrestrial involvment so therefore cannot pay out as i am not covered for acts caused by ET!
  14. well i can laugh now about the boat, but back then i was haven freakn kittens (to be polite) ... I just thank God he didnt write that letter lolz Insurance companies have LOTS to answer for, so fast to take money but will find ways in the most unreal ways to decline payouts when and if the time comes. :c
  15. I Had a 52-foot cabin cruiser insured with Lumley’s. My boat was well secured in a birth on the mariner when during a storm the yacht in the birth next to mine broke free and smashed into my boat causing it to sink. I had full comprehensive insurance with them at the time of the accident. After i lodged a claim, Lumley’s declined to pay out saying that the accident was caused due to an act of God and that i was not insured against anything God did. I wrote back to there lovely letter with threats of legal action and i asked them to please provide me with a letter from God stating that he in fact was responsible and that if such a letter was produced from God i would cease all legal action. In the end, Lumley’s were unable to produce such a letter ..... And they paid out the claim in full. I would be a little careful; sometimes saving a few bucks is false economy... Just like changing the oil in your Car every 5,000ks, full synthetic oil is VERY expensive but its solid insurance! Currently my GTT Skyline is fully insured with NRMA however it is only insured for market value which means pretty much whatever they see fit to pay out. Last week I also asked for a quote from Shannon’s and for an extra 20 bucks a week I was offered an agreed pay out in the event of disaster. In light of the QLD floods despite I live in NSW I asked Shannon’s what am I covered for…. And gave examples like lightening strikes, acts of ‘God’, comets, meteorites, floods, floods from under a drain, floods from a river, floods caused by rain, rain fall damage but not flooded etc etc. Shannon’s tell me I am covered for ALL of those things and all the standard things like theft, accident etc except a tsunami! (Odd) I am to recieve a fully included coverage policy to show me everything i am covered for, i dont need the drama again should i ever need to make a claim. So you need to also consider what it is EXACTLY word for word in writing what you are covered for and to what value.
  16. heya dude add me to FB

  17. Heya, These go to http://www.nengun.com/ you night need to email them, but they care extremely helpful and fast to reply as i have found from dealing with them. http://www.nengun.com/ Good luck
  18. Heya Bayside, Thank you so much for the time! i read the thread you pointed me to and id say thats it totally! that guy having the same drama as me, ill go see my mechanic about this now and get it organised but yeah you got it spot on! Many thanks again for ya help.
  19. ummm yer i did have an exhaust overhaul 3 weeks back, was up ( or down graded) to pass DECC and height clearances as well....., the gas was coming into the car B4 and after. Im certain it is gas only the air con is perfect, id swear it is from that.
  20. i dont think so, ill check this out in more detail, it had an exhaust overhaul about 3 weeks back and the gas is still coming in, so was present before and after but perhaps their could be a leak more toward the engine, also, the smell, it is far from an exhaust type emission smell, its more like Gas, and if it was exhaust id begin to feel sleepy or have some effect which i dont on long drives.
  21. Hello, Wondering if anyone can pin point a gas/emission problem? I have a R34, is top condition, everything has been cared for without expense on the car/maintenance, i doubt its a lack of care thing the car is suffering.... Recently I noticed that on hard or fast acceleration i.e entering the freeway, any speeds over 100Ks a gas like mist begins coming into the car up from around the gear stick leather cover. If the sun (rare these days....) shines in the car I can physically see the gas escaping into the cabin. It smells like gas from the air con or a gas cylinder but not as distinct or pungent as that type of gas. I don’t think it is the air con as that is fully gassed, all works fine and it well would have run out of gas by now if it was the air con. With the Turbo lightly running and sitting on 110ks the gas disappears after a while, but accelerate up to 130Ks (on the freeway) the gas/mist pours back into the cabin, But without really driving the turbo, all gas mostly disappears again. If anyone might be familiar with this problem id really appreciate any advice. Thanks in Advance. ☺
  22. Its changed my opinion of Police, i see the nastiness, the unwarranted attitude many members display and pretty well the HATE...., i am tending to agree that a lot of people with questionable psychological issues seem to end up in the Police Force.
  23. Most of these issues arise while driving into Sydney from the south, so once i hit Campbelltown area, or coming up or into Wollongong (Hospital Hill) , Goulburn as well and northern beaches. I only travel to hospitals and specialist, thats all the car is used for. I dont carry passengers, kids, young teens hanging out looking like gangsters etc, again nothing outstanding. I do think there is more to this, something i obviously do not know for the car to be stopped as many times in any day. PS. i do go shopping once every so often .... not very much at all.
