  1. Yes that makes sense, don't know why he lied about it being something else though. Fairly new to all of this so I guess I should ask is there anything I need to make sure of when they took it out, something capped off, modified ecu, missing sensors or something like that or is it a fairly straight foward thing to install and then remove. EDIT: I found a diagram showing how its all connected and it looks like the only area I need to worry about is the wastegate. Seems that the HKS EVC is one of the better ones so I am hoping that the engine won't have suffered too much from the overboosting. Thanks everyone for your help as its going to be a steep learning curve for me.
  2. Yep just googled HKS EVC and its a splitting image for the HKS EVC 4 boost controller, I guess the salesman would prefer I didn't know that. Jeez its hard to find an honest used car salesman. No wonder he said it won't be going back on after compliance work seeing how much it is worth. Thanks for spotting that paul
  3. Yes I think so, but I only had a picture to go pre compliance and its since been removed before it was available for inspection. I could only go on what the salesman told me. I will attach a picture if anyone could confirm that it is an air/fuel controller.
  4. Thanks Psymon, almost made a real goose of myself.
  5. Thanks sullivan, sorry for starting a new thread for the vin check I didn't mean to. Yeah thats all I wanted to know if it was a vspec or not. It didn't have the vspec sticker on the rear bumper and I couldn't see any signs of an accident so just wanted to make sure I was buying a genuine vspec. Thanks again.
  6. The vin they gave me over the phone bnr34 005515 isn't correct. Just looked at a copy of the export certificate before I was going to ring and try and get my deposit back and saw the correct vin bnr34 005155. Could someone please fast the correct vin for me. Thanks vin BNR34 005155

Thanks vin BNR34 005155 Edit, crap. Bloody newby this was supposed to go on the end of the vin fast thread. sorry
  8. Ouch, thanks Bundy Bear. I put down a deposit on it thinking it was a V SPEC, the speedo cluster is from a vspec with the active lsd light and the compressed tacho numbers. Trouble is it can't be the original speedo so who knows what the real kms would be. Guess I had better try and get my deposit back.
  9. Looking at a second hand r34 gtr that had a Fuel air controller installed and I was wondering if they are a bad thing for engine life. I would think that most GTR's would have had some mods done to them so was just wondering if I should expect some extra engine wear because of it, and what things I might need to have checked etc. Thanks if anyone has any advice.
  10. Hi Guys, and thanks if anyone can help. 1999 R34 GTR VSPEC with a vin BNR34005515 Just need to confirm it is a genuine VSPEC. cheers
  11. Hi all, I am hoping to purchase a R34 GTR and was hoping someone could check or point me in the right direction to check a vin number. The vin is BNR34005515 and it is supposed to be a VSPEC. Any help would be appreciated before handing over the money. Thanks EDIT, I just found the vin check thread so sorry about asking here.
