Hey guys

My car has been playing up for a couple of days now, took it for a service to Adam's Auto Centre at Woodcroft. Service and inspection $423, oil, filters, plugs and tune. Scantool says its the afm :P

Just wondering if there is still a group buy for this? I know Cubes you were doing 1?

Anyone got a spare 1 lying around so I could buy/borrow it for the cruise? Cant get a hold of 1 until next week?? :P

YO - I got one

a standard Rb25 unit, I put in a Z32 item recently

Im in Morphett Vale.......

email me if ya need.

Does the rb25 slot straight into rb20 type?

if so, how much you want for it? i'm in woodcroft!

Thats something Im not sure about, at all... sorry.

To be honest, Id rather not 'sell' the unit in case I ever get defected for my Z32 unit. Im hoarding my spare parts for "just in case". But more than welcome to 'borrow' it mate, to help you out for a few weeks, no problems there.

If the RB25 unit fits, then so would a Z32 afm? That being said, the Z32 is obviously the best choice for further tuning mods, I was near maxing out my RB25afm at only 140Awkw (was 4.95V, max is 5.15V?).

The Z32 afm lets you tune the beast just that little bit more lol! Now Im safely at 160Awkw with plenty of scope for more tuning when I (can afford to!) add on the hiflow turb'.

Maybe send an email about RB20's running a Rb25/Z32 afm, to Sydneykid, Cubes, Paul33, or R31Nismoid, or someone who knows their stuff?

Checked out the RB20 turbo sticky thread (ie dynographs etc) in the forced induction area - to get good power they're all using Z32 AFMs, or a VQ45 afm.

So if you want to borrow my RB25 unit, no worries, but better off purchasing a Z32 unit in the future....... plus a massive twin turbo setup, etc etc lol!

hey how much do you want for the Z32's and clips im very keen

I've been told that I probably can sell them for $300 each as these comes with harness and flanges for easy bolt on.

For you I can do $250 each pickup.

Let me know, they just came off the car yesterday. Car had 380rwkw and idled well with these on so there is defitely no problem at all ....or money back.

They are at Willall racing atm. I'll be there after 1pm today. So let me know before they collect dust.

hey adam, my r32gtr was playing up since last sat[11 feb] and i took it in to steve at manta racing on thursday[16feb] he and peter worked on it {retune} cleaned the sensor in the afm which unfortunately didnt work {might for you} and found that he could only get one from sydney. It got here friday and after another quick tune had me on the road again by firday afternoon. great guy{steve} and doesnt cost the earth in labour. look him up in the pages. what better than having a guy{steve} that tunes bently turbos etc and peter hall {had a lambo and gt3 porshe waiting for service} working on your car for a good price! lots of other workshops charge the earth when they hear GTR!!

Yeah thanks bwilkeson for the lend of your afm! Greatly appreciated, mine didn't start playing up until I was 2 streets away from home after the cruise. I think I will try to hook yours up until I can get (afford) one. I cleaned mine about 3 days ago and no problems until today, I guess its a short term solution. ;)

I paid $250 for my Z32 afm, so thats definately the going rate.... well worth the dollars, unless youve got ~$450 to spend on a new item.

$450 each was what my car previous owner paid for his z32 as well. He paid extra for the adaptors/flanges. I could not throw in the harness because Peter Hall left that on my car.

The first $450 offer will have both my Z32 and 2 adaptors.

My pleasure.

Well done on the organisation of the cruise, you did an awesome job (with help from other SAU forum users).

Tangles. There is no obvious way you'd be defected for a Z32 AFM. Most coppers wouldn't know what an AFM is. ;)

The colours are different.... Z32 is 'pink' and Rb25 is 'green', if theyve defected ppl before, then they'll know what they are looking for. But it aint just the afm, its all the ecu add-ons etc Ive got that are pretty easy to spot, so if I ever need to go to Regency I might as well hoard my spares. Not all oinkers are dumbarses. :/

My Z32 has a Orange Sticker!

I think thats right - I was guessing.. pink/orange, just a matter of interpretation really (plus I'll just say I was clourblinded the last time I looked at it - must have been the wife mucking around again)

R33 S1 afm's (green sticker 4pin) are the same as the r32 rb20det afm.

R33 S1 afm's (pink sticker 3pin) obviously don't plug in. :)

Z32's as stated are orange, I'm waiting for bosch, they said they will have the numbers I require by may due to an problems they had with manufacturing that threw backorders through the roof.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
