A Misfiring Skyline

Recommended Posts

hey guys

well i got the usual symptoms car misfiring around 3 - 35 -4000 revs and after reading all the possible causes

i thought the easiest one to check would be the plugs

after taking em out i found them to be like this

you never seen someone so happy to find shitty plugs

do you reckon theyve been changed in the last 20000kms?

so whats a good replacement plug?

and im guessing 0.8 gap is the way to go?

some plugs are meant to be changed even later than that.

You should gap them to 0.8,clean them, throw them in and see what happens.

Btw my car has ngk irridiums and they dont miss a beat @ 13psi 185rwkw.They are 22000km old.All they have seen is a clean with a wire brush.

I think the irridiums are quoted to live as long as 90000km.

There are better plugs out there nowadays though.dont ask me what ones. That time will come when i need newwies.

I just use the coppers.

If you've got a fairly stocker car, the irid/platinum arent so bad... but if your playing around with mods and stuff you can foul them at times so coppers workout cheaper in the end... sometimes.

Depends on the car really. I fouled a fuel reg 5000km's into a new set of irid... @ $100 a set, i wasnt gonna waste that again, back to coppers.

I get almost a year out of them, sometimes less

If you look closely you can just make out the track marks along the insulator. I would recommend iraway 7's as they are pre gapped. The beauty of iridiums over coppers is that you can open the gaps up a little more.

Well just a follow up post

i havent changed the plugs since i bought the car a months ago and it seemed fast back then

anyway i changed the plugs today to ngk iridiums gapped to .8

feels like a weapon now hey

it just has power all the way through the revs

would definatly recommend changing plugs if ya car is lacking a bit of power or missin a bit
