  1. Didn't he get it taken off him by the british police after he did 300km/h in England? I have the video of his midnight antics, its a mental beast..

That was an RB26-powered JZA80, not an R33. The 300kmh R33 run was filmed in Tokyo on the Wangan as correctly stated by the OP :)....Smokey's a funny bloke. I had a chat to him about these infamous midnight runs and his trouble with the police when i was in Chiba. He didn't say much about them, just laughed and grinned through his gold teeth hahaha.....I also managed to get him to smoke up his own 35 for me right in front of their workshop!! :D

  2. Ok, let me get this out of the way first. I am well aware that the standard intercoolers on R34 GTRs flow very well and can handle in the vicinity of 370-380 awkw before they become too restrictive and an upgrade is needed. As it stands, my car is making power just shy of that and with some upgrades coming in the near future, I will be looking to upgrade my intercooler too. The car will not be a high-powered drag car (by high powered I mean a 500+ awkw monster) but it will be a super-street car ;) I currently have two options bearing in mind cost and relative performance gains. I have heard and read everywhere that ARC cores prove the best upgrades in terms of response, flow, heat soak and pressure drop, but you pay dearly for this gain. So the options I've narrowed down to are the TRUST Spec-R HG which measures 302x710x115mm, and the HKS Type R which measures 700 x 304 x 103mm. I can get both for around $1200-1300 at the moment. Does anyone have experience with either of these and what are your thoughts on using them for power in the range of 380-410 awkw? My main concern is decreased response and pressure drop with the larger TRUST core. What should I expect? Also, with the 115mm thick TRUST core, will I need to cut away at my front bar to make it fit??

  3. Doubtful. "Z-tune style". Original is $5k.

    +1 LOL

Can you please specify what you mean by genuine? Are you saying its a Genuine Nismo Carbon Z-Tune bonnet?

I think he means 'genuine carbon fibre' not 'genuine Nismo z-tune bonnet'. As nick_7g stated, the genuine Nismo ones are big bucks, usually around 5k, while all the copies (and there's plenty of them) are usually priced around $900-$1000 new. There are very obvious visual cues anyway that show whether it is in fact a genuine Nismo item, such as the presence of in-built water ducts on the underside of the bonnet - none of the fakes have these.

  4. How did it get stollen?

Some bad ass DKB gang-banger must have popped the lock with a coat hanger and made a hasty dash before the LAPD arrived.... :P

..in all seriousness, I hope you get your car back. I just started a new job in Balwyn and thought it might be safe to park my GTR out back of work on the odd occasion I might drive it there. Oh well, there goes that idea...

  5. LOL what are you on about? He didn't say that MrFijiGold owns the car. He said he is the one who mentioned the car that went to Greece, not MrFijiGold.

I once heard someone else make the same comment about 'only 19 z-tunes'. I take it they were not of the GTR-fan era that knew of the z-tune before its relesase (pre-2006) and therefore missed all the pre-release hype and publicity where Nismo regularly stated that 20 z-tunes were being produced for their 20th anniversary. I guess it's all one giant conspiracy theory and Nismo only turned 19!! Among other things I have even heard some people claim that 30 z-tunes were made and in different colours. My favourite rumour has to be held by these same people who believe that the midnight purple 'z-tune' that's floating around on the internet is a genuine z-tune from Nismo  .....HAHAHA clearly they have no idea what they're talking about

  6. the link Raj posted is the z-tune that came to Australia and it was number 14 owned by "John" as the name is on the brief case

Bobby that is correct - I only skimmed over the photos before and didn't notice. It was no.14 that came here first, correctly identified as 'John's' - The sound system you speak of was installed then removed. There was no modification required to do this as the standard GTR console already had everything in place for the sound system. I guess this information can now be shared publicly as it's in those photos!

Many people are familar with 2 of them, one of which is now in Greece as per MrFijiGold's post, the other owned by the member above. The prior of which you confirm isn't the car you speak of, and obviously, neither is the later.

Furthermore, against the popular notion that there are 19 Z-tunes in existance, you have come out to say that there is actually 20. Now it seems a little suspiscious that a third Z-tune seems to have flown under the radar when imported into Aus by this ex GT racer you speak of, and that suddenly there is an now an extra Z-tune that was produced by Nismo over its production. This mystery Z-tune wouldn't happen to be #20 would it?

Well, there is no mystery no.20 and there is no substance in the "popular notion" - it is simply wrong. I don't know where this idea that only 19 z-tunes were ever made came from as the whole point of the Z-tune was to celebrate Nismo's 20th Anniversary by making 20 Z-tunes - That is common knowledge, it is public knowledge, and it is information that is readily obtainable from Nismo both in official documents and if you're really intereseted, by contacting them. Also, I was the one that mentioned the car had been sold to a person in Greece, not MrFijiGold - perhaps you should read things more carefully before speculating that things are a suspicious mystery.

