LSX-438: I've had this argument many times with my mate and he likes to think that the current model r35 is leaps and bounds ahead of its 1st debut model. Can u explain the major differences between the year models and are there any serious mechanical upgrades other than the obvious remapped ecu? Surely saving over 50k on an earlier model r35 is better value for money, right?

i know that i WILL buy an r35 soon enough - its only a matter of time for me, but im not selling my ADM R32 gtr - i need a bigger garage as well to store both cars
-
for the r35 lovers - check this out! http://bcove.me/v8myh20w oh and i stand corrected, 0-100 in 2.72sec they are confident it will crack under 7:20 on the nurburgring

I just watched an official youtube clip of the MY2012 gtr, 0-100 in 2.8sec! This is now quicker than a superbike, absolutely amazing!
-
that is ridiculously awesome! that is quicker 0-100 than a superbike!
-
u would have to be silly NOT to take the lambo...sell that & you can get an r35, superbike, boat, supercart & more
-
+ the 30 yr gap in development, hence the comparison of a 67 mustang with a 90s vehicle (30 yr gap). assuming the mustang & supra's are highly modified street cars & pulling similar lap times (1 sec out); whereas brocks a9x is really not much quicker than todays street car (7sec on a lap) - maybe my maths is not that good, ive become too reliant on pc's
-
that is amazing! i grew up around muscle cars so i appreciate them more than a clean gtr! it sounds like pure evil & i luv it!!! the other guys obviously couldnt drive - this will put it into perspective for you...the legendary brock a9x torana versus a stock vx commodore (1 day i'll get an a9x, in memory of my dad):

i never really felt like this about my car but i am beginning to feel like 1 of those aussie muscle car owners "dont touch the car, dont even lean on it" haha its becoming ridiculously risky to take the car out, but im of the opinion that i'd rather enjoy it than the next person should i decide to sell -

Roy, that is an awesome bucket u have there, looks fantastic and beautiful colour! Regarding your question on the value of an adm gtr, Bob is definitely far more educated than most of us here but I will divulge what I believe and have read. ppl are already paying more for a good example up to 60k hence there is value as they more so limited in no's most other collector cars (100 produced but only 67 accounted for) + there 128 listed changes and yes most are cosmetic BUT its also the fact that it has those aust compliance plates and it dominated the ATCC series before it was banned by the aust public. Is it an aussie muscle car or an aussie muscler eater Check this out, not many changes at all with the phase 3 when compared to the standard gt (more focused on engine mods). The compliance plates is where the money is at: http://www.falcongt.com.au/PH3DIFF.html -

another red car bob - what was that 1 liner about men owning fast red cars? only joking. the interior reminds me of my mums vh commodore, sle 4.2ltr i know this is waaay off topic but i sold my dads lx torana ss which was a 5ltr, 2 door white, 1st owner, never in accident, genuine 200k on the clock - for only 4.5k in 2000 as we couldnt fetch anyore for it at the time. i spotted 1 for sale about 18mths ago for 100k in a museum i apologise guys in advance - i know this is an adm gtr register but i luv my aussie muscle cars -
point proven - the car is soooo well built that it is water tight maybe i am a bit of a gtr fan, todays shirt for Marko as per pic!

A good example of an adm which will hold its worth is the black gtr at crd with JUN plates on it, that has over 1300hp. Another very good example is keir wilsons silver gtr with RH9 plates. Both above examples are extreme performers where they have pushed the envelope, highly modified and tastefully done. You need to remember that these cars are now 20yrs old and I personally would prefer a built engine as we all know the cost behind building a forged engine and I also think the gtr comes alive when it is tweaked, just the way they were born into this world - to be built and raced similar to the ATCC series Winfield and GIO gtr. Regarding the bonnet pins, its no big deal because it is a replaceable panel, however, if you hacked the rear 1/4 panels for example, u cannot just bolt off and replace this panel - that was my point. Bob - I also agree with you 100%, I think if you can demonstrate that the gtr can be returned back to stock it is irrelevant. It really depends on the enthusiast as my brother in law has an xb gt and he was telling how anal some of these guys are, for example, the bracket that holds the spare tyre is silver welded (factory flaw as it cracks) and if this has been repaired in anyway with welding or rivetting - the car is looked upon as 'not original'...that to me is plain silly. Imagine that spare tyre becomes loose and the wheel hits the inner guard taking a corner? The damage far exceeds repairing a bracket. I work around the corner the throttle shop and I remember seeing your M3, I'm surprised you got more selling it thru a shop than privately. I guess its advertising it in the right exposure. Bob - what was the key driver behind the rise and fall of the AMC's in 07/08? -

Bolt on mods won't hurt it at all, its when u start drilling holes etc for speakers, body kits and when it can't be returned back to stock easily. Rebuilding the bottom end should add value as it provides longevity of the vehicle -
^ I have the same regard not holding onto my fathers lx torana 5ltr, 2 door white with black interior, 4 speed manual...such a loss
-
No offence taken at all roy but at the end of the day, u gotta support your own colours and more so when they have such a dominating history of wins
-
Then again, I wouldn't let go of my adm gtr - the thing is starting to appreciate and its been in the family since 95
-
I am definitely not 1 of of those "fanbois"...for me its simple, the most appeal lies on what sets the quickest laptime and obviously needs to be affordable. When I was riding bikes, I went from an r1 in 99 to a zx10r in 05 then a gixxer thou in 06 - reason is that these bikes were the benchmark for those relevant years. I am not brand loyal whatsoever, so much so if the new wrx or evo was quicker than the gtr, I'd more than likely sell my gtr for 1 of those. I know its shallow but this is me.
