"Dear Sir.

RE Community Traffic Watch Report

I am writting to you as the registered owner of a **** Nissan Sedan

A Member of the public has reported this vehicle to police under the "Traffic Watch" Scheme, because they percieved the driver of the abov vehicle breached the Australian Road Rules in that:

At about 3pm on the 3/4/2006 Cross RD Unley Park, the driver of your vehicle was seen Excessive noise emitting from exhaust.

I am sure you will appreciate thheir concerns and request that you, if you were not the driver of the vehicle at the above mentioned time, take up this matter with the driver of the vehicle, in an effort to modify such behavior in the future.

Any further reports involving your vehicle may result in a visit from police and the possibility of the driver being reported for an offense against the Australian Road Rules.

Please enjoy safe driving.

Your faithfully...."

Has anyone else got one of these before?? What a load of crap! I dont drive my car hard at all, in fact if anything i drive it a bit too soft. The car is reasonably loud but nothing to obnocious.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Who was it from? The police?

Never had one and don't wish to either.

Its a load of crap public can simply dob some one in, it wouldn't suprise me if it was one of those bogans that simply hate imports.

yea lets dob this prick in for not doing anything because he drives an import, get his car impounded.

Drop another good quality muffler in after the cat, quieten it down considerably to prevent furthur problems without killing power.

Should cost around $200-$250 depending on the muffler (s/steel etc)

If you know you were simply cruising give them a buzz and dispute the matter, while your there find out a little info on this community traffic watch program.

Find out who can report such an incident, if they require training or if it can be any member of the public.

I believe in the US only trained volunteers from the public can report such incidents.

A good example of how this can get out of hand is only the other day I had a dero bogan in his VP Commodore mouthing 'Piece of shit jap crap' to me at the traffic lights.. Then off he went with that v6 auto roar, I'm sure you all know the horrid sound from one of those with an exhaust.

All it requires is for him and or a mate to think 'hey lets dob this prick in for hooning or whatever' and the next thing I know I'm receiving a notice or have the police at the door.

Yeah from SAPOL....got it in the mail today...

Funny bout it taking 2 months to get to me since the report was placed. I kno i wouldnt have been "hooning". More than likely i would have been driving along normally, and overtaken someone and held it in second or 3rd till 60. Some pompus bastard has gone..."aww yeah yet another hoon" and decided to say something about it.

Its not really that loud. But i completely agree with you. Whats to stop me doing it to someone i dont like? Ill give them a call sometime this week and see what i can find out about this mess.

As for the muffler... lol i have none besides the cannon atm. Only pulls just over 90DB... ive already been thinking of doing that for a while... Might just have to get round to it whilst replacing the cannon at the same time.

Cheers

Ahh well what to do.. Drive sensibly around traffic, keep the exhaust quiet, be courteous/patient to other drivers/pedestrians.

I know I always allow people to cross in front and wave them on, if we all do this and drive sensibly then the image of import owners will change.

The problem with this is it won't happen, these cars are cheap and available to first car owners on their P's.

And we all know how young people drive, well thinking back to when I was that age, I was an idiot, always overtaking, always had to be infront. :

I grew up down south where there was a road called the big dipper.

One day I was cruising up that way delivering KFC and what do I see... A cop car flying down and up the dipper with grins from ear to ear as they hammered it past me in the opposite direction. >_<

If you get a letter in the mail....... FLATOUT deny you were there at that time, and if they CANNOT prove that you were there, then ASK for an apology, and or that you will be persuing this further........... Do what you want from there!

Maybe we need to be dobbing in cops for doing things also.......... "yeh there was this cop in his cop car absolutly speeding past me this afternoon, WITHOUT his/her lights flashing, and the car number is XXX!" Dunno might work, also might just piss of the dogs more!

Yeah i too received one of these scare letters today!

It basically gives the public the right to determine if you have committed an offence or not and then report it!

Innocent until proven guilty! What an abuse of power!

I remember the incident well, where this 'senior citizen' almost collided with me when he ran through a give way sign! He starts beeping and waving his arms in the air, he pulls over and waves me over. Winds his window down, his blood was boiling, he said you are supposed to give way to me! I was like didn't you see the Give Way sign? He kept on going on and on and on that i had to give way! This guy should not be driving on the road and i told him so! He abviously could not hack been in the wrong and this is the result!

Apparently I was driving without due care! In the letter they gave the time, date and address of the alleged incident, 1 week before my birthday, so I know 100% it was him! Damn senior citizens!!!

Im sure this sought of info goes straight into a database and gets bought up if or when you actually do something wrong! Or when you get pulled up they can check how many complaints there have been....etc

Watch out import owners! We are getting ass-raped!

Well yer as I said.. In the US you have to do a small course in order to report incidents as such.

I believe it too was called neighbourhood traffic Watch.

You think mayb they have done it all in one foul swoop today sending them out?! Seeing as mine was done so long ago i cant see why they wud wait so long to notify me. My car has been on defect before so this certainly doesnt help the cars record. What did u get done for HR 32??

my company reports staff driving in a way to upset any customers. Someone was leaving work the other day in a rotory 929 and the "boss" heard him leave from work and got his plate number the next day.

the problem is that the majority of idiots out on the roads are in descret cars like comodores, ect and people only take notice when a import/sports car is involved

Anyone tried calling any other authorities to find out what the deal is? If they are just other drivers then this shouldnt happen just because of the cars we are driving. If someone like what happened to HR-32 can just report you even when they are running give way signs then whats next.

Anytime something happens like that get their plate and where it happened and report it straight away so if they try it then its against them already. If they want to bring these stupid laws in where a toddler can report us for driving over his lollipop then we can do it striaght back. Everytime i see these 'hoon' tapes on the news or current affairs programs they are over 60% commonwhores and yet they pick on imports the most, get the bogans off the road and things will sort themselves out. Also get seniors to go for driving tests every year after 60 and eyes checked to make sure an 8 sided red sign registers as stop.

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