  7. Firstly Mate a good example sells for 7 to 9k so unless yours has gold plating somewhere you will be sorely disappointed and angry at people who offer you a realistic figure, secondly your for sale ad is horrible, no details on the car at all not even what colour it is, is that how you post up ads for immaculate cars?

LOL +1. VERY good examples will sell for 7-9k. R34 GTTs are going for the price he's after, and R33 GTRs not much more :O

  8. Hi Vesh, just wanted to ask a question about the 34 GTR brakes how you moved the front to the rears. Who did this for you? I was thinking of doing this but I read that it's a bad thing to do because they would clamp to hard and cause skidding? How do you find them? (Sorry to hijack the thread)

I was curious about this too. Where did you hear that? *free bump* lol

  9. The grey R35 GTR that came riding up my ass today at about 10pm on Williamsons Rd in Donny. Saw a coupe pull up behind me at the lights. Looked like a V35 skyline who had something to prove. So I LOLd and ignored you....... Turned the corner, put a bit of boot in it just for fun and you kept up. I backed off stunned, and looked out my window only to realise it was in fact another GTR who wanted to play!! I couldn't - my clutch was slipping under load in 3rd and 4th :( ....and it's illegal :whistling: LOL Nice meeting you Mr. Grey R35. Plates were X something something.

  10. Hmm interesting I know the owners of number 16 number 3 and number 12.

Why would Powerplay import a Z-tune with two hand brakes??? have a look at the number 14 that came to Australia plus this car was a private car sent in to become a z-tune. Number from 1-12 are all nismo selected. So this will add value to the car.

Bobby the car that was brought in was one of the original 20. The owner (through some connections he had in the international GT racing world) heard about the car well before it's public/media presentation, flew to Japan and went directly to Nismo to purchase it. In fact, he only spent 3 days in Japan and the whole trip was just to sort out the purchase of the car. This was probably 6 or more years ago so I don't think we are speaking about the same car or owner. I can get the build no. and other details if you would like, just PM me :)

It was a shame they modified the whole car and installed the huge sound system into the car in my opinion that car really wont keep its value.

Laggy????? I don't know any Gtr with twin turbo to come on full boost by 3700 rpm !!!

The car never had any sound system installed - the owner was a pedantic car collector and ex-GT driver. I guess in this light also, this is why he deemed the car to be laggy. He was comparing it to NA cars with 5 times the price tag and double the power output that picked up from 0. Also, to whoever was asking if it had been tracked the answer is yes. It was tracked in NSW before the owner had it transported to Melbourne. The very experienced driver/owner drove it both down the quarter mile and around a circuit (I forget which one) - this is what lead to him to speculate about Nismo's performance claims.

Z-tune is the most epic car built by japan.

All I can say this car does not drive like any gtr out there from factory! The way it handles the torque its amazing

I will not dispute these last 2 points. The z-tune to any real GTR fan was the top of the tree, the cherry on the cake. I guess it just boiled down to him wanting more performance when in reality, there are cars out there (albeit a lot more expensive) that will decimate a z-tune.

  11. When HPI did the re-release they had to find another narrator... Emilio Seballos...

    Hmm interesting....

back in the day they came out in both, the pal version had Ben (Aussie accent)

The NTSC version had the American bloke

I only remember Ben Ellis and his monotone voice :P Don't remember there being 2 versions when I bought the HPI v.2 and v.3 VHS' at the 2000 Melbourne Auto Salon.......ahh the memories......(I've still got em if anyone's keen for a vintage watch though I don't know of anyone who still has a VHS player!!)

  12. For anyone who remembers the old HPI VHS' (and later DVDs) from the late 90s and early 2000s, I found this American version using the exact same footage and script, FTW!!! - Was this done on purpose by HPI to sell to an American audience, or did some yank just decide to remake Australia's greatest car mag videos for his buddies in a language they would understand :P (in either case, what's wrong with the Australian accent?)??? Check the links out for both and post your thoughts:

  13. My guess is buying them off the net will be much cheaper than a group buy through said agent (his cut will probably offset most of the discount from the supplier). The Hasemi skirts are currently selling for $776 online though various vendors which is pretty good considering genuine R34 GTR Nismo skirts retail for at about 50% more. Bare in mind that that price doesn't include shipping, though I'm sure if one of you interested R33 drivers contacted the online store they would post your skirts out together to help you save on shipping costs. Just a word of advice to anyone who's new to buying GTR parts, often in Australia you will find a 'GTR tax' on a lot of the parts you buy, along with a disproportionate 'Australia tax' (pretty much a big f u from retailers because we live so far away from the rest of the world and back in the days we had no internet to to compare prices with). In my own experience (and I've been doing this for years), I have consistently saved 35-60% on brand new parts when buying online from Japan, compared to the prices offered by purchasing locally. Just a thought...
