caster rods leakin
Steve replied to (B1) MR_fanny's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
steering and suspension are somewhat akin to brake systems - if they arent working properly they are very dangerous. a thorough visual inspection is the first thing to do, look for any bent arms etc. when you fit the castor rods, get it aligned and checked at the same time. Most places like pedders do free safety checks, might be worth taking it into them if you are unsure of what to look for. -

Have you tried tuning the ramp onto boost? Most places will give all you can get, and try to bring boost on as hard and quick as possible. If you wanted a more progressive ramp onto boost, free up the exaust side as much as you can (if you havent already), then get it retuned so its not so violent:) If you have done everything to free up the exhaust side, it may be worth going to a smaller turbine housing to bring the point that you are making boost in a bit earlier - if the compressor will allow it before surging. -
Mike Cash, the exhaust cam in your car is different from the R32 RB20DET, its slightly lumpier. I will have to look up the specs when I get home.

BN sports is probably one of the least ricey looking IMHO, very tough phat and drifty looking:) the front bar for an R33 doesnt do it for me though, but R32, S13/14, FD3, hmm tasty.

finally over 200 rwkw and only 4 cylinders
Steve replied to meggala's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice work. I think you will have alot more to come. James from D1 Garage is using one of these turbos and making 251rwkw in his S14.5 @1.4bar - they are pretty popular on the drift scene over in Japan apparently. Thats with HKS cams (256/264 from memory) manifold and adj cam gear (-4deg) too though, tuned at 11.5ish AF ratios - oh and he uses an 8cm housing, so its reasonable to believe that with the 10 you could make more. Once again congrats, please keep the updates coming when you take the next steps. -
yes, or a 2 way rear and 1.5 front

Do you have oil coming out of your BOV? Higher boost means more blow by, which means more oil through the intake. This can cause alot of oil to be burnt. If you think you can give it a go (get grandad to help) try pulling an intercooler pipe off, and checking for oil inside it. If you can find alot of oil there, that MAY be your problem, esp if everything else is ok except for the smoke. If there is oil through the pipes, clean them out. Also, remove the intercooler and give it a flush with metho or similar - clean all the sh1t out. If you ever have to turn up the boost again, fit a decent catch can. Not always necessary, but better safe than sorry. Oil mixing with the intake charge isnt ideal. OR, as Neil points out, take your car to an appropriate mechanic. -
PM name please. Oh, and out of interest, isnt it liable if its on the internet - after all it is written? And Predator, I do believe you cannot even bitch about a company to your mates. If enough witnesses overhear it, ie reasonable proof you said it, thats still slander. Best way is to give a totally factual account - without any opinions, and let others make up their mind - of course, best to keep the names out of it, we dont want SAU to have to fight a legal defence - then again, if Prank brought back the point system (I want a bold user name dammit:p;))

B-man, I got mine from Powerplay imports in sydney. The guy thought it was a 1 way, and was quite keen to unload it. First thing he said was 'I dont want much for it'. I got lucky, he offered it for $350 fitted, I asked him if he could send it here for that price - he seemed glad to be rid of it. When I unpacked it, and checked it against a couple of parts catalogues - found it was a Nismo 2 Way. I agree with Dean, check wreckers and car dealers. Most dealers wont put a car on the lot with a 2 way diff - frightens the punters off:)

