Apparently some of the Power FC's are almost plug and play with pretty good mapping. Then there are others that barely run on the initial mapping. I plugged mine in to make sure it worked and it started ok. Drove a little with very low revs to be safe and it was pretty good with no idle problems, although it was running really rich. Yours could be one with nowhere near the right mapping. It could be something else though... have you checked for any sensor problems and made sure it has the right AFM selected?

R31Nismoid: Did you get it fixed with that stuff from Repco? I've just noticed some fuel leaking out the edges of my tank recently and don't remember hearing a noise opening the fuel cap today. I thought it was because of the new Bosch pump I had put in as it has only just started leaking, but maybe some seals have worn out...

No more problem for me Thanks for the tip boostmeister!! Turns out my problem was the fuel pressure dropping. When it would get really low the car would try to stall and when I tried to accelerate there wouldn't be enough pressure, so it took a while to build that up, explaining the hesitation. Put the earth from the fuel pump into a new place in the boot and straight away had a constant reading on the fuel pressure gauge. Took the 180 for a drive and it worked perfectly for the first time in a few months! The pump is pretty stuffed and must be on its way out if this has happened... it's all good though as a bigger and better Bosch pump is finding a new home in my car :burnout: -
There's an oil pressure switch located to the left of the oil filter and that's where you're meant to test the pressure from. I can send you some info... what's you're email?

I've got the service manual for an s14 sr20det if you want that? Don't know what the NPT is though.

My 180sx has a very similar problem. When I start it up it idles normally for about 30 seconds then it jumps from about 1500rpm to 500rpm and then after a while it stalls. Dr drift checked out the TPS and that wasn't the problem. I've swapped over a BOV and AFM from a working SR20 and that didnt fix it. I don't know if they are related, but I also have a problem that sounds similar to cowboyb. If I release the accelerator and then go to press it again it's like the engine dies for about a second. -
I'm looking at changing the stock filter in my 180 this week and was thinking a k&n panel filter would be ok. Is much of a difference between a panel and a pod filter?

If he's off his p's then its probably not him. The license plate had what looked like a small playboy bunny ears sticker... if that helps.

I was driving along St Kilda rd in my 180 last night next to a p plater with a white r33 gtst for a while. It had a nismo sticker on the front window, big exaust and looked pretty nice... Anyone here?

I have a blacktop SR20DET in my 180 and can tell you they definately don't have VVT. Only the S14 and S15 silvias/200sx have it. There is a different ECU in each of the three 180sx variants. Who knows why... could be better sensors like in the case of the different AFM. Turbo specs for red top and black top s13's are: Compressor: T-25, 60 trim 56mm BCI-1 compressor. Turbine: T-25, 62 trim 53.8mm 0.64 A/R turbine housing. Center Section: Journal bearings Now it's time for you to buy one!

Thanks for your help! Ok, so I guess I have a new controller and an old pfc... I still need to get a commander that works to see if the pfc is ok. If it's the wrong pfc then I will get a new one off Nengun. I'm getting another commander to try this week, so I will just have to wait and see if that one works!

There are two types of SR20DET's in the 180sx. First version is from 91-94 red top, second is from mid model update 94-98 black top. Don't confuse this black top with the one from the S14's & S15's as 180sx black tops don't have variable valve timing. If it has a flat cam cover then there is no variable valve timing. As far as I know the only difference between the red and black top is the colour! Of course you have added benefits of getting a newer engine with the black top but thats about it. I payed 13k for my mid model 180sx and am really happy with it, so for 16k you could find a very nice one, or you could save some more and get the 96-98 model!!

Sounds the same as my problem... Did your car start at all? Were the 3 commanders all off Nissan's? The info I have says that all Nissan power fc commanders apart from the r34 gtt are the same. part no. 415-F001 for everything except ER34 RB25DET 6/98- 414-N008 415-N001

EVL R33, It's second hand. Its plugged in tightly. The car starts up ok and idles... I dont think its the boost controller causing the problem as if it was it wouldnt start at all and I could at least turn the boost controller option off by using the hand controller. Could it be the wrong commander?

I just plugged my power fc in and it's stuck on the apexi logo... has anyone had this happen before? The exhaust temp signal is coming up, and the manual says that means one of the cars sensors isnt working, so maybe that's the problem? How do I get it working!?

Just make sure the battery is replaced every now and then! It would be so frustrating to find the spare remote wasnt working. I was stuck for a while in Chadstone late one night after a movie when my immobiliser battery died... I pulled the battery out and twisted it around and luckily it somehow had enough power to work so I could start the car.
