Surely there is a limit as too the maximum amount that the rb20det head can be skimmed.there must be a way to measure maybe a reference point on the top of the head to the block mating surface.i don't want to buy another unskimmed head as a reference, as that will tell me nothing other than mine is thinner.i just want to make sure im not gonna increase my compression ratio on my stock bottom end and damage anything.
  2. I obtained a recoed head that has been skimmed.my question I,s how to tell what the minimum thickness is,where do I measure it from and will I need a thicker head gasket.cheers
  3. when I got my skyline it wouldn't rev past 4500.the previous owner changed the usual crap that everybody changes when they don't know whats going on.ended up the fuel filter sock was full of brown crap.Old tank with a lot crap in it. I cleaned the fuel pump sock then I changed the fuel filter,problem solved,its worth a try.cheers
  4. Im in n.s.w. i thought about the neo as well,maybe it would be a better option i suppose as it is a newer motor than a r32 rb26.i will do some research and see what im in for.i suppose the hardest thing is the electrics are they not ?
  5. Is it hard to get a r32 gtst engineered with a rb26.it is cheaper to put one in than properly rebuilding a rb20det.
  6. can you use for example 850cc injectors with only minimal mods of course a nistune as well.whats classed as good average sized injector??
  7. I think I might just go the standard nissan.as there are very very slight machine marks in the head surface that might not seal properly with a mls.standard headgsakets are ok for moderate power increases aren't they.
  8. the mls gasket I have doesn't have any type of coating on it. it has a few marks on it but no damage.its about 2 mm thick going by a tape measure..

I inhiereted a mls head gasket.It is a 5 layer one.my question is do these mls gaskets come in different thicknesses ,are they reusable and because my head has been skimmed is it gonna stuff around with my compression ratios.is there a way to work it out or is a standard head gasket just as good.im going for forged pistons as I have to rebore slightly due to a bit of cylinder damage anyway.cheers

  11. want to upgrade my injectors,want to install a nistune,have a gtr pump.rb25 turbo,fmic 3" the usual stuff.want to know what size injectors do i buy.any help appreciated...
  12. i had the same problem with the oil pressure.its the sender.i bought a new one from autobahn and took out the old sender and and added a new oil pressure gauge.now its all good........only thing i dont have the low oil pressure light anymore.

After wasting 200 bucks on cleaning 6 rb20 jecs injectors i have learnt that it is not worth cleaning or reconditioning any type of jecs injectors.This also includes the gtr ones that are always mentioned for rb20 upgrades.remember how old these injectors would be...Talking to a fuel injector reco place this arvo he told me that mainly the old jecs injectors are prone to leaking where the plastic part of the injector joins the steel body.there is a factory o ring inside that u cannot replace and it leaks from here .it usually dosent leak on the flow bench,only after it cops some engine heat..better off buying after market than old gtr ones....If this saves one person some money.im happy..cheers
  14. hey all.are the r33 or r34 side bolsters on the front seats wider than the standard r32 gtst.i find them a little tight. they are adjustable but that little bit too narrow.are seats compatible between models.cheers.i tried searching this subject with no luck.

  16. hey all just wondering on what the standard suspension handles like and what is the ride height.also i have some tein hr but they too hard,can i change to a softer spring or will it still be as hard as a rock due to the dampening.car is only used on the road as a daily,but i dont want it too low currently about 335 rear and 330 front from centre to guard lip but i need the front a touch higher due to the spoiler scraping.cheers

  19. is it possible to convert the ceramic wheel to a steel wheel on a r33 series 1 turbo and if so what boost can it run safely.cheers
  20. thanks for the offer but im not playing with second hand injectors anymore.getting some new deutchworks 440 cc injectors and getting a nistune ecu from toshi.cheers
