Has anyone had any exoerience with this? I see there are kits for like $450 (ouch!) precut, anyone used one? I was hoping you could buy it by the roll somewhere hopefully cheaper and do it myself - I want to cover the dash sections that have peeled (the gearshift bit, the dash and the door handle). Any info would be appreciated. Conrad

Hmm, good point - search Well, its 10pm now so I will have a go at it next weekend, thanks for the info!

Hi Joe, yep I actually had it at my place the night of the cruise, but didnt get my compliance plates till the following friday - all licensed now Now, LET THE MODS BEGIN!!!

Anyone got any hints on doing this? I have the two bolts out of ther bottom of the seat, but theres two clips holding it still and I cannot work out how to release them (plus I think one is backwards as the 'tab' that I think is supposed to be pushed is back behind the seat frame section that locks into the clip). Any help would be appreciated, driving me nuts! Conrad

Does anyone know how to remove the rear seats ( so as to remove the parcel shelf for speaker and grille replacement) ? I have taken the two bolts out, but theres two nylon looking clips that are holding it in and I cannot work out how to release them... I can see on one of them (which I am thinking might be in backwards) a little tab at the back of it... I am thinking this is supposed to be pushed (but I think the bracket is backwards as this is at the back behind the steel loop from the seat frame. Any one offer any advice? Thanks Conrad

Any got a link to the R33 stereo pinouts? I am wiring up a JVC head unit today and dont have them handy (guessing is ok to a point )

Servicing and mechanical parts for R33 in Perth?
slayer replied to slayer's topic in Western Australia
Cool, thanks for the info guys.. will go get it seen to (once I get the mongrel licensed... ARGHGH still waiting for the compliance plates!) -
Hi guys, anyone know where to source a replacement tailshaft support bearing/bush assembly for an R33 GTST? I am getting some vibration cruising at 70ks and the universals appear to be fine so I am pretty confident its the middle tailshaft support (had same problem in a previous car). Where would I source the part, or is there an equivalent part for the local Nissans like the old RB30 etc? that I could use? Thanks Conrad
-
The tailshaft support bearing/bush is stuffed I think on my car and is causing some vibration when cruising at about 70ks, but I am wondering who can source the part in WA and do the work? Any ideas?

If you get the slimline ones at the front and normal at the back - does the rear one use the same letters as the front and what colours is it? I was looking at getting the $110 slimline (the one where you dont get to choose the letters) so I get a slim plate up front to minimise airflow disruption to the intercooler, but the fullsize plate would look better at the back, depending on the style. Or is it a full custom choice to get the slimline and fullsize plate (eg expensive) ? Ta Conrad

For Perth, have you tried Torque insurance? im 30, insured R33 turbo for 20K with 60% NCB for $831, includes stuff like free windscreen per year, automatic no claim bonus protection, support and insure modifications etc.. I guess the quality of an insurance company is determined when you make a claim though Conrad

So guys, running stock intercooler on the car? Are you getting the big slump in boost around 4-5000RPM like I hear the R33 will do if theres no aftermarket ECU? Or is that only when going over 12PSI? Hmm... I might go for a quick cheapo boost upgrade while I save up for my FMIC, PFC and AVC-R if the drivability is still good. Need to get my HiTech exhaust ordered and on there.. stock system is strangling the engine I am sure

Hi guys, trying to track down the specs for the following following fluids in the car so I can change them: - gearbox oil - diff oil - clutch cylinder oil - engine oil - power steer oil I cant find anywhere that lists the specs of what the factory recommends (viscosity etc). I think i will go Mobile 1 5-50 for the engine, and Mobile 1 75W-90 for the diff and gearbox if I cant find any more details. I guess for the clutch cylinder/power steer I use standard powersteer oil. I am just going to use generic coolant for the cooling system, and generic brake fluid too. Anyone know where the factory specs/recommended specs are? Ta Conrad

Gradenko, is the series II dash physically different (eg shape and mounting points) ? If not, I could always try and source a series II dash section. Hmm, I could go ricey and paint it I guess... but something like metallic charcoal finish. Problem will be getting all the old armour all and 303 off the plastic so the paint actually bonds! hmm, thanks for the info Conrad PVA Glue - I ALMOST have my car now!! Its in my driveway, but it has to go back tomorrow to be inspected for compliance... I dont think I will have it registered for the cruise on the 8th

Anyone know a good place (preferably in Perth) to score a replacement dash trim? The section around the gear shift and the bit on the drivers door where the window buttons are is peeling and I would love to replace it. Thanks Conrad

I am insuring with Torque Insurance (underwritten by Lumleys) and they seem to have a pretty good package, good policies and great pricing! RAC cancelled a quote I had when I rang up to commence the insurance policy, so they can get stuffed IMO.

Thanks guys, I have gone with the Falken 451's - lets see how they shape up. I think GTR's would be awesome no matter what tyre you run, just vary how quick you get from A to B I guess ) Thanks Conrad
-
Thanks GTS-4OrCeD, youre a star I will take two, thanks dude I will try and make it to pick them for the cruise on the 8th, hopefully in MY R33!! yay!... but dont hold your breath, the compliance process is dragging out Otherwise, whats the best way to get the dosh to you? Thanks again Conrad

Best performance street wheel alignment settings?
slayer replied to slayer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks Blind Elk, they have all the settings on the whiteline catalogue -
Hiya, what is the recommended wheel alignment settings for a R33 GTS-T? Will be getting the car tweaked up for registration this week, and looking to get a good alignment on it for street work. Had my girlfriends FTO set up without providing any setitngs and they gave it 0 degrees toe front and rear, and wanders all over the road now Thanks Conrad

Hiya, I have been researching tyres for the months while waiting for my import to arrive... the day has finally come and it will get some new rubber and a compliance badge this week (yay!) so I have got down to two tyre choices... Bridgestone S03 or Falken 451. In WA tyre costs stupid amounts, and the 451s in 235/45/17 and 255/40/17 are about $1400 which is about the same as the S03's, so cost is not a real deciding factor. Whats the pick? I like the 451's for looks, curb guard (I dont think the S03 has one) to protect my new mags, and seem to get good reviews, and supposed good tread life and wet weather grip, quiet. The S03's sound like a technically superior tyre, but I hear they need regular rotation to avoid tramlining (a problem with differing tyre sizes front to rear) and have short tread life, although are awesome in the wet. I have also had a few people tell me they let go pretty abrubtly whereas the 451 gives you plenty of warning. Anyone got any comments on any of this? Without trying them myself its hard to find out which is a better tyre, but I would like to try and make the right decision Conrad

Hmm, well I was about the 3rd to agree to buy a hat but my name didn't make the list for some reason... I guess the order is done then? i was gunna grab two. Conrad

Hi, just about to recieve my R33 and going to do the usual and change every fluid on the car, including gbox and diff oils. Whats the best pick for this application? I used to get very good results with Mobil 1 gearbox oil on the WRX, but gearboxes can be finnicky and some will work better with some oils. Any suggestions? Thanks Conrad

Hi guys, I have just recieved my long awaited R33 from Japan, and it appears the condition report didnt quite cover all the defects... the paint is very badly faded (crazing in some places). Its Wine Red, which I know doesnt help (red seems to fade quicker than other colours) My question is - does anyone know any good detailers in Perth that can work on fixing this (buffing out, or some other treatment)? Or any products I should look at trying, other than the usual polishes and such? Thanks Conrad
