  1. sumps and gilmer drives, sounds interesting. anyways when its all done, will be ready for the show and shine day on the 28th of march, maybe ill make some kits and bring them down if anyone is interesting in buying,
  2. has anyone tried castrol R for modified cars, ive been usuing it every 2-3000 ks, everytime i do an oil change its still very clear oil, i know you dont have to change it so often, but 100 bucks a month isnot gonna kill me to change the oil. i think personally from a lot of people i sopke to, it seems to be one of the best oils u can use in a turbo engine. $80 for 5 litres
  3. hey steve correct me if im wrong but on your power graph isnt the power fluctuating as the revs go higher, same thing happend to mine when i was overboosting on the dyno, had to adjust the wastegate to get a smoother curve..
  4. very good question, i didnt think of that one yet, but i assume if he makes custom kits for most cars, then either he modifies the original or gets rid of the balance all together, will find out when i take the car down to have it made, then again, he said he's personally never done a gtr kit befor, and so he soesnt even know if it can be made, but im hoping he can, but thinking realistically hsv's have gilmer drive kits, and they have harmonic balances so why wouldnt there be a kit for gtr's. i dont know why anyone hasnt made the kits and sold them to skyline owners.
  5. no there is not measarable power loss at the motor, if anyone is interested i was quoted 350 for pulleys and 100 to instal it, about 450 all up or close to it..
  6. hahahah DoughBoy your not from sydney are you, from my expericance with fast cars, rexys gtrs and so on,. if you were to pull over on the side of the road and look like you popped your radiator, cops aint gonna help you here, if your car sounds like its about to stop cops arnt gonna pull you over casue they dont want the hassle or giving you a lift to the nearest servo, so when i used to have a problem with my car driving and sounding like your car is about to fall apart, i never worry that cops are going to stop me, its only on my good days when everything is perfect and everything is as it should that i get hassled by cops and their defect stickers.... and the thing about the cam gears being tooth driven, your absalutly right, but i the kit includes straight cut pulleys for the water pump,alternator and crank, including the tensioner pulley, you must admit it is much safer for the engine
  7. hey sumo, they dont have to be 3-4 inches wide, kits come anywhere between 1-5 inches, most applications are about 4 cm which is under 2in, its not the thickness of the belt that matters, its the straight cut teeth on the lightened alliminium pulleys that help the belt not slip at high revs
  8. apparently they dont drain a lot of power, from the turbo engines, only on the supercharged engines cause they use the crank of the block to produce boost, but as was said for high reving engines they are very efficiant and will help prevent belt brakage due to strain on the standard v belt, and you dont want to snap a belt and bend a valve, $$$$$ to fix. anyways i will have mine hopfully next week, and for those who think the whining noise is annoying, i hope you think that from expericance cause if you havnt heard one, you dont know what your missing out on, sounds very hektic when on show or pulling up next to cops,, hahahahahh stupido police would probably think something was wrong with your car and leave you the hell alone. :flamed:

  10. yeah dan_the_man is right, your turbo sucks a lot of air through the airfilters, an air conditioning unit wont even have close to enoguh power to make a differnce, i had the same idea when i was supercharging my bmw, also im not sure about this but the air that is coming out of the A/C unit isnt oxygen enriched like air from the atmostphere, which means even though its cold your engine be able to burn it as good as normal air, correct me if im wront.
  11. i was told by a friend that he has someone who makes gilmer drive set for gtr, he told me he saw one that had the set and sounded absalutly crazy while it was driving past. down low befor it spools up sounds like a supercharger whinding up, and then the turbo kicks in and you can hear the spooling of the turbo, i was wondering if anyone was interested im buying a set, as i wanna take my car down and see if i can get one made for myself,. and also if anyone has a set on their car, can you tell me if it makes any differnce, or how does it sound on your car and do you or do you not recomend it. :wassup:
  12. can i add something quickly, your running twin t88's i assume to get that power what power you expecting on the wheels, and another thing the standard boxes arnt as bad as you think, mine is handeling close to 400kw@ all wheels and i havnt had any problems, i think thats close to 500 horses at the wheels, i know your expecting much more than that, but why dont you modify the original box then if that doesnt work consider the more expensive option.

  14. your oe of the unlucky ones, its only 50 percent of people that get asked to do an identity check, it has nothing to to with the car being flagged or anything like that, its just random, i was lucky to register my car without an identity check, but anyways like someone wrote on this thread if you knwo everyhthing is legal on the car you have nothing to worry about, cheers mate and good luck on the test,
  15. well its not very hard, i mean there are a few kits out there that are already made for gtr, but youll need custom catch can and stuff like that. but anyways its your choice.
  16. have you thought about getting the oil/water seperator hoses changed to braided hose lines. would make it look excellnt

  18. well i know that i didnt really care taking the waste gate hose off, max boost was 25psi, and in a rexy it screamed, only weakest link was the gearbox.
  19. hey Craved sorry i made a mistake i didnt get new gears he bought new syncros for me and had the modified every 2nd or 3rd tooth was taken off.i had my box stripped to see all the gears and if there was any damage, he told me for a 9 year old box, it looked almost brand new inside, no damage to any gears, the only problem was when i was in fifth it was very hard to gear down to forth, but the new syncros fixed that up stright away, now going through the gears is much easier... but i can give you the number of a place which can help you modify your box or basically do what you want to it
  20. well yeah i know but small mods dont always mean the cheapest right, for example eceryoen that ownes a car on the forum has a exhast and air filter, for most people thats just a requirment to have on your car for beter breating, basically you wouldnt count that as a mod that would help you significantly, but insatlling a power fc, and some injectors, well there you go thats a couple very small mods, but then again you might think of it differntly,. but thats what will help him acheive the power he wants from his gtr.
  21. hey jimih you dont have to buy a new box, my gears were crunching in 3rd and 4th, soi had the gears modified, costs about 50 bucks per gear, and 200 bucks labour, now it doesnt crunch and goes into gear much easier,..
  22. with power fc, cam gears, 4in exhaust, 720c injectors, fmic, 386 4wkw. its not impossible... sorry and 1.2bar. or 22psi, also have dyno results and list of mods which can help you acheive same results. forgot to mention standard internals.
  23. running single turbo conversion, i dont like the tein turbo set up on gtrs. but all will be revealed on the day
  24. hey B-Man not 386rear wheel kw, its 386 i 4 wheel kw, didnt tune it on rear wheels, and i dont even know if it makes that much of a differnce 4 wheels or 2.
