Has anyone tried using the factory solenoid on a r33 in conjuction with a boost controller to make it an adjustable dual stage boost. My idea is simple, but I'm not sure how the solenoid actually works. Does it just bleed off 2psi boost, or will in not work at higher boost?

My idea is this- I currently have a turbotech boost controller, and i was thinking that if i have this set at about 8psi and hook the factory solenoid back up either before or after it, probably after it, and have its power wire connected to a switch so i could change between 8 and 10psi.

Would this work? The question is, does the solenoid bleed off 2psi boost or is it set to 7psi?

From my understanding the factory solenoid has a built in restrictor which is opened at 4500RPM via the ECU, so it doesnt bleed the air. This idea has been attemtped before with the turbotech with many problems of spiking. Just install it without the factory solenoid and use your right foot as the boost control... :O
