First weekend in my R34 and I am already worried about coppers. Was at the light waiting to turn right when a cop came from the other direction. As soon as he saw me, he braked and drove really slow.... then u-turned to follow me....

Luckily there was a car already behind me and the light were turning yellow so i slowly and deliberately turned so that he would have to run the red light to catch me. For my sake he didn't but it has already soured my weekend.

Nothing illegal on the car, but i know they will pick on my Xenons as they are so white/blue and my extra dark rear windows, which by the way are not film tinted so it would be a hassle to change.

Anyways... lets see how things go as i heard this blitz is going to last for 6mths only.

cheers

Nice...What were you driving before?

yeah, i dunno, mine has "book me" written all over it, but as long as you drive reasonably, they will just drive on by. Mind you for some lucky reason cops tend to be travelling the opposite direction. I've been pulled over twice for bretho's in the last week and each time they've just made me blow and then let me go. Depends on the area. If you're in the northies, westies, or outer east you'll cop trouble and no wonder seeing as how some of the muzzas drive around. Where i am is fairly sweet :P

Creation: about time too!

So are you happy with the car? did it all checkout ok with GL?

Dont worry about the rear w/screen or back 3/4 windows, you can tint these whatever you like, its the front 2 that have to be 35% [legally]. I spoke to the owner of a tint business about this on the weekend.

Just take it easy and the cops shouldn't bother you, do you have *P* plates? that won't help atm.

I was doing a fotoshoot down the beach last week, and was accidently blocking off a disabled car park, Divisional [Police] Van turned up, both hopped out the car [i was 50 metres away at the time], i got a bit concerned as they started walking around the car, so i went over and chatted to them, they said $100 fine for this, i told them i just finished off a fotoshoot and said sorry, it was the best spot for it...they asked me to show em the camera [fair enough] so i did, then said to move my car...and then they hopped back in the van and moved on :P *sigh*.

BTW my rear windows are probably the same as yours fully dark from J/P...not film either...they didnt say anything about the tint or anything else...

When do people learn - just because one cop lets you off for something or doesn't do you for it doesn't mean its legal and you won't ever get done for it!

Every cop is different. Some are tollerant, some aren't and are going to do you for anything they know is not legal.

I'm sure that would get you outta trouble but I don't think that would work for me:P

Pretty happy with the car in terms of performance but afterall it's a second hand car so there are drawbacks.

predator, i have no idea what you are talking about ~

***you can tint the back windows [including side and windscreen] with what you like! Only legality is with the front end ~ FRONT SIDES = 35% VLT, FRONT = 0% VLT*** questionable!

I was merely telling creation that AFAIK [from a tint co. owner] his REAR tint is ok. No need to get all narky...

"when do people learn"? pft

EDITED! read the vic roads ruling further down>>>

I was just bitching in general.. I'm not saying you were saying that, but lots of people go "oh i didn't get caught for xxx must be legal" then they drive around thinking its legal and another cop busts them for it, thats all.

Here's the full Vicroads ADR sheet on window tints:

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/vrnint...04A171BCD2A5F8F

All windows of a motor vehicle, other than windscreens, available to the driver to obtain a view of the road or other road users must have a light transmittance of at least 35 per cent.
Windscreens fitted to motor vehicles manufactured before July 1971 must transmit at least 70% of visible light. All other motor vehicles must comply with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 8/00 which requires the windscreen to have a light transmittance of at least 75%. However, only windscreens tinted during the manufacturing process are acceptable.

hmmm, according to this, all windows must have greater than 35% light entry other than the windscreen.

hey thats cool, well funny thing about tint is that the owner of a tint franchise seems to think that the back end can be whatever you like, he said most people go the same as the front to match it though.

I need to take a whole day off work and get all these kinds of questions answered...from EPA>VicRoads>Police>and so on...

um..wait a sec.. bloody long ass URLs!! prolly so you deliberately can't link to it.

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
