  1. PVA Glue, Just doing a cleanout of the shed (getting ready to move to adelaide), and I found a heat gun if you still need one, you are most welcome to borrow it. I live in Willetton.
  2. JiMiH, As Joel said, the skylines dont seem to like too heavy a pressure plate.
  3. GTS-t VSEC, you got pm:) Steve
  4. Ah, top feed - just wish I was doing the plenum, then it would be a different ball game. When you recon in the cost difference between the side feeds for use with stock plenum, against the cost of top feed with a modified plenum, the cost isnt a huge difference. Have heard it is damn near impossible to get top feeds under the stock plenum (why in gods name didnt they give the gts the same plenum as the gtr). Steve
  5. IMACUL8, I was only having a go in fun. BUT, I do think you are selling your old ride short, Macka has got high 12s with only 25(or 26)rwhp more than your line was running, and rev210 has run 13.8 with a zorst, pod and a bit of boost. (edit: and 100kg of paper in the boot, as he loves to point out - gotta get traction some how) Bottom line, its good to hear your happy with your new ride, and good to hear objective comments about your new car - cheers and have a happy new year. Steve PS, hope santa was kind
  6. If you can get the damage welded, not too bad. Otherwise you may have to replace the bell housing - don't know how much one of those would cost.
  7. $100 per injector? Is that high impedence, side feed? If so please let me know where, as I was looking at second hand 550s, and the cheapest I have seen were over $200 Steve EDIT: first heard of the high flowing in a Zoom mag, where a guy was getting 413rwkw using high flow injectors.
  8. IMACUL8, good to hear you're not disappointed with the change - that would really suck, spending a heap of dough, and (if you are like most) losing a couple of dollars selling the old ride. I would certainly not take offence, I asked the question and wanted your honest opinion. I can only agree that the handling on the skylines can be a bit spongey - I have spent a few bucks sorting that out - just gotta piss off the hicas now and I'll be happy. Don't you think you may miss a bit of power oversteer occasionally though? Only thing that worries me a bit is 13.7 with 270rwhp - sure there isn't a bit of 'operator error' somewhere:p (sorry just couldn't help myself, it was too easy LOL) Thanks for the honest reply Steve
  9. Dude, it does sound like there are problems with your clutch pivot point, or the mount for the slave cylinder, esp if it is moving - this is 'old school', but in my younger days the slave cylinder was usually fixed and pushed against a fulcrum which was attached to a pivot point. If you are not leaking fluid - it probably aint a leak, and you would probably know if it was. I have heard that heavy clutches can do a bit of damage to the pivot point on skylines, specifically if the clamp pressure reaches or exceeds 3000lb - but that is hear say.
  10. Interested in the comparison, what is it that you prefer about the WRX? Just curious Cheers Steve
  11. Brendanf, If its not too personal, could you give me a ball park for getting the high flow done. I am really interested as my injectors are rapidly approaching 100%, and side feed high impedence are farking expensive even second hand, as you undoubtedly know. Cheers Steve
  12. My 0.02 Best economy has been 528km from 50L, usually around 9.5-10L/100km - using Ultimate.
  13. I, too am sure your right, but it might be a bit messy see how many kays you get from 65L - walking too and from the servo:D
  14. Got a nine button ceramic-ferride clutch and pressure plate fitted (2500lb clamp). All up fitted it cost me $800 (about $535 for clutch and p/plate before gst). It is quite nice to drive, not too instant on the takeup. Their website is www.xclutch.com.au . It bites quite nicely, I am currently putting down over 260rwhp (260 is where the power curve flatlined on the dyno with the old clutch) and it grips quite well. It might be worth having a look at twin plates as well. Although I have never driven one, the guys I have spoken to that have state that take up is very similar to stock. Twin plates seem to come up from time to time on the for sale section of this forum for around $8-900 up, for a second hand item which seems like a real bargain. EDIT: oops, just noticed the website is under construction, their phone is 1800 258824 - and they do a few different types of clutch, not just button.
  15. I think the main thing you should be trying to do if you are comparing fuels is drive them the same way, in similar conditions, ie road and weather conditions, and it may be a bit hard if you are just comparing with one tank only. Another thing to consider is that imports' ecu is tuned for 100ron fuel, the closer you can get to that the better is should drive. EDIT: that is if you are driving an import, also try doing an ecu reset each time you change fuel
  16. Have you been reading Zoom mag? I saw an article in there where it states that Paramout performance in QLD (07) 4659 9711 did this to ford injectors, taking them out to 550cc from a mere 180cc. Unfortunatley, the process is stated as being 'a bit of a secret'. It would be interesting to see what they can do to a set of stock Nissan 370cc squirters!
  17. $365 to fit and 2 hours to tune? WTF that is out of control. It only takes about 2 hours to tune a Power FC in competent hands, and a good shop will charge about $75/hour max for labour (even though I think I would hesitate at going much over $50/hour) so $365 = 4.86 hours. Either someone doesn't want your business, or they are trying to rip you IMHO
  18. Hmm, perhaps look at the most important factor when achieving fuel economy - how you drive the car. It all depends on how quickly you accelerate and deccelerate. Spend alot of time stop/starting (especially in an auto) and you will chew the juice, also time spent on boost tends to make a huge difference. I only use ultimate, although I have tried premium. The main difference I noticed was a definate increase in responsiveness on ultimate - the fuel economy didn't change a heap - what does effect economy most is when I get friendly with the loud pedal.
  19. Choice of turbo is a really complex thing - it really depends on what you are after performance wise, there are sooooo many options out there - each a compromise in its own way.
  20. Go the Freo passenger terminal, Freo always seems to be up for a decent festival or public event - just have to create the Annual Fremantle Drift and Import Festival.
  21. Dude, first thing I would be doing is getting a decent mechanic, who works with turbo cars, to check it out for you - and offer to pay him to do so. Have heard good things about Ice Performance in Melbourne, but, as I live in perth this is purely hearsay. Steve
  22. 25GTT, japanese motorsport's drift R33 is red (not quite the same as the factory) with a carbon bonnet and it looks pretty damn sweet. Might be worth a check as it would give you a pretty good idea what yours will look like - personally think it would look alright, has purpose and rice factor:D
  23. Air conditioning duct is pretty tough and can bend around many corners without collapsing. I bought some pretty huge stuff and it only cost me $11 for 3 metres, just gaffa taped and cabletied in place and it works fine.
  24. Does the fuel rail need modifying?
  25. The blow by vapours from the crank case, get plumbed into the rocker cover and from there back through the turbo and are burnt in the cylinders. Problem is that the vapours have some oil in them. This oil can (and probably will) coat the inside of the intercooler, reducing its efficiency. A catch can, only filters the oil and allows the vapours to be plumbed back into the cylinders to be burnt. A breather will filter the oil before passing the vapours to atmosphere. It is generally considered to be necessary to think about a catch can as you start to increase your boost. Hope this is right, please correct if wrong, or anything else to add.
