  1. Best daily is one that doesn't come on boost till 4k. Putter around all day under boost, no attention, no headaches
  2. Just get a bigger rear on your current one. You have heaps of choices. Just see what JEZ says. But I recon you will be wrapped with what you have once it's tinkered with.
  3. Agreed, if it was a 2.6 but its a 3.2. 0.6 litres per engine cycle increase is enough for it to outflow a small turbo rear which is OK on a responsive 2.6 setup. That's why he saw none of these issues on his 2.6.
  4. You are making a lot of assumptions as we all are. If there was excessive back pressure and the gas speed is slowed it would have the same effect but will be more detrimental to the engine. If the turbine is slowed the boost will drop, that's why we have a wastegate gate and the power still rises with rpm. But the gate is open by exhaust gas in the manifold, not the boost controller so you can set the controller however u want but the turbo's rear is too small and can't flow enough to evacuate gases which results in a power ceiling and also a gradual reduction in boost. The fact that boost had to be reduced to settle the other issues supports this to a point. So in response to Pete questioning why he can't have more power, well that was the rationale because they can't increase boost safely. The comment about a GT42 was merely to illustrate that people with bigger turbos don't have the issues like he is having. But he loves the response of his set up, no one is telling him to change it, he just asked many 'why' questions and theories we share and hopefully JEZ can sort it out for him, and when they do we can learn something. I would be a great car to drive regardless.
  5. Just read the last 20 pages. A lot of people have thrown different theories around with explanations. Maybe they are right or wrong, but the discussions have been enjoyable and valuable I recon, even if we are all wrong.
  6. You need to know oil temps. Is your water temps normal?
  7. More info needed: car, engine, stock or modded, after normal driving or after driven hard. Oil cooler installed or not. More info the better.
  8. Logically, it may be the reason they retarded the cams to solve the initial issues they were having. Yeah and totally agree with not touching the waste gate or boost control until there is a real understanding of what's happening. Piston ring and head gasket sympathy comes to mind.
  9. Yep I am narrow minded and talk rubbish. I agree. The best thing about theorising is disagreeing with with myself. I learn a lot from reading other peoples opinions and my own life experience. And I still disagree with most of the things I say as if the everything is just an illusion.Theory is an illusion in the non physical but the current reality lies with Pete, but soon enough will lie with JEZ then will become Pete's and then will become mine.
  10. Theoretically yes but really this is usually the last thing you do after the rest of the set up is A OK.
  11. Why? Just discussing what lith brought up. That's all.
  12. If he is bleeding off a 12-14lb spring and has a higher than expected exhaust manifold pressure at wot due to a restrictive rear then the gate will crack open, no question. This always happens in this scenario, not the first time and it won't be the last. With a larger higher flowing rear there will be a lot less manifold pressure at the same boost pressure, even running a 1.15 AR at 30psi I would expect to see less manifold pressure due to the lack of back pressure.
  13. Maybe, would be pretty disappointed if the workshop didn't sort that out. And boost can drop like that if the the rear is beyond its VE especially if manifold pressures were to rise and this would obviously crack open the gate amongst other things. I still think the .82/62 rear is way too small for a 3.2. Pete, seriously....Don't worry about all this response rubbish, just go and buy yourself a GT42 and be done with it. Rev the f@$king thing past 3000 and be happy with the face stretch when it comes on. Been done hundreds of times before and it just works.
  14. You can road tune off AFR but you have to tune rich at wot because you can't hear knock. But you really need a good ebc and fuel pressure gauge to look at. And of course the right injectors to start with.
  15. If it's the turbo selection that is causing these issues.... Everything else is irrelevant. See what the new tuner says.
  16. I would say a 3.2 would spool that up a lot quicker and a power would reach for the stars.Do you know what rear AR you have Pete? Please don't say you have a 0.6ish.
  17. My bets are on 1. Or maybe 2 because of 1. No one is calling you a DH Pete. You are asking questions and people are giving you answers. In a perfect world everyone would want maximum response and maximum power, in the real world the choice is always a compromise.
