Hi All,

Have White 200 RS4 Stag.. ( in case you couldn't guess ).

I've had it for around 1 year now and for about 8 months have had the engine warning light comming on intermittently. Initially it would only do it maybe once a month, thne once 1 fortnight, then once a week, now daily.. The car had a little shudder for about 2 seconds then the light comes on.

I'vr bben told that it is porbably the voil pack that needs replacing, but alos have been told that it could be something to do with the air flow sensor.. I'va had a diagnotic done twice on it with no result. ( Mech probably doesn't have car on his equipment ).

Any one had the same problem or have any firmer ideas as to what could be the solution to this. If not anyone know of a machanic that knows about Stageasin Perth northern Suburbs ?

Cheers

Where are you st? Find a gtr mech to do the diagnostics for you and see wheter he can pin point the problem. Thats your best bet i suppose

I had a similar problem with my Series II and it turned out to be faulty coil packs and related electrical circults causing the coil packs to blow.

Mine was repaired by the dealer, who also happens to compliance Stageas here in WA

Not sure if he does work for general public but PM me and I will try and find his details.

Its a bit of drive though given they are in Beckenham.

Cheers, Al

watch out for a certain workshop in perth with a 2wd dyno only but they attempt to run the stageas on it in 4wd for abit of smokin action :/

PM if u want the details of the shop cause i would reccomend leaving your car as far from that shop as possible if u want it sorted and no other problems caused.

ring Top Racing in Capel Crt i think it is in Bentley. awesome workshop and very helpful guys down there :) they have been doing stuff on my stagea and helping me heaps even though im doing all the installing of parts at home and they aint getting any money they still dont mind helping out with info. Steve will be tuning my power fc djetro very soon. he also has a 4wd dyno in the workshop (i think they got it now, or its a few days away if they dont).

cheers

Brad

    • But seriously, can we ask for the results of the "tip a bottle of metho into a nearly empty tank" experiment?
    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
    • Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
