  1. Try turning the controller off to see if the ticking stops first. I blew a small chunk out of my turbo to manifold gasket once and it made a ticking sound. I could smell exhaust fumes too but you wont necessarily.
  2. I guess I could have come onto the straight 10kmh faster. I wasn't really referring to braking but yes, I braked later. I wish I had 4 gears under 1 to 1 ratio instead of 2. Ben - GTR badge??? Perhaps my car is lighter. What does an R34 GTR weigh. Maybe he left his spare and stuff in the boot but I didn't.
  3. I think my rotors are bigger than R33 ones. Do you think that might make a difference?
  4. I crept past him very slowly.
  5. Yeah I forgot about the $20k thing. So I guess you have to spend at least $20k pa to make it worthwhile. I don't think I'm willing to spend that much racing at this point in time and that's not going to change if I get a pay rise.
  6. I don't think it's your Ultimates that fade. I've never experienced fade in my Skyline and that's all I've used so far. I've been to about 10 track days and as everyone around my area and on this site can attest, I drive my car hard.
  7. Oh I should add, they are bloody noisy on the road. I drove for a couple of weeks with them on the street and they shat me to tears. Also they need smooth surfaces to work nicely. On the street you had to actively steer just to go in a straight line because they track on every little bump and groove in the road.
  8. Looks like I forgot to report back. First time out with the RE55's I blew my turbo on about lap 6 of Oran Park GP. Was kicking some arse before then though. All over a couple of those 300kw HSV's. These tyres are just a whole new world away from street tyres. I've since been to Eastern Creek with them one and overtook a few R34 GTR's there. An R34 GTR with more power and AWD was no match for me with RE55's. If you like driving fast on the track, get some.
  9. btw lol at Shonen's big head :D
  10. I don't have this restrictor or whatever it is. I am getting spikes for 2 reasons. One my solenoid is all the way over the other side of the car with a ridiculous amount of hose back to the other side. Two, I haven't gotten around to tuning the spike out. I think I know how to but just haven't done it yet.
  11. Ok, let's say I earn $20k pa and my tax is $2k pa. I ask my employer to change this to $10k pa (with $900 pa tax because I'm in a lower bracket now) + $10k pa sponsorship of my race team. I think that as long as I have an ABN then this is ok for my employer. Having an ABN is no big deal (I've already got one). My race team obviously needs to have full and proper books so this has to be taken into consideration. I can tell you all from experience that it's a pain in the arse but if it's worth it... As far as the ATO is concerned I have now earned, from two different sources, $20k pa (just like before) and paid $900 in tax. The costs associated with running my race team however, are deducted from my income. So, if I spend the whole $10k on running my team, I wont have to pay tax on that money. End result. I've saved $1100 in tax which is the difference between what I would have paid with a $20k salary and what I have to pay now. Anyone see any flaws with this?
  12. Buggered if I'm putting stickers all over my car though.
  13. Maybe I should work for free and have my employer sponsor my car for $xx,000 per year.
  14. Why did you use 0w40? I thought GTR drivers deliberately overfilled their sumps for the track.
  15. You've plumbed the bled air back in too. Very pro. It doesn't look like your install is causing the spiking so we will have to assume it's the tune.
  16. Looks like consensus on the Great Northern if you ask me.
  17. Last time at Eastern creek I was only able to run 0.8 bar due to fuel pump issues and I would estimate, based as dyno figures seen quite soon afterwards, that I had, as a peak power figure, around 220rwkw. Apart from the R34 GTR's I overtook around the track due to skill, balls and semi slicks, one particular incident comes to mind. I've come onto the straight about 2 car lengths behind and at equal speed as an R34 GTR that had been tuned by CRD the day before and had, I think it was 253awkw, could have been rwkw. Now what I want to know is; how come I was able to catch him down the straight? (not saying it was easy) I have no reason to believe he was holding back at all. His car mainly stock, pfc, zorst and boost. Me, GCG highflow turbo, the normal bits.
  18. Do it! I demand it!
  19. The question is what are you going to do with the car?
  20. Ok, this your situation. Can you prove he advertised it as genuine? If so that is called false and misleading conduct (or something close to that) which is illegal according to the Trade Practices Act. In this case you are legally allowed to be put in the position you were in before the transaction. To do this: 1. write a letter of demand to the guy and make sure he gets it. (ie hand deliver or registered mail with signature) This says you want your money back within say 21 days and he can have his car back. Also that you hold him responsible for the costs incurred such as stamp duty. Like the dodgy ****er he probably is he will ignore you or tell you where to go. Next step court HOWEVER ; you must make sure that you mitigate your loss as best as possible or you wont get what you want. You can't sell the car to the next punter who comes along for $200 and claim the difference. If he wont buy it back then you can sell it but make sure you hold out for a similar price to what you paid for it. Once you've done this you go to the Small Claims Tribunal and claim the difference plus costs incurred. OR; you could keep the car, collect a great big pile of evidence including statements from people who have sold or bought one or either car recently saying how much they got for it or paid for it (whichever is relevant). Then you go to the small claims tribunal. BUT; if the money involved is small don't bother. If the money is big, say $10k (and I can't remember the jurisdictional limit of the small claims tribunal sorry. It used to be $5k but I think it's gone up to 10 now) then he may get a lawyer to defend himself so be prepared. Best bet is if you can run the case yourself. So how much money is involved? What's the diference?
  21. I see now why I don't have that problem because I have the injector duty wire hooked up instead of rpm. It's one or the other and since I was concerned about runnning out of injector head room I chose that one. The unit needs rpm input to do the gear based learning, I think that's how it works.
  22. There you go Ben. That's two of us. You have to come now. And I want to see you racing
  23. I think it's only a momentary spike. Much less than a second even.
  24. Hey Ben. I will have to have a look at this learning mode a bit more. Next time I see you I will tune it for you if you like. Are you coming to the drag day in July? Also, where is your AVC-R solenoid mounted in your engine bay? What about the MAP sensor? Mine was installed by someone else before I knew much about them and the solenoid is too far away causing the boost spikes that I have and that you seem to have. I am going to remount mine soon to fix it but at least with the new turbo I don't have to worry so much about spikes cos it can handle it.
