  1. ? didnt see any mention of 'ultimate' in the article?all of the tuners were running reprogrammed/swapped ecu's or HKS FconV Pro.you think UpRev would be a superior choice?
  2. nankangs suck what on earth are you guys thinking running shit tyres on a sports car?tyres have a bigger effect on handling than ANY other component. get the best tyres you can afford,at a minimum something like Bridgestone Adrenalin, Dunlop Sport maxx or Yoko S.Drive or similar.. I had Yokohama Advan Sport which were good, now running Bridgestone RE11s which are really good! i would consider a better tyre in a narrower size over a crap tyre in a wider size too.
  3. for those of you with an interest in taking your V35 to the track.. MCR (Matchless Crowd Racing) are best known for their red R35 and R34 GTR demo cars often starring in BestMotoring videos, however they also had a CPV35 demo car - one of very few japanese tuners to track-tune the V35. here is a JDM Option feature with their demo car at the 2005 Nismo Festival: http://www.jdm-option.com/eng/feature/05_12/z33_v35.html and a couple of photos below
  4. try sinergy i have had very good service with them, highly recommended.
  5. i its street driven only i'd steer clear of twin plates unless its Nismo. ive driven a BCNR33 with a nismo twinplate and it was exceptional! great feel and bite but very streetable, much more friendly than the twinplate in mine, which only feels good when youre driving hard and is a PITA in traffic.
  6. as far as i know, all coupe V35s have dual front, curtain, and side(seat) airbags.so yes changing the drivers seat will mean you lose the side airbag, however if done correctly your other airbags should function correctly. passive safety would still be much better than for example any previous model skyline. for anyone much over 190cm tall there is a definite argument for changing to a lower sports seat, however be warned, some will be too small-i tried out a bride zetaIII and it was too tight a fit!
  7. cool car, definitely more 'unique' than the hordes of evos built for circuit work. made me think of this car:
  8. here's another dealership worth checking out: http://www.ms-musashino.co.jp/ for 86s theres the obvious Tube garage and carland86..they have some beautiful cars in stock, but $$$!!
  9. yeah the toyota 1G isnt a great engine..the 7M is pretty good as long as the head is looked after..but yeah the updated 1JZ engined jza70 is post '90.. regarding Z31s, again im no expert, but there are quite a few variants.. 1983-86: Fairlady Z (VG20) /Fairlady 300ZX (VG30) VG30ET 2 seat slicktop or t-bar roof VG20ET 2 seat slicktop or t-bar VG30ET 2+2 t-bar VG20ET 2+2 t-bar VG30E slicktop or t-bar 1986: Fairlady 200ZR RB20DET 2 seat slicktop or t-bar roof RB20DET 2+2 slicktop or t-bar roof 1986-1989: 300ZX - VG30ET 2seat or 2+2 300ZX - VG30E 2seat or 2+2 300ZR - VG30DE 2seat or 2+2 200ZR - RB20DET 2seat or 2+2 depending on specs,anywhere between 1160kg (VG20ET 2 seat slicktop) to 1490kg (late model 2+2 VG30ET/VG30DE) the one to get would be a 2seater short wheelbase, RB20,VG30ET or VG30DE. although none are particularly fast, they are pretty cool! the RB'd cars are popular for RB26swaps.. have you considered a neat R31 GTS-X? can get a real minter for about the same as a so-so DR30.. Gts-R or Autech version if you can stretch for a few more yen
  10. http://www.r30.co.jp/ here's Jesesis's website.
  11. Jenesis make coilovers specifically for DR30, i think Tein have a model for them as well if you look up their model lineup.
