  1. Hi All, Thinking about my next car. I don't necessarily want a car with loads of power. Would like something that feels good to drive and every review I have read suggests that the boxster is a great drive. You can get an early model boxster for around $50 large. My only concerns would be the drop in power (the 2.5 litre boxster generates 150kw at the fly). Currently my skyline is generating around 155kw at the wheels so there may not be a huge difference as I am led to believe that Porsche tend to understate their power figures if anything . Also concerned about ongoing costs. What do you guys think. Is there anyone who has driven one and how much more is ongoing maintenance than say the average car? Cheers
  2. Saw top Alcohol for the first time. All I can say is woooow. Phil Reid was sitting on the line and I expected it to be fast but wholy hell. Your whole body shakes. Even my vision shakes. Just amazing. What sort of power are those cars putting out? 5,000hp? If you haven't gone give it a go just for a couple of hours. I wouldn't call it exciting though it is an eye opener.
  3. Here is a clip of a different electric car http://videos.streetfire.net/search/electr...83b012b84e7.htm Watch it take off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Isn't that a picture from the Holden factory???
  5. I personally think that cars in general have never been better. I have been interested in cars since 1995. Even during the 1990's and up until around 2003 I just couldn't believe how dull most of the cars were. Commodores and Falcons were extremely boring and ugly Camry etc had no character Mazda had zero style. Atlest now I can look at the Mazda range and be reasonably impressed with their efforts. The Holden and Ford range isn't for me but they are a reasonable design. What I like about most manufacturers is the way they each have a common theme throughout their range eg. mazda and toyota. Exciting designs should remain the relm of sports cars and other rarish models.
  6. I saw beyond tomorrow and the koenigsegg ccx is one crazy car. it set the record of 388 on an oval which limited speed. that was with the ccr. they are attempting to beat bugatti's new record with the ccx. i think that is a tall ask. it is well down on power and torque (although i would put up with these deficiancies). it will need aero on it's side to win this battle. to the genius on this forum who could build a better bugatti than bugatti do using the bugatti team and budget, i wish you luck and question why bugatti didn't source your expertise in the first place. would your input have been "just make it faster boys". No offence, just jokes. Basically I think bugatti did the best they did with a bunch of brainy engineers.
  7. I plugged my car into Donkey Kong and every time we approached a barrel my car would jump. :sorcerer:
  8. From what I have read, Nissan are using Cosworth in the development of the new GTR. Although this sounds like a good move, why would they not call on the resources at Renault. I would think Renault through their racing heritage whether formula 1 or other would be in an equal position to advise and provide this advice at a discounted price.
  9. There was a Jeep in Newcastle with around 25" wheels and very low profile tyres. It looked sooooo wrong. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw it. I'm happy with my 17" OZ Racing wheels. Prefer practicality over any form of bling.
  10. Hey all, Just found this video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1914692207624681889 I know the bike is not a Moto GP bike so I'm not showing it for that purpose. I was surprised to see how much faster the F1 was in the second race (sorry for wrecking it). The way it accelerated away was pretty impressive. Cheers
  11. so who won exactly? if it was your friend, his car would have to be heavily modified or the ford towing a caravan (as they do). my thoughts are mid 6's. why? they feel very similar (maybe a little faster) than the 2 s15 200sx's i've been in and on average I think their times have been aroun the 6.5 to 7 sec mark. That said they have very different power deliveries so i may be off the mark. I think it's one of those cars that feels very sluggish until you apply a fair bit of throttle. in addition they can sound like they are trying when they are not.

    24 Hour Le Mans

Thanks. Thought I was on the wrong track (no pun intended) and it didn't quite add up. cheers
  13. Hi, I was looking at the lap times for this years 24 hour le mans. The pole was 3 mins 30 seconds. They do use the 13 km circuit (where a production car is generally considered fast if it can go under 8 minutes) don't they? If yes, that effectively means that the average speed is over twice as fast as cars such as Carrera GT which I think do it somewhere between 7 minutes and 7.30!!!! Even the Porsche GT3's do it in around 4 minutes. That's freakishly fast!!! I definitely want to go and see it one day. Not necessarily because of the speed, but because of the cars on show. Ferrari's, Porsche, and their the slow ones. Wish it was on TV. Cheers
  14. Totally agree with that. Unless Nissan come up with a 4wd system (and suspension setup for that matter) that is far superior than that in the R34, then it won't even come close to the new 997 911 Turbo. Porsche just seem to be able to build something special everytime. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does.
  15. I think torque will be the key. If it gets 600 plus Nm then it will be an absolute monster.
  16. Didn't read the article, does it say how much power it is expected to have. Anything under 450hp will put it way behind the Euros. Also, is it just me or does it have a slight mustang look to it. not say I would confuse the two (I'll go wash my mouth out with soap and water)
  17. I thought the F50 looked super too. You don't realise how good some cars look until they are next to another great car. The wing looks a bit old school though it was sort of a leader of it's times and surely everyone would want to own one (except for maybe those who own an Enzo or Zonda, Carerra GT, Vehron, McLaren SLR, McLaren F1, Koenigsegg, et al. or GTS25T in my case).
  18. FYI the purpose of this link was simply to give everyone the chance to marvel at the cars you often see in pictures but very rarely see racing. It wasn't to put skylines down as I, like you, am a supporter of the Skyline.
  19. Yes the R34 is a GTR but in my opinion a stock GTR is severly outclassed in that company. I understand that a heavily modified GTR will be able to keep up though a stock GTR is always going to be beaten. It gives a good reference point as to how fast the other cars are.
  20. oh you want the link too. Greedy people. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/gt2/0/...6FE31DC61B4.htm
  21. Pretty cool race. It's great to seet an F50 and Diablo racing. Sure the Porsche GT2 is old though still a pretty fast car. Including a stock R34 is just a silly inclusion in this company. Just out of interest, how much money would you need to spend on a R34 to get it up with the front runners. Some people I imagine would say "just up the boost" though in reality I imagine you would need to throw at it. Anyway hope you enjoy it. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/gt2/0/...6FE31DC61B4.htm
  22. Looks like an autobot out of transformers. I expect it to fold into a man any time soon.
  23. go for stealth wing. I think the s2 is a step backwards over the s1 wing. personally I thinka 2 year old could have designed a better wing than the one they disigned for the series 2.
