  1. Thanks for the replies guys, most probably its the tune. Weird how the tuner didnt sort this out, I was even narrowing down to a clogged fuel filter. I wonder if it only happens at that rpm range. If it does, I can live with not revving up to 7k rpms and might just going to get a retune in a couple of months time.
  2. Hi Guys , just did a dyno run recently on my 34gtr. PFC Front pipe, apexi pods decat full exhaust I made 338hp on 4 wheels with 37 KGm of torque. I was just wondering, looking at the graph, does anyone experience a sudden leaning out of mixtures towards 7k rpm as shown in the graph? Could it be maxing out of afms or injectors? The engine hazard light did flash. I was thinking along the lines it could be detonating as well. Btw, anyone noticed any difference when setting up the pfc using the normal air filter or selecting the power intake option? Thanks
  3. Paul, The tuner did not connect the hand controller when the tuning was done, and he did shut the engine off first before reconnecting the hand controller. I just took it for a short drive, with -3 off the ign timing. Yes, the knock is considerably lower now, with max of under 30, as compared to fluctuating of 50's to 90's. When i first start the crank, its 94 lol. Hopefully no damage was done, as i was only part throttle of say 30-40% with revs of 4k. Will ring the tuner up tomorrow and ask if he took the average or max values in the datalogit. Cheers
  4. I did mine on a road tune, and during the tune, the tuner says the knock is below 10 on the datalogit. When he plugged in the hand controller, while i was driving home, at max rpm of 4k, probably 30-40% throttle, knock of 95 is shown as the peak. Even in mild driving styles, knock would go up to 50, like i mean really mild driving styles. Compared to my SAFC2 i had earlier, the readings are much lower, ie under 10, and the occassional 20+. Im going to bring back to the tuner in a week or so to fix the problem, from what i have read from the previous posts, it doesnt seem to fix the problem? That there is always a varying difference in the readings in the datalogit and the hand controller. Cheers Daz
  5. Its so true, about the whole mac users and minority of honda owners. Of course im not dissing all of them, im just sharing experiences and wondering if anyone had similar experiences. Just find it amusing. But yea i agree some of the hondas out there are quick, no doubt about that especially on tight corners, but on straights probably they are not built for that. But yea each cars are built for a purpose. What a coincidence, I used to have a friend who tells me everyday how I should change to mac, telling how superior it is over the normal PC. When it comes to work in the office, he gives excuse that he cant do it because applications like powerpoint might not be compatible with his Mac... P/S : Those pics are golden !!
  6. Recently a mate of mine just told me how excited he is on his new purchase. He bought a eg6 with a B18c in it. He was telling me just how astonishing the car is. While that is all good, until he told me how powerful the vtec is when it kicks in and stuff. To the extent he said the vtec is best not to be used on the streets, because its too fast and propels in front and hits the car in front. I was just dumbfounded when he said that. Any similar experience that you guys had or heard of ? i just find it amusing
  7. I listen to trancy songs most of the time, hard to get bored of my cds
  8. Nice one saff, the car looks ace , congrats on the purchase ! The car looks really mean
  9. I was there at bangkok earlier this year too. Made a trip to the HKS thailand, was quite a mission getting there as the taxi driver did not exactly knew where it was. However, he immediately know where it was after i pointed a ricey HKS sticker on his cab , lol. No skylines at the HKS shop , but s15's 350z's with rb26 in them with huge single conversions. Like Ash said, food there is simply amazing, so is the price. Recommended holiday destination ~
  10. My car is a gtr , from what i have been told, as long as the sensor numbers are the same, it should be okay. Ie 3in 3 out, or 1in 1 out . However this might not be the case for the sensor calculation setting. But fortunately that is correctly setup before the tune. The sensor numbers will only affect the tuning or performance , if the in and outs are dffierent. This is what was explained to me by my mechanic. Does any one knows about this ?
  11. I had the similiar problems when my mechanic installed mine. I increased the aircorrection settings to 16% and it seem to cure the problem and the hotwires were set wrong. It was set from 1-1, when its supposed to be 3-3. After these settings, im seeing if it starts normally tommorow on a cold start.
  12. hi guys, i just got a tune on my gtr using the safc. After two days of not starting up my car, today the car seems to struggle to start up during cold start. I increased the airflow correction settings and this seem to help giving a more stable idle. Doubting my tuner's settings, i ran through some settings and found out that the sensor numbers for the hotwire settings are 1 in and 1 out , instead its supposed to be 3in 3 out according to the manual. Im just wondering with these different numerical values, does it affect the tune , such as giving wrong afr readings ? Do i need a retune ? Thanks
  13. Thanks for the suggestion , will try it out if it is available here.
  14. Thanks for the input to4gtr, i will try using penrite or the other alternative is to use sthe v160 supra gearbox oil .
  15. The ones from motul are also 100% synthetic . Some owners have been using it for few months now and its been ok for the time being. Just need more opinions from what other getrag owners think.
  16. Hi guys, was doing some research, and found that some r34gtr owners in uk are using the 75w/90 in the gearbox oil and the ATF in the transfer case and this is recommended to them from nissan. From what i have observed, the ATF has thinner oil properties that allows smoother gear changes but doesnt that also leads to less protection as it is thinner ? With thinner oil, you save the syncros but does that lead to a long term damage to the gears ?
  17. Im in malaysia yeap, this is for the actual gearbox. Is matic-d an automatic transmission fluid ? Some GTR's here running on motul gearbox oils. Any opinions anyone ?
  18. hi guys , i know for the r34gtr getrag boxes, the best oils to use would be the transmax z from castrol. But i cant seem to find it here in my country. Are there any alternatives to the transmax z ? Currently the only castrol ATF that is supplied here is the TQ-D and TQ-M if im not mistaken. I have also been recommended the motul ATF but im not very sure as the getrag is highly selective in its oils before the synros goes away . Suggestions anyone ? Thanks
  19. Thanks for the input. You've got a point . But i thought the exhaust temp is also to monitor if your turbos is being cooled enough, although the location is quite far off, but it at least serves as an indication ? But i think it should be alright. Thanks for the input Cheers
  20. Hi guys im just wondering if any r34gtr owners that have replaced their cats with a straight pipe has any problems with their exhaust temp readings on the mfd and if the readings are still functioning properly. I have heard from few owners that the better flow will result in higher temps and the likelyhood of it destroying the sensor is quite high. i still would want my egt sensor being put in and can monitor the readings. Not really considering the option of just plugging out the egt sensor as most owners would do. Cheers
  21. With the current standard cat, another extra rear muffler on a nismo jasma exhaust its already up to 1 bar, if i de-cat it and take off the rear muffler or silencer, would that be near 1.1bar ? Any experiences from 34gtr owners ? If thats the case, i have to stick to the quiet exhaust?
  22. Thanks for all the feedback guys, sure does makes me feel better now. Paul : Whens the next cruise up ?
  23. Thanks beagle, it does assure me that I am in the safe area. Just that being nissan, even when everything is stock, it has known to cause damage to the turbo or engine. I was just curious, not that i have a problem with it being standard. As most people on the forum are suggesting that 12psi seems to be the safety threshold for most standard turbos should be running and anything above is a gamle, and 1 bar is 14.7 psi , i was just wondering earlier if thats okay.
  24. Ok ,thanks for the input . Just thought of being a little more safe , thats all.
