  1. They ask for that for proof you didnt fix it from stolen parts. Just give them the invoices you have and maybe take photos with you so you can explain thats all that was needed. Screen shots should/might be enough for the ebay stuff. They might ask for an invoice for the labour too.. That happened to me once and I ended up having to sign a statutory declaration that i did the labour myself.
  2. Not sure, Im still waiting for my CF card to arrive in the mail.. The tuner definatley plays all relevant formats though.
  3. holy crap, i wish i didnt post this now! When i went there he seemed like the most easy going guy in the world... Guess it still comes back to the car at the end of the day..
  4. I guess i could make my own. I was going to take the lazy option but might as well save some money. thanks for the reply's..
  5. Is it just me or are more and more people stopping at the white line on a green light and waiting until there is no cars for 3km before they go? Then the poor bastards behind them get the red light! Annoys the f**k out of me.
  6. Cool!! bring it on.. The video says 'sedan', and 'nissan engine'.. So maybe it will be a V36 sedan with VQ45 or something? Or maybe a v37? Who knows.. It will make things less boring thats for sure..
  7. Betty's garage no longer makes grounding kits unfortunately. I missed out on this by just a few months! Can anyone suggest alternatives? thanks
  8. Looks nice in the engine bay, but the one in front of the grill would be more functional right? Im interested in a group buy of either one or the other if the price is right. cheers
  9. Yes unfortunately. But im not too fussed about it. Its still a digital tuner, just not HD. When I ordered it, i was lead to believe that they only sell the new HD model now. So i didnt go out of my way to specify. Of course the old model turned up! Make sure you specify you want the new HD version. I dont think the new model appears on the website yet. Here is the link for the one I got. Zylux tells me the only thing different about them is that the new one has the HD channels. The rrp is around $500. JB cost price is $349. Offer them somewhere between $375 and $400 and you should get it. http://www.zylux.com.au/aus/digital-tv-receiver-with-recorder.html
  10. Yep, but i only plan to use the tuner for TV or movies. You can still use the volume up/down on the steering wheel, but to change channels you will need the remote. For music i want to use the music box anyway. Would be cool to get the touch screen working for the tuner! Im guessing thats either not easy or impossible. anyone know?
  11. I ended up installing the new tuner yesterday. Took a few pics along the way. used the same mounting bracket from the panasonic. Antennas are mounted at the top of the back and front windows just under the roof lining so you cant even see them. Everything works great, even "drive in motion" works. All i did was gound the handbrake cable. I thought it was going to be a quick install because I could use the existing cables from the old tuner. It still took a good 4 hours by the time i removed the old antennas and everything. My back is not a happy chappy!
  12. Picked it up today. They sent me the wrong one! Its the non high definition model. Pissed off because i cant be bothered waiting another week for them to send the right one. Also the price is apparently the same so cant get a credit for the difference and keep the SD one. I'll probably just install this one. Just means i wont have the HD channels.
  13. thanks, I might give it a go. Did you fit them yourself? Where can you buy the kit?
  14. I ended up getting a 5 speed auto, and after nearly a month of driving, i want to share my thoughts.. Well i hate to say it, but the 5 speed box in the v35 wins. Lag is not really the issue here. There are a few scenario's that dont sit right with me. These are all in auto mode. I havent really experimented with sport mode that much yet. 1) If you want to do a quick 0-120km for example and you more or less floor it from 0km per hour. When it changes from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it kicks you in the back. Its like a big nudge. In the v35 this was seamless. It was smooth as butter and fast. 2) After you reach your desired speed and you lift off the throttle. The gear box stays in that gear for a few seconds (revving the tits off the engine) even though your foots not even touching the accelerator. Then finally you get a kick in the ass when it finally decides to change up. and another one for the next gear up... Both of these issues are only there if I have my foot to the floor. If i lift off a bit before it changes gear, then its totally smooth and fast changes, reminding me of the v35. Is this something that others have noticed? Pisses me off that they have to f**k around with something that isnt broken in the first place.
  15. Follow the cable trail from the antennas.. I ordered the zylux thing today from jb Hifi.. Got it for $430 in the end. Found out there cost price is $349 so if you feel like bargaining you could probably pick it up for under 400..
  16. Maybe its on either side of the spare wheel under the plastic.. Or its possible they took it out? Does your I/R remote sensor have a little red power light on it when the cars on?
  17. Mines mounted upside down in the boot cd stacker style.
  18. Licencing centres are anal about these things, if you catch them on a good day you might get lucky. Catch them on a bad day, and forget it. They will write a list of crap as long as your arm. Once that stuff has been recorded, it will follow you around no matter which place you try and reattempt it. After that, they cant just turn a blind eye anymore if you know what i mean cause its on paper.
  19. whats the sticker for? I took my v36 there to get WA rego. The compliance shop didnt change over my HID globes before that. I told him straight out, but my car still passed.. Good bloke! Moral of the story, as long as you dont go in with something obviously illegal or unsafe, you probably have a far better chance with these guys. Also, in the event that it doesnt pass, they are a mechanics, so they can probably help you change/ fix things in order to pass. Saves you running from the licencing centre to the mechanics all day long wasting your time. This new system should have been set up years ago. I think the original idea was to ease the back log at licencing centres from all the hail damaged cars coming through.
  20. The video goes back to the music screen and the audio? Because my music comes back on but the screen changes to navi.
  21. Sounds like you may have the same unit as mine. Maybe nissan dealers in Japan offered customers a replacement digital tuner after the analogue stations were switched off. Anyway sounds like its not going to work so im going to get new tuner soon. At least it should be a pretty easy install since some of the wiring is ready to go.
  22. Did anyone else have this installed in their V36? It looks like my car has an extra TV tuner already piggy backed of the factory one. Its a panasonic tu-dtv30-2. I even got the instruction manual and remote for it (all in japanese). I know theres fat chance of it working in Australia but thought id ask before i replace it with an Asuka unit. If theres a slight chance, i will find a Japanese person and get them to try and auto-tune it for me and see if it picks anything up. (i tried but the menu's are all in jap and cant figure it out) Also, if i do get an Asuka (which is highly likely). Will the video work while car is in motion or do i need a cable or something? thanks
  23. Thanks guys, Ill grab a new battery soon
