  1. i also have CEL permanently on - dynoe'd it to make sure no knock/leaning etc when I purchased the car and all good. i cant remember the error code, but i beleive it is to do with the oxygen sensors in the cats - they are very sensitive and as soon as one reads a value outside the normal range (which happens all the time running supercharger with aftermarket ecu, larger injectors, etc) it activates the CEL. i have also been told this by an official HKS approved worshops in australia who have seen this commonly on super- and turbo-charged VQ's. not sure what the deal with your slip and vdc lights though..
  2. interesting to read.that works out to 220kw @ wheels by my calculations. for comparison, my HKS GTsupercharge'd V35 makes 234kw @ wheels at 7psi max boost. so, basically similar results whether you go turbo or supercharged in terms of peak power. i wonder how the power deliveries would compare? what injectors are you running currently? i suspect your setup will be able to produce more peak power once you sort out the tuning/injectors and whatnot. i guess depends how much boost you want to push taking into account reliability..
  3. Bridgestone RE-11s fitted at Sinergy yesterday
  4. hmm whats this Uprev thingy?first ive heard of it. is it a replacement ecu? made by who? interested as my car (also supercharged V35) is running with HKS FconVPro which i am very happy with but its a problem if i ever wanted a re-tune as no one in Adelaide can tune HKS ecu's.
  5. moral of the story there would be, as i mentioned before, avoid knock off and crap brands (XO2/HKSreplica/BC/D2/JunBL/Nankang/ebay special/etc etc etc), pay a little bit extra and you get a product thats guaranteed to fit, look, sound and perform as expected. not only that but half the time by the time you pay to have the knockoff junk modified to fit you have spent as much as if you just got the proper stuff in the first place. 'do it once, do it right' springs to mind.
  6. what are you hoping to achieve with these coilovers?what are your priorities?eg just a nice drop with firmer handling on the road and low budget?or are you hoping to do some circuit driving?will you pay a bit extra for something made in japan instead of china or not fussed? some pretty good options here: http://www.rhdjapan.com/pinpoint_result?carMake=Nissan&carModel=Skyline+Coupe+350GT&carDetail=All&manufacturerOp=like&pp_manufacturer=All&category=16&category1=17&partNumberOp=like&partNumber=&featuresOp=like&features=All&keyWordOp=like&keyWord=&sku=&minPrice=&maxPrice=
  7. oops may have touched a nerve there! i suppose ebay replica stuff is the same as genuine in the same way as many people are keen to buy a fake TAG watch from bali instead of a genuine one-looks the same as long as you dont look too close, does the same job, some of them are pretty reliable and keep time 99.9%as accurately, all for much much cheaper. i guess i value the craftsmanship (weld quality, appearance, sound, design) more and am happy to pay a premium for it.each to their own..with exhaust systems its not a safety item like say, tyres, suspension,so build quality is not as paramount. returning to the OP's question, ive personaly driven a VQ35 with a fujitsubo legalis catback, amuse catback with tomei exh mani and front pipes, and blitz catback-all have in my opinion a very nice sound characteristic.quiet at light engine load and low revs, and a nice raspy bark under heavier load-not too loud but very nice. the tomei/amuse combo was particularly nice sounding an looked amazing, but of course this is a very pricey option! i guess i just wanted to say it may be worth considering replacing your existing one with something like this if you are not happy with the droning sound of your current one.check out this link for a selection of exhaust sound vids: http://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/353062-aftermarket-coupe-exhaust-compilation.html
  8. i have bilstein coilovers with hyperco springs,i'd say theyre a good compromise for street, winding road, theyre well dampened and the ride is very good but still firm and responsive on turn in.although personally i'd go for something a bit firmer for regular track work. previously had Zeal Function Xs on another car and was VERY happy with them, excellent for circuit driving but still pretty nice on the road, well dampened,no crashing ride. Not sure if zeal have a kit for V35 or if you have to adapt the z33 kit? from previous research i recall good opinions on Ohlins and Aragosta also-i think RHDjapan have aragosta kits at a reasonable price
  9. ?not sure why all these eBay special/taiwanese/chinese knockoff parts seem to be so popular?(appart from being cheeeeap!) my experience is if you want good quality fit, sound, performance, DONT BUY CHEAP SHIT PARTS??!!
