Clint, have you considered that if you have one pump and it fails, your car stops - if you have two pumps the car runs then goes bang? Paranoid biatch aint I:)

Ah well, I will feel good that he probably made bugger all on the tyres then - really cheap price. Cheaper than the list on Falken Azenis RT215s!

Overkill brake setup question
Steve replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
this sounds reasonable, but in my limited understanding of physics, isnt pressure distributed evenly over all area in fluid? so the number of pots would not be so relevant as the size of the piston itself, the pressure exerted on the pistons would be the same? does this make sense? Then again, theory and the real world often seem to clash:) I have seen vacuum bottles fitted to brake boosters - this was mainly because of the lack of vacuum at low revs due to large cams, but I suppose theoretically extra vacuum would be beneficial? sorry for the red herring. -
Yep, saw them, but the wires mysteriously change colour when they plug in on either side of the fuel tank access hole - I was hoping not to have to remove it again:) ah well....

Too late, just got 2 235/45/17 RE55S type SR (hard endurance compound) fitted. I am in love:) steering is so much sharper, ride is better, havent tested for understeer though - yet:D

Which Whiteline parts?
Steve replied to Anquetil's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm, well I would recommend the castor bushes (or better still adjustable castor rods) before camber adjustors. Camber adjusters are only of use really if you have too much camber have your alignment checked before jumping in and buying these My 2c worth salival, rear strut brace doesnt make as much difference unfortuneately - go the sway bars. -
sounds gt30 ish.

Does anybody know what colour the negative wire is coming off the fuel pump on an R33? I was thinking of doing the relay thing too, does anybody know of any negative effects of using this? anyone got photos of a relay setup? this whole variable speed pump at idle thing really freaks me out Chris, perhaps Mick didnt have any 044 pumps in stock at the time?

It may be some new crazy on line indicator thing, blue, not here, not blue, here?

[HELP] wheel spacers

Why not check with an engineer? Or the RTA? It is illegal to widen the track by more than 25mm (from memory) according to federal road laws. If an engineer has approved it, and the RTA has rubber stamped it, it should be good. -
Road tuning your R33 with PFC. How do you work around a PFC?
Steve replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I dont know what my mixture are, but to smooth my idle out I just kept pulling fuel and adding timing - the richer I go, the more prone it is to hunt? what map settings do you have for ign and inj in the first 5x5 cells? if you have time to check them:) -
Dont need an aftermarket plenum. The stock one will be fine. Bottom line is it depends on what you want. lwells, have you actually tried fitting a front facing plenum? the only person I know of that reckons he hasnt had gains from it is SK - EVERBODY else, who has one fitted thinks its a good thing. Then again, SK does see an advantage with bigger hp (if I rember correctly), so your statement is a bit misleading. If side facing plenum was better, everyone would be converting to them. Ask yourself, how many side facing plenum conversions do you see out there? The gains wont be huge, but think about this, if you remove 1 - 2 metres of 2.5 or 3 inch pipe from your inlet, do you think it will have no effect? Why do the japs go to such huge lengths to keep the intercooler pipes so short? shorter pipework will mean better response. Another mate of mine just fitted a front facing plenum, and he reported the same gains I noticed - crisper throttle response and stronger bottom end/midrange - which is pretty important once you start fitting larger turbos imho, esp for a street car. Think of the stock manifold - guys in NZ make over 400rwkw with the stock manifold - does it make it an optimal deal? no, an aftermarket one is better, but it does support the power. I have also seen a Jap R34 GTT with 480ps (claimed didnt see a dyno) with stock plenum. So can it be done? Yes. Is it optimal? I dont beleive so. If you budget will stretch I would recommend it, if you dont have the funds, I wouldnt be too stressed. Is a front facing plenum necessary? I dont think so, and the evidence would support that. Is a front facing plenum better? I do think so, and there is evidence (mine, others and market driven) to support that. sweetr33, I would love to see a dyno. I think your mate was pulling your (or his own) leg.

caster rods leakin
Steve replied to (B1) MR_fanny's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
radius rods, yes. -
it starts again, Perhaps this isnt the best place to be hitting on people? esp when it involves putting other (respeceted) members of the forum down, and thread whoring??? PM is your friend, use it and dont embarress your self or upset others:)

The only problem with top feed is firstly you have to have a fuel rail made, then you need to source new clips, then rewire them. All this adds up. So make sure you find out how much it will cost inclusive fitted. You can buy 550cc Nismo or HKS injectors for around 1K new, but better still, if you can find some, S15 injectors will fit and they are 440cc, which is more than adequate for 250rwkw. Team then with an adjustable fuel pressure reg set to around 3KG, and you can go for your life. $700 for a really good tune is cheap. I have spend alot more than that. It takes time to check all aspects of a car's running, idle, part throttle, cruise, WOT. Dont every scrimp on tuning, as all you will end up with is a car that isnt as nice to drive as it could be, and perhaps worse.

Magill Bridgestone - 8332 0800, ask for Kim. Only dealer in Adelaide (so I was told). First thing he said when I asked if he sold them was 'we have them in stock and they are the new hard compound':)

I think i've been scammed. Need advice
Steve replied to JiVE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Umm, I do believe you can sell the car without a RWC. BUT the buyer needs one to transfer the rego in VIC. Other states its not needed. so nothing naughty there. I sold a VIC registered car to a guy in WA, no RWC, no problems. He just took it into the registration centre to transfer the rego. I didnt inform VICROADS. Make an anonymous phone call to the local liscencing centre and see what they say, ask them if you sell a car, what paper work do you need to complete. And also ask if the person resides in another state do you need to provide RWC or notice of disposal. Also, I will send you a pm:) -
Well, I just found some RE55S in the new hard(er) compound - 235/45/17, $351 fitted, so it looks like I will go with those. I'm excited:D thanks for your help Chris.

I might have to take you up on that:) what sort of pressure did you run in the Azenis? I just did some searching and read ( a couple of times) that you need to run the right pressure or the girp is not so spectacular? Also, do the S03s have stiff sidewalls? I want these to be pretty firm, to try and counter the understeer I have at the moment? If the Azenis a really crap i could always put them on the back and kill them:)

Thanks Chris32.

Hmm, at twice the price, are they really worth it?

Fuel seems to be the problem IMHO. Alot of people try and stretch the stock injectors to places they just werent meant to go. All that I know of who upgrade the injectors and dont chase every last kw, have had no dramas. Personally I wouldnt really want to chance it (well I didnt chance it). If you upgrade the injectors as you fit a bigger turbo you will be safe - with a good tune. Cheaper than a rebuild - infact cheaper than a set of forgies:) I have over 300 in a daily driven RB25, running over 20psi no problems - stock internals. the JMS R33 had over 300rwkw with stock bottom end too, and that gets caned - still going strong.

Got any spare RE55s you want to get rid of? I just booked mine in for some Falken Azenis RT215 semi slicks for the front, but doubt they will be anywhere as good as the RE55S