If you were so worried about the environment, drive a solar powered car. Cats only have a very short effective life, after which they do very little. As soon as you change anything on your car, the emissions profile will change, so you best not do any performance mods either. The single biggest contributing factor to vehicle emissions is poor (or no) servicing - check out the DOTARS website, have a look at the national inservice study into vehicle emissions - 2 years and 2 milliion dollars spend to find out that if they could service the entire fleet of cars on the road at the moment, it would have a 10 TIMES greater effect on vehicle emissions than all the new cars sold (during the the year of the study) being ZERO emissions. If cats were so damn important, why dont bikes have them, and why is it trucks, that spend arguabley more hours on the road and burn massive amounts of fuel, can spew smoke into the air quite legally. Not having a go, but sometimes I think opinions are founded on mis information and scare mongering Not saying you fall into this category, but often such misinformation is instigated by over opinionated mis informed minority groups whos basis is made from too many people with too much time on their hands and no lives trying to do something 'meaningful' with their lives. This usually results in making life more difficult for the average guy by causing new rules to be made all the time. There was a time when you could do what you wanted, soon you wont be able to do a bloody thing without breaking some stupid rule instigate by people trying to justify their own existance by trying to take on the consciousness of the free world. /rant appoligies for the whore, wrong button was pushed. (note to self, stay away from buttons) -
Wheel alignment results
Steve replied to EnricoPalazzo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Did you make sure that the lug for the hicas is in its slot at the bottom of the wheel. Its a small flat tongue that sticks out about 1cm from memory - if not aligned properly in its slot can, apparently, cause problems. This is why you must buy a hicas boss kit for aftermarket steering wheels. About the only thing I can think of, hope it helps. -
are you sure of what you are saying? seems a bit harsh to be slamming someone without first hand experience, and RPM dont touch emanage, so how did they get 70kw extra (as MADGT4 says)? I know they used to sell the emanage fitted and tuned, but the guy who did fit and tune them doesnt touch them anymore, he has had enough of tuning cars for a living - therefore D1 Garage dont sell them anymore - unless a customer orders one. The ones I have seen him work on got results that the guys at RPM were very impressed with (he used RPMs dyno). From what I have been told, the problem with the e-manage is finding how to activate all the options, and also correctly wiring the car up seems to be a bit of a black art. If you want a mild management optioin, go something like the unichip, or get a safc and an itc. Before you buy any ecu, make sure you can find someone who is familiar with them and will give you good results. And remeber, a really good tune takes time, and costs money. you get what you pay for.

Power FC Idle quality under electrical load
Steve replied to Steve's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
making a bit over 300 rwkw, I was hesitant to run 8s, as I thought they may be a bit cold. OK in summer, but with the cooler weather, they dont seem to like it as much. They looked ok, except for 6 which as 0.3mm - that was fully black. And I agree completely about giving the plugs a good clean from time to time;) -
I wonder who I sent it to then?????? Sent one seconds after my last post on this thread? I actually have bad news. Signal are going to be busy around mid May - just found out today:( I checked with James, and he is negotiating for another date, but he doesnt want to commit until it is confirmed - shouldnt be too long though. I will definately let you know as soon as its confirmed.

COPYME, I agree completely. Are you sure this guy is on the level? I would have thought 99% of people would have raised hell if a copper took to their car with a stanley knife. paullys 32, if you click on the flag that asks if you want to be remebered (when you first log on to the site) the computer will load up cookies which identify you when you revisit - therefore if someone else uses your internet login, they will login as you. Road tuning your R33 with PFC. How do you work around a PFC?
Steve replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I was under the same impression as you Jason, but not sure. I have tried with closed loop disabled, but made no different. -

mist, how do you check AAC valve? I dont have a manual. I have pulled it off and cleaned it, and its seems to be in good condition, but it would be nice to run a check. Emre, I ended up adding around 0.30ms extra in the injectors, and still didnt get it to work quite right, but throtle response is improved:) cheers. RNS11Z, definately not tps, I have already checked the voltages and its all good - thanks for the suggestion none the less. I fitted some new plugs, as it was taking longer to start on the cold morning, so I thought I would try some ngk 7s (had 8s). I think I found the problem - the old plugs were gapped between 0.5 down to 0.3mm! the 0.3 was in number 6 and was pretty carboned up. The guys who put them in didnt gap them, which is fair enough as they are supposed to be pre-gapped - but it was pretty obvious to me as soon as I started pulling them the gaps were way to small. thanks for all the help so far. -
the windows can be tinted, but must allow at least 70% of the light through. If you live in other states, its 35%. It used to be 70%, but the federal laws were changed to allow 35% - its just that SA are in the dark ages.

do it yourself! $400 isnt bad, it takes alot of work to bring paint up nice. if you have the time, buy an orbital polisher, some cutting compound and some polish - not too hard, just time consuming.

ROFL, thats so sad. I have a suggestion for a new plate - tungmai EDIT: and if you tell them its your girlfriend's name. all those politically correct dicks wouldnt dare knock it back.
