Hey people.. I've posted the same topic here before, and some one mentioned COX's automotive.. has anyone else had good dealings with them, or any other shop?

Also does anyone know where the Bosch place is in M'dore? Or their name even? apparently they have an awesome Diagnostic machine.

Here's the story of the problems so far if anyone's interested-

hey man , i was thew one who told u to go see david cox, i just had my car done today with him, did a very goos job, full 100k service. anyway, u hsould do all the things to your car like put in new spark plugs, check all filters for blockages even replace them, coil packs like ppl have stated before, vacuum leaks, (a mechanic can do this if u dont know what ya doing) um oldf uel like u said, just write a list of things u think vcould be causing it and elimintae them 1 by 1. things u can do ya self, then after u have done all the things u can do and replace yourself, then maybe get a mechanic to check the stuff u cant. like air flow meter etc. even for a mechanic its a process of elimination, they can only guess aswell, so u mite aswell lower the number of things for them to check and save yourself sum $$ at the same time.

not alot of guys on the coast know coxy, but u would have seen him round, he drives the bright orange starion. if u see him out have a chat to him and tell him darren (85URK) told u to talk to him.

Hey dude cheers, yeah I think I'll try him.. You wouldn't have his number handy by chance? Yeah i'm lazy :P So he owns the orange starion?... always liked that car.

If you read through that thread you'll see I've checked most of the things you mentioned... Comp test is probably the only other thing I could do myself :

Blinkstar: Thanks for the suggestion but I would rather take it to some where that doesn't specialize in a make other than Nissan.. Unless you know they have a few Skylines go through there? Also ur Passage sounded sweet :D I used to own a white series 1 Passage.. wich I think is still on the coast.

subiworx also have a workshop called japworx, im not sure if it's still open but they do all types of cars, just the subiworx bit specialses in subaru. it really does suck here on the coast, it's few and far between when it comes to ppl who actually know anything about imports. his number is 54433507. address is the cnr of depot st and service maroochydore.

also if u wanna try george may (GMR) at kunda park, he's pretty knowledgable aswell.

O.k I've just got some new info wich suggests it is the AFM, or associated wiring... Don't know wether to buy a 2nd hand AFM or pay for a mobile sparky.. Hmm

If this venture fails will have it towed straight to David at Cox's

well if i were you before u do anything, see if you can find sum1 with a laurel, or RB20 AFM and try in on your car, then if there's works then it will be the problem ,saving u spending alot of money on sumthing that may not need replacing. thats what id do man. so see if any1 on here ora ournd the coast with a laurel can swap with u one weekend. im sure sum1 will help u out.

I can get genuine nissan parts pretty cheap. So I would have just re-sold it for what I payed. Luckily one of I my mates has a spare RB20DE AFM from his Ceffy wich I will try this weekend.. I'm hoping RB20DE and DET's run the same AFM..??? I'll go start a thread now actually..

I so hope this works... Cause I live out woop woop (Near Beerwah) I'll be up for a hefty towing fee to M'dore :P

    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
