  1. Hi Adrian, is the model with the return pipe over the engine, or the one through the stock piping points? Its the 76mm core or the 65mm? Very interested, just need to see if it fits with my modification plans (need to check with Per4manz they are cool modifying the piping to suit a custom plenum with front facing throttle body). Ta Conrad
  2. Hmm thanks for the advice guys - will consider the GT30. But to be honest, 320rwHP+ ( 238Kw) is pretty serious power and I understand that 260rwKw is close to the limits of a stock bottom end on an RB25 so I am not sure if the GT30 is going to give me much more expect for more lag and potentially a broken motor when I run it up to 260+rwKw.. 320rwHP at 13PSI seems awesome to me - thats serious power and not insane boost, so engine longevity shouldnt be too bad. My concern with the GT30 would be it may run up to say 370rwHP, but how long would the engine stay together? This is my daily driver, I dont want it to detonate after 3 months. Am I wrong, can the RB25 sustain more than 370rwHP safely for extended periods? If so, the GT30 is probably a better option Good responses guys, got me thinking about the GT30...
  3. Hi, I have been recommended by my workshop to go for a GT25 440HP turbo to achieve the horsepower I am chasing (around 320rwHP) and the 'seat of the pants' torque I am chasing. I am not so much after a dyno comp winner, but something that comes online not too late (a litte lag is cool, like 4000-4500 for full boost) and really punches hard as I hate the stock turbo - my old WRX with a VF22 pushed MUCH harder. Anyone used one of the GT25's (internally wastegated model) on an R33? Any comments? I originally was thinking the GT30 with a TO4B housing, but my mechanic has done several R33s with this setup recently and is getting 320rwHP with 13PSI with stock computer (pretty awesome in my opinion!) and its not laggy. Ta Conrad
  4. So anyone seen one of these? They had them featured in the latest Zoom, thinking its a pretty awesome alternative to the conventional air to air front mount intercooler, if there is sufficient room to fit it under the bonnet..
  5. Can the guys at UAS organise to get the pipes HPC coated (for extra cost obviously)? I'm located in Perth and noone does thermal coatings here. Would love to minimise any heatsoak (on the return pipe over the engine especially). If they can organise that, definitely interested in the FMIC kit. Does the intercooler have some brackets on the bottom to support it, or just the tab at the top? Ta Conrad
  6. Count me in - lets just make it VERY obvious when the first meeting is (eg a Sticky topic) so we all make it Conrad
  7. Rev210 - so its all fitted in an working? Whats sort of additional thrust is it giving you, 'seat of the pants' style? I have read that NOS provides very large torque increases... I am not a full bottle on the relationship between Hp and torque, but it must feel awesome when it kicks in, or is it more progressive than the movies will have you believe? Hmm very interesting... I think I need to sort the rest of the system (FMIC, ECU, EBC) before I go down this path
  8. Hi Boo5st, yep got the dump pipe on, happy with the gains... much more poke in the midrange, less lag, and surprising how much smoother power delivery is ( I think this has to be somewhat due to the seperate wastegate pipe not interfering with the airflow coming off the turbine).. Its not thermal wrapped or coated, may consider HPC later but there doesnt seem to be any underbonnet temp issues so it would only be to teduce spoolup times. If you want more details on the construction of the dump PM me and I will go through it. Now just on to fit a HKS or Hybrid FMIC so I can safely lift my boost levels, and then off to SST for a Wolf3d plug and play I figure I will run the stock turbo for a while, hoping around 180-190rwKw will keep me happy for a few months at least, then back in for a GCG hiflow or equivalent, fuel pump, fuel reg, retune and hopefully 230+ rwKw. Gtst-Vspec - I would love to get a ride in yours sometime, get a feel for the setup you have with the Wolf3d - you still running stock turbo?
  9. Hi Rev210, very interested to see what sort of results you get and how difficult the install is.. doing a little more reading (as there seems to be a lot of myths about NOS and what it does etc), and found this bit of info on a UK NOS specialist site: Will nitrous work on turbo I supercharged, tuned or 2 stroke engines? YES! it will, as nitrous does not know what kind of engine it is entering, and on these types of engines the power output on nitrous almost always exceeds the theoretical power input calculated on the amount of nitrous used. Methinks you are going to see some serious horses out of this if it bumps you MORE than 100hp Hmm.. pity its illegal for street cars.. but I assume its not illegal to have it hooked up as long as theres no bottle.. Good luck! Conrad
  10. Had a twin dump pipe fabricated by Genie the other day - gave up trying to organise HPC coating etc, and supprted the local guys The result is a dump with a seperated wastegate pipe that includes a flange in the face of the dump pipe to reduce airflow crossover, and the wastegate pipe reconnects about 30-40cms down the main dump pipe. The main dump starts at 2.5 or 2.75" (similiar to the turbo outlet size, an allows sufficient space to fit the adjacent wastegate pipe) and immediately flares out to 3" for the rest of the pipe. Surprising, heat doesnt appear to be too much of an issue (even after a serious thrash, you can stick you hand between the dump pipe and the aircon lines about 3 inches away and not get burnt) so I think I will perhaps just look at putting some heatshielding material around the more sensitive stuff down there to avoid any future issues. I had the catback system before to get a feeling of the difference the dump would make, and it gives a LOT more torque overall, and midrange is a lot stronger (top end is still crap as im using a didgey bleed valve and boost has dropped off once I get to 5000+rpm). Sounds good, goes good - happy with the result Conrad
  11. Ahh, so you know who bought that Evo motor conversion FTO that Geoff Risbey was listing eh? Does she move or what? My girlfriends stockie FTO could do with some more horses
  12. Thanks mate, your a star I will give them a call and see how they are for work - I am hoping I can rush a single job through. Silly question , what colour is the finish on the bits you had done? Have you noticed much difference? Ta Conrad
  13. HIya, does anyone know the details of the crowd in Wandi that do ceramic heat coatings? GTST-VSpec has told me their name in Competition Coatings, but they arent in the whitepages so if anyone has their phone number it would be appreciated - trying to organise my dump pipe coating for tomorrow. Ta Conrad
  14. GTST-VSpec - so do you have any comments on the dump pipe in general? I understand that the wastegate pipe is pretty long (about 60cms) so I guess that might account for the 'sbend' that macka has mentioned... for the dollars I want to make sure its a good quality job! Ta Conrad
  15. GTST-Vpec, how do you find the underbonnet temps with it? Or did you get that thermal wrapped or HPC coated? The guys at Genie are doing mine on Tuesday. Its a pain they need to car to make it, as I would love to get mine built up then sent off for thermal coating before fitment. Might look at taking it off later... just dont want to have issues with elevated intake temps or underbonnet heat issues, plus the thermal coating DOES improve performance (quicker spoolup).
