  1. hi, recently got quoted $3500 premium 21 y/o Syd 0% Clean driving history r34 GTT - no mods should i jump to it or ring a couple more times?
  2. Hi All, I've justed test drove the r34 today and .... i was speechless.... it was AMAZING!! well i would have hoped so anyways as i'm upgrading from a camry lolz. ok.. i have a simple q .. hope some of you guys in NSW could help out. 1) i plan to probably buy on thurs and as the car is not registered, get the blue slip/rego done on that day. Now, when i hand over everything, how long would it take to get my number plates? I heard it takes a few days, does this mean i cannot drive the car home? Or will they give me a temp permit thingy. Thanks Eric
  3. Hi all, i'm in Syd and going up to the central coast to inspect a car and possibly get a blue slip if it works out well. Was initially going to use NRMA as a pre-sale inspector but they dont do compression testing. So can anyone PLZ recommend any workshops which would do inspections and blue slips in the central coast area? Addresses and Phone numbers welcomed.. P.S The car is stock but i would still prefer to take it to a more 'lenient' blue slip AUVIS. Thanks all Eric
  4. Hi all, edit: i posted this here instead of NSW section due to most ppl posting here + i've searched already i'm looking at inspecting an r34 gtt on wednesday... just have a couple q's and would appreciate if someone could help answer them. 1) The car has just been compiled but has not been registrated yet. Would the car have been mechanically tested during compliance or should i take it to a workshop just to be sure? This leads to (2) 2) The car is in Wyong, bout 1 - 1 1/2 hrs from SYD, do anyone know any workshops near there as I would not be able to drive it to SYD for inspection. My last option would be to take it to NRMA for inspection, which leads me to ask whether they are a good idea to use? Big thanks to all - Eric
  5. Hi all, I'm in Syd and with all the recent talk about curfews (although i'm 22), i'm afraid if they might just impose a power restriction on all p platers just like in Vic. This means that if I get a car now which is over the restriction, I maybe unable to drive it in 6 months time... Could this happen? Also, a question for the Vic guys, can anyone please tell me if an aussie spec s15 is restricted? (i need alternative vehicle choices just in case) s15: 147kw ,1270kg = not over right? Cheers, Eric edit: another Q for the Vic guys... if the car is restricted but its the only car owned by my family, does it mean i "may" get an exemption? /runs to sell the camry... :headspin:

    rego etc

Hi all, I've searched the forums already and have already a "basic" idea on what is required in rego-ing an interstate car to NSW Syd. However, I still have a few Q's which I want to straighten out so as to not dig myself into a hole. 1) When I buy the car, I should ask for the following docs (if he is missing any of these, would I still be able to rego the car in syd? If i'm missing any, could someone please add on to the list?) a) Compliance papers B) Papers proving he purchased the car back in 1998 c) Cert of Registration signed by the previous owner d) Receipt e) Engineers Cert ?? Would it automatically have an engineer cert seeing it is an import? 2) Another Q is the that the car already has a few mods (full exhaust, ARC air box, FMIC, BOV, turbo timer, boost controller).. I plan to replace the atmo BOV with a PB but do i need to get the rest engineered in Syd before i rego the car? Also , are 18" wheels too big for an r34 to pass blue slip? 3) I'm aware that i have (14)? days to rego it in my name after i buy the car?. However, taking the car to AUVIS, third tier inspection and organizing the CTP "might?" take longer than this seeing there are usally long lines at RTA and booking times? Would would happen in this case? Thanks All Sorry for the essay =
  7. Hi everyone, Did a search and didnt find what i was looking for so here goes. Say the private seller agreed on a price of $30K. When i buy the car, do I have to pay stamp duty? If so, how many % of the selling price is it? And also are there any other costs except ctp, rego etc? btw, i'm in NSW. also, does anyone know how much 'roughly' it is to get a car checked by NRMA etc? does it take long? cheers
  8. are valet parking actually relatively more secure? or can any guy off the street still get inside and take off with your car? any recommendations? also, does anyone know any "relatively" safer carparks in sydney cbd? everyone i know seems to have a bad history. thanks
  9. hi all i 'think' ive seen the thread before but after countless hours of searching on this forum and the web, i still cant find any. could someone please post up some links of shops in hong kong that sell car parts. i've got tonnes from japan but i know there are some in hk too. many thanks.
  10. Hi all, well i'm goin to get a car prolly within a few months and i am currently doing my homework on which car i should get. I WAS deadset on getting a supra but changed my mind due to the fact that i can bring myself to spend 30K on a 93-95 car. currently the choices are : 1) 00/01 s15 2) 98 GTT r34 3) 98 GT r34 (non turbo) i've checked insurance and it seems that I should be able to afford either one of these. now i have a couple of q's if you could please help me with (i'ved searched the forums and cant seem to find answers for these) i know i'm a newbie at this but hey, gotta start somewhere right? 1) I know that i should pick the car "i" want but i just want ideas from you guys. If you had a choice between the 3 cars above, which would you pick and why? The GTT obviously the most expensive, but is the cost justified? It seems more "rare" compared to the s15 but that will probably change in a few months though right? 2) What is a good price u've seen for a GTT and a s15? The average goin rate is around 37K and 30K respectively right? Reckon a GTT is 'gettable" in the 32-33k? I know the s15 and GT (non turbo) is. 3) Finally, how negotiable are the dealers? i know they probably give different offers to different people) but anyone here know anyone to get 1-2K off their price? more if i pay in cash? Appreciate your help and please dont flame me coz its so long =( Thanks p.s i am in syd and will probably go interstate if a good deal arrives
