I was driving home tonight and three time this happened, i was coming to either a red light or had to slow down and after pushing in the clutch and taking it out of gear the revs just dropped all the way down and stalled.....Turned the key, restarted the car and continued on.

Has anyone has this sort of problem before?

I'm thinking maybe the airflow sensor is dirty or something?

i get it sometimes.

used to get it really bad but changed my airflow meter and it was ok, but still a bit iffy sometimes.

its quite upsetting.

does it idle nicely ?

will it stall if u say rev to 4000 in 2nd then put the clutch in leave it in and come to a complete stop ?

some people reckon its a idle control problem, and some reckon its to do with the fuel pump slowing down for idle.

theres a guy on here who changed the ground for his fuel pump so it goes all out all the time and says that fixed it.

also theres the whole bov saga that causes it too.

its a very hard problem to get a straight answer for, believe me ive tried.

search?

read the sticky threads in this section?

Its either afm or BOV related... comes up weekly :P

cheers

the bov is more to do with if its plumb back or not.

some ppl have the problem either way, but for me if i dont plumb back my greddy type s the sucker stalls, and if i do its ok, but still kinda iffy like a said earlier.

pretty much if its plumb back should be ok, try using the stock one if u still have it see how u go.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