  12. i like your taste in cars! i had a DC2R for 6 years, awesome cars, and i love the jdm front. clubitr.com.au used to be a great source of tech info eg track setups, reviews etc, although i havnt visited over the last few years.. i also have a soft spot for 80s jdm sports cars, DR30 being my favourite! DR30 coupe would be my #1 choice, coupes tend to be more collectable than the sedan, since they look sexier and also werent ever sold in australia unlike the R30 sedan, which makes them a bit more unique here. personally i love the tekamen-face '83-'84 models, and i think the HT RS-X turboC would be the one to get, as it runs the factory intercooler (earlier turbos were not intercooled) and i beleive slightly higher comoression and power.. there are a few shops in japan which specialise in the R30 - check out Jenesis, Utilitas, Rising, etc, so parts are still available, though not as easy to get as stuff for more modern cars. other options?..hmm..i quite like the MA70 Supra Turbo-A, also the R31 GTS-X/GTS-R, MZ20 soarer if u can find a manual.. Z31's are pretty cool, if you could find a nice short-wheelbase 2 seater that would be sweet (they look better, handle better, and are lighter than the aussie long wheelbase 4seaters), one option would be the late model Z31 swb 2 seater with the VG30DE N/A quadcam update engine.. eg something like this: http://qflyrat.blog111.fc2.com/blog-entry-277.html or the early model slicktop 2seater turbos are also nice..also the RB20'd Z31s are popular for RB26 swaps
  13. i guess i should put up an EOI for my Bilstein coilovers in the next week or so then..
  14. cool build! ive seen a 350Z with RB swap, but never V36..look forward to seeing this progress!
  15. i think there are two versions of the nismo front bar - one with carbon lip/splitter and one without (look on G35driver i think..) agree try jesse streeter have dealt with him before and very happy with his service
  16. standard V35 has a fairly stiff, modern chassis which is a good baseline for good handling, although arguably its closely-related Z33 stablemate is a better base as it is a good 30-80kg lighter (depending on spec) and has extra under body and chassis bracing as standard. standard characteristics is fairly neutral, with mild understeer near the limit and can have some power oversteer. like in this best motoring vid: any car thats almost 10 years old may need a suspension refresh (bushings, maybe worn shocks, etc) to perform at as-new level. lowered springs not matched to the shocks will increase shock wear and reduce handling capability. as will putting on crap tyres which seems to be unusually popular amongst skyline owners for some reason. if you look at most serious handling-focused setups for V35/Z33 they will use 18 or 19" at the largest wheel, but of course wider and more agressive offset than the standard rims.
  17. 23L/100kms *facepalm* running a little rich, jdm style smokey.anything over 1/2 throttle and you can smell it (supercharger+530cc injectors+HKS Fcon tuned the japanese way)

  19. looking good adam! benny yours back on the road yet?
  20. thanks for the info scotty nm35 and futo gt not sure whether to go fixed or recliner, reclining ones are almost 2x rrp of fixed models. narrowed down to i think: *bride zeta III typeL *bride zieg III typeR LowMax *bride gias II LowMax *recaro profi spg xl ..i think i'd prefer bride as i love the 80s style gradation pattern oh and no im not interested in anything copy/replica/ripoff.
  21. just wondering if any of you have swapped out the standard driver's seat in your V35? if so which seat have you installed/seat rails used, etc. i am considering doing this as i find the standard seating position quite 'high up', and with helmet on and correct fairly upright driving position the helmet brushes up against the roof - not good! and yes i realize it will involve side-airbag delete. i am fairly tall (193cm/6ft3) and about 90kgs, and as far as i know there are no shops in Adelaide with Recaros or Brides in stock for me to test sit in. not sure if i would need the XL models?
  22. thanks forthe replies guys. definitey agree a set of s tyres will make the biggest difference in lap time-my lap times at mallala in my integra dropped from high 1:26s on street tyres to low 1:23s on RE55s. stil i am considering changing the coilovers too.just waiting on a few quotes..so there might be a set of Bilstein coilovers up for sale soon
  23. i currently have bilstein coilovers on my V35 but am thinking about changing to something a little more aggressive for track work. just wondering i there are any coilovers that could be recommended by those of you with some track experience (not bc,killerB,or any eBay specials) i have been considering Aragosta TypeS, JIC FLT-TAR, Zeal FunctionX.most running 12kg/mm front and 10kg/mm rear springs. Also would be doing bushings at the same time, can anyone comment on SuperPro and Nismo bushings?
  24. i saw this a little while ago on jdmst. nice work! similar setup to mine. i also have HKS GTsupercharged 6mt CPV35. your power goal is definitely realistic - mine was dynoed at 234kw@rear wheels at Willall, and they are renowned for a fairly conservative power estimate. 7psi max boost and a lovely safe 10-10.5 AFR throughout the rev range. mine is running 530cc Sard injectors though, and HKS FconV pro. how do you find the 5zigen headers and midpipes? are you running cats?
