I see the lack of any truely "new" stagea related topics recently.

There was once a time that I read/reply every topic, but these days, i reply in maybe 30% of them.

Bring back the glory of the suspension/brakes/SITC/transmission/attessa threads :D

Yes... I am just killing time

Yes... I am just killing time

Measure and weigh the exhaust system (HINT)

:D cheers :P

PS; I will have a thread soon on how to fit DAYZ side skirts

HAHAHHA

Ska/SK, SK particularly, you are both funny bastards.

SK. Sorry mate, we are building an office in our factory at the moment, its been hectic as a whore house on friday night down there. Carpenters buildings, plumbers/aircon people/tilers/plasterers/painters/customers in/out ALL day.

At one point, I had two customers, 2 painters, a plasterer and a plumber all there at the same time. Along with the 3 guys building the wooden frame.

I didnt think you were making "those" types of movies anymore............. all those people, that would need a LOT of KY!

I too am in the "building" industry............................

something 2 talk about?

projects for me then, coming up:

fit auto oil cooler (still sitting in the shed)

fit auto valve body actuator

fit front caster bushes (still in the shed)

have inside of rear right rim re-rolled (not 100% round when I bought it)

get 4 wheel alignment

fit front slotted rotors

fit front and rear braided brake lines

new brake oil

fit new brake pads

extend drivers seat rails and take out footstop for left leg

1hr dynotune safc & sitc, probably pull 165awkw

take out and sell Clarion tapedeck headunit and clarion 6-stack cd player (the infamous one that caused me grief with the abs/4wd systmen not working), and replace with DVD mp3 player.

plan (another word for dream!) for turbo, spa, and custom recliner chair (sitting 1m off ground to suit me, lol) - waiting for bike to be snapped up (the BARGAIN of the year)

will take a while, a long list...... getting there

:D Brendan

if you like, i can take some photos to help you out with your DIY DAYZ side skirts Thread.

I was reading a thread in Skylines about all the hassles with RBT sites giving the FSkies the once over and the defects that were given.

Are WE still safe out there or are there some who have been defected?

We could always have poll on who is the worst typist and/or the worst spellar.

ive never been defected

ive never been pulled over

i regularly (weekly and/or several time a week) attend certain events which attract attention. never even had a double glance. Biggest comment I got was "wow, thats a big pipe you have out the back"

....then they saw my tail lights....

Or who double posts's?

And another thing , where are the air deflectors? And is BJ a cousin of FM?

I had the same thought yesterday Alex

It has been a bit slow

I will have something to talk about in about 2-2 weeks once my car gets complied

New R34 front and gearbox, along with the other goodies

hey darrin im waiting for the tutorial on putting a r34 gtr front on the mighty stagea :)

whats the cost worked out all up for you? and do u still plan on making a mould of the masa gaurds or are you not bothering?

im planning the 34 front one day thats for sure :whistling: and a respray in black maybe, inspired by the SWAT car club stageas i seen on those SWAT websites, they are absolutely awesome

ill do abit of info about putting brembos on a stagea in the very very near future as i got mine all ready to go i just need some custom braided brake lines made up :)

who was chucked their stageas on a wieght bridge????? mine weighed in at 1690kg without a driver and half a tank of full, and a few bits and peices in the car, so around 1650 with low fuel and clean interior i reckon. thats with the 26 and single turbo setup as it is at the moment.

ill post a dyno video maybe as tune is booked for late next week and i just wont show the power figures for the other knobs that i dont want to see it.

ill be doing heaps more bits and peices soon when the engine side of things is done, so ill post info on stuff as i do it.

joy times ahead :D

Talking about braided brake lines. I went into PIRTEK, who are a major sponsor of motor sport, only to be told that they are not certified to do brake hoses. I thought that very odd. This is inBrisvegas.

Anyone out there know where to get braided lines here, not only for Stageas, but also S13 and 180s?

PS Hope I havn't double posted this.lol

i got my rears made up by a local shop called HOSEMART for about $100 i think and they are ADR approved (unlike jap brands and the like) which makes them 100% legal for street use.

i went to get my fronts done there but they couldnt use the same mounting blocks that the factory lines use for some reason and i didnt like that idea as i'd have no mounting points and i suspect that would be illegal if i had to ziptie them to the strut :whistling:

im going to try enzed and get a guy to come out to my house to fit up a set for the front brembos in the next week or so i hope depending if i can get some time off work.

i reckon the brembos braking distance will give me a shock compared to the stock calipers/rotors

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.
    • The roof is wrapped
    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
