Hi Dudes,

With the continuation of stripping my interior back, I am looking at removing the rear wiper mechanism. Car never came with a rear wiper & have no need for one. Problem is, there is obvisouly a hole cut in the windscreen to allow for it.

Question is -

Has anyone had their rear windscreen replaced for any reason?

Can u get one without the hole in it?

If so, where from? Windscreens O'Brian???

Cheers in advance guys!

Ando

Konect - I actually did call em but they were like WTF is a Cefiro. Tried explaining for ages but unfortunatley owning an import can cause some issues when talking to Aussie dealers. I also checked thru every 29 pages of the Cefiro section to see if the issue had be covered off previously...to no prevail....

So the lecture about calling before asking really aint required buddy! Don't jump to concluions that I have done nothing to find the info first. Even if I had just simply posted.... im sure some people would be more than happy to provide constructive feedback / assistance. If that frustrates you, well each to their own...no need to pipe up about it dude!

Just thought someone may of had better luck communicating with a company and able to point me in the right direction....u know HELPING out fellow Cefiro owners!

Resin - The hole that the motor goes thru to move the wiper across the windscreen. Obvisouly some Cefiro's came with the rear wiper option some didn't (I assume urs didn't Resin)

Reason why I can't have a rear wiper is

1. The actual thread for the wiper to connect to is rusted to the BS, so unable to be used

2. I dont want a F*#king rear wiper......

f**kme it seems you cant post a simple question here without getting flamed.... so much for being a forum for helping each other out!

Ouch. I was being constructive in a 'funny cuz its not me way'

Anywhoo is there more than one Windscreens O'Brien place around ?

You want contructive...I went through all my paper work and found the receipt for my windscreen.

Product: 231097

Decription: Nissan Cefiro A31 Sedan

Says on it the parts had to come from Padstow (head office)

Maybe you could give them the part number and they could link it to the car and then the back window.

Konect - Now thats the shinizle.... thanks buddy. I could of possibly  taken the comment the wrong way....I just cracked the shits searching thru all pages in this section making sure it had been covered off, with no luck, then called Windscreens to get some useless mofo MONKEY on the phone, so patience levels were at an all time low! So thought might post up & see what happens.... then the first post i asking me to search first then ask..... just a funny comment with the wrong timing.

So apologies buddy if your comment was made in jest.... :)

Thanks for looking it up dude, will give em a buzz tomoz!

I remember seeing something about this before. Just get a rather large gromit, and some sikaflex. $5 done deal. Might look a bit dodgy but hey, its a drift car, and I am sure you could spend the $200-1000 some glass mob is going to charge you on something much better.

Well I ended up calling Windscreens O'Brien's main 13 # instead of directly calling a local outlet. Guess what..they knew what I was on about! :( :sorcerer:

Now it turns out that they do not stock the rear windscreen. Had about 20 front windscreen in stock, but apparently they have to specially order one in from somewhere.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$ :O

So i was told to call my local outlet..... ha :P and get a quote!

So I will try a different local one and try my luck.

But guaranteed that it will cost heaps like Dave said.

Also im sure they are not going to be able to verify whether it is one for a rear wiper or not!!

I wait to stand corrected....maybe Konects assitance with the product # may help out. Any ideas of how much it cost u Konect?

I think i may end up doing like Dave said.....Gromet & sikaflex the biatch up.

Will report back once confirmed pricing etc....so people will know for future reference!

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
