drive an auto and you will see that if you put your foot down that it still accelerates very hard. Great for driving around the city in stop start traffic. The auto's are actually underestimated. Even though the manual is superior as you can get more out of it (compared to a stock auto) the auto is good compromise. Heat kills auto's so the maximum limit is around 200rwkw. Once you go above this or even if you thrash your car around at this power level for a while, there will be too much heat build up. Spend $500 and get yourself a shift kit and bigger oil cooler from mv automatics and you can handle well beyond 200rwkw.

R33 Problem With High Boost??? Help
Fly_With_Sky replied to gdg079's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
probably the fuel cut kicking in...lower the boost to 10psi and see what happens. running 10psi would be safer for the stock turbo. Also, the higher you boost the richer the car runs with std management in order to protect the engine. So you may be making similar power at 10psi when compared to 12psi... -
well done on the times. Your pretty close to the factory quoted times. If you decrease you 60ft times then you should be getting the exact the factory times (14.3 i think nissan claimed). May i ask at what rpms you launched the car?

i agree with others on here who suggest the VW Golf Gti DSG. Seems to be a fantastic little car. If you want something a bit more medium sized, like spooks said a new liberty, or, my personal chioce if i were looking for a new car, an accord euro (i just love em)...

yes its annoying when you see idiots tailgate like that and then scream past you only tailgate the next person weave past him and then in and out of the next few cars...complete idiots. Funny thing is that you end up stopping next to him/her at the next set of traffic lights...

R33 GTST vs XR6 Turbo
Fly_With_Sky replied to GTS_300_Coupe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i am just curious as to why the high performance fordsd are always heavier than the high performance holdens? Fords are around 100-150kg heavier right... If ford could drop that weight somehow i wonder how their 0-100 acceleration times and 0-400m times would read... -
i suppose with the right amount of money anything is possible. But it wuold just be a waste of money as there is nothing wrong the the r33 5 speed g'box.

Gtr's... Sequential Turbo Set Up?
Fly_With_Sky replied to Phil Megroin's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
the GTR's use a true twin turbo arrangement meaning that it is NOT a sequential turbo system. So that is why the GTR's are more laggy down low in the revs as they have got each turbo working with only 1.3L and 3 cyclinders. Toyota's 2jz-gte engine on the other hand has a sequential turbo setup, however, instead of having a smaller turbo matched with a larger turbo, i believe the stock turbos are the same size. -
To fold, or not to fold?
Fly_With_Sky replied to rinmak's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i guess i would fold them in if i had to park in some tight space or get through a tight area just to make sure i dont break one off, but otherwise there is no real point to doing it is there? -
R34 4 Door or JZX100 Chaser
Fly_With_Sky replied to ?UESTLOVE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i would say the r34 has better exterior styling, however, having said that i like the jzx100 as well. (heck the jzx90 will do fine for me if i wanted a family car as its well built and is pretty much the ultimate sleeper). The interior is better in the jzx100 isnt it. Doesn't it come with carbon dash trims. Also with this car, even if you buy an auto it is still as fast as the manual. Also there is more room than the skyline apparently. However, it is more expensive than the r34 sedans. The skyline is a great performer and is always going to be a good car for you and i think all of us on this thread know it is a good car so it doesn't need explaining. Personally i would be happy with either cars if i were looking for a import sports sedan. -
series 1 i reckon

a nice aftermarket dump pipe and you should be able to hear the whistle or like others have said, stick on a pod and you will get loud sucking noises...
-
your running very very rich to only get 290km on 50 litres. Im running rich and get 400km on a full tank. Is this city driving only or mixed? Also remember boost comes on fairly early (approx 2300ish rpms on std turbo) so perhaps driving normal for you may mean changing gears at 3500rpms when the turbo is really on boost which equals more fuel consumption. But thats only a possibility i threw up in the air...

I was just about to buy a hks fcd off the nengun website and there are 3 types of the device (2 of which are said to be compatible with a series 1 r33 gtst). I was after some confirmation on this, wondering whether there is some major difference between the two that are compatible. The two types are the standard type (which i was going to buy) and a type h. The standard type would be fine for my application yes?
-
at your boost level i would recommend you get a good intercooler first. After that you can save again to get the ecu. May i also suggest a dump pipe and high flow cat, as the the stock dump is very restricitve...

ridiculous is all i can say about this race...michelin and the FIA should reimburse all the spectators that came and saw that rubbish... you would think that michelin would know that on a track where you are going 300kn/h plus around a bend, with this putting enormous strain on the tyres that they would bring a tyre to suit the circuit. But then again if they knew they had a problem since Ralf crashed on friday, then one would think that all involved parties (michelin, FIA, F! teams) should be able to sort it out in 2 days...

i think reading this thread made me have a nightmare about my skyline. Last night i had a dream that it had been keyed very badly as if someone thought it was a scratchie ticket... Felt better when i woke up and it was all ok...

HELP, Regarding License Suspension and P plate bans!!
Fly_With_Sky replied to habibskyline's topic in New South Wales
looks like you will not be able to drive it...doesn't the new law say that if you already have your p's but have your license suspended then when you get them back after the date the new law comes in, then you cant drive performance cars...think that what i read in the paper... simple fact is that you shouldn't have been driving, and your friend should realise that you haven;t got a licesne so shouldn't have got you to drive...if he can afford to pay part of the fine then he can afford to pay for a taxi... -
Hahaha 'gone sick on' that one got me laughing. Where did you pull that one from? Still trying to think exactly how one can go sick on a public road. Some sayings these days just have no logic when it comes to putting it into practice...

i am also interested, so would love to see some pics when you can do it...

Anyone here go and see star wars? I went to the advanced screening last night and on the way home saw a guy with a nice looking midnight purple GTR leave after the movie as well. Just curious if anyone else who shares my passion for skylines also shares my passion for star wars here? Therefore, having said that, its obvious that i am a star wars fan and loved the movie. It can easily be said that its probably the best out of them all. Great Movie.