  10. so...any updates on next meet?sunshine's out -perfect weather ps saw a red V35 coupe last night on lower northeast rd involved in nasty crash, hope all were ok..
  11. looks nice!any pics installed? i would suggest NOT to cut up your nice JIC catback to get rid of this drone! try JIC y-pipe or similar good quality item.
  12. sorry i couldnt make it,as predicted i had to work. i'll try to make the next meet..is there an SA 350Z/370Z club we could do a joint one with maybe?
  13. hi mate,im also in SA,and also have a V35. to answer a few of your questions: - i have found Sinergy Motorsport excellent to deal with, they have a lot of experience with V35s from regular servicing to tuning brakes, suspension, and engine work eg a couple of HKS GTsupercharger kits. very professional and good service. - i managed to replace the parker light bulbs myself without removing any part of the car,but removing the front wheels and plastic guards is fairly quick and alows you easier access to the main bulbs - try second hand japanese wheels?maybe R34 GTR rims?
  14. RE55s on an integra type-r lasted 3 trackdays plus about 6000kms daily driving.tyres make a HUGE difference to a cars performance-you get what you pay for more often than not. Also havnt had these myself but very impressed with a friends Direzza Star Specs-excellent lap times and he claims they are very progressive and provide great feedback.
  15. jeturbo thanks very much for uploading that for us,much appreciated mate!!
  16. pls dont confuse JUN (japanese high quality item) with JUN B.L. (korean rip-off sold by exhaust tech in sa).
  17. guy i work with has an immaculate super-low kay 350Z HR and his also revs very high up to ~2k-ish on cold start up. i think its normal.
  18. hi mate nice of you to come up and say hi. only did 2 runs as the waiting between runs was pretty long and had a family commitment that evening. best time was a 14.2 - a bit dissapointing!! a stock 350Z/V35 is meant to do about 14.4 so i was predicting mid 13s for my first time out.. several reasons for performing worse than expected i think: - inexperience at drag racing and quick launches - not enough heat in the tyres due to my piddly burnouts (as you mentioned!) - traction issues off the line - traction issues changing to 2nd - being a retard and hitting the rev limiter a couple of times (i think this stems from 6 years of driving a type-r integra that you had to rev the SHIT out of) i expected not to have as much issues with traction considering my comparatively small power and torque and decent sized street tyres. lesson to be learnt i think is that, like circuit driving, tires can make a HUGE difference!
  19. ps anyone got vids of my mate's black WRX STi that was there on the day?
  20. sky30, mine is a 6mt zenki, HKS GTsupercharger kit,Bilstein coilovers, 275/40 R18 Advan Sports on the rear, the standard R200vLSD and a twin plate clutch that's hard to launch with! 234rwkw on the Willall dyno. a stock 350Z/V35 is meant to do about 14.4 so i was predicting mid 13s for my first time out.. several reasons for performing worse than expected i think: - inexperience at drag racing and quick launches - not enough heat in the tyres due to my piddly burnouts - traction issues off the line - traction issues changing to 2nd - being a retard and hitting the rev limiter a couple of times (i think this stems from 6 years of driving a type-r integra that you had to rev the SHIT out of) i expected not to have as much issues with traction considering my comparatively small power and torque and decent sized street tyres. lesson to be learnt i think is that, like circuit driving, tires can make a HUGE difference! pretty keen to see if i can improve on my pb around mallala (1:23.05 in my old 118fwkw type-r).
  21. hey JETurbo thanks for posting that vid up. thats me in the V35. it was my first time at the drags and i really enjoyed it, but i was a bit dissapointed with my best time of 14.28 (only did two runs, the first was a 14.92!) i was expecting to go at least a second faster!
