only ONE shop in Australia can tune it tho.

thats OK if you are a sydney-sider resident....................

best to PM Satanic on the subject, but Id have thought you'd need up to 3grand to buy, install and tune.

Information on the HKS F-CON V Pro online is limited to what is pretty much written on the box; HKS are quite secretive with this department (not sure why)

$3k would be for the ECU; Loom; Installation and Tune... you will need to pay more if you want to run a MAP sensor etc.

I personally cannot offer you heaps of technical information regarding what it does down to the finite point; but I can tell you that it does work with the tiptronic automatic; and yes it will work with the Attesa.

Look on overseas car forums; there will be a stack of information on it - UK, JP and USA. If you're still unsure; contact Tom @ BD4s.

I've also been told that CRD now do tuning for this; not 100% sure on it though.

Pretty shaw Matty from P.I.T.S on the Gold coast can tune them

He is one of the best tuners up here

Check out the Qld section for a full write up on him

Tommy, you are on the Gold coast aren't you?

Talk to Matty

Well I didn't pay $3,000 - that's just what brand new pricing would be;

I ended up paying about $2k with all the bells and whistles; installed and tuned. Funny thing was BD4s replaced my ECU with a brand new upgraded version along with half the harnesses I supplied

Anyways, each to their own - this topic usually gets very heated so yeah~

And FYI people who "think" they can tune the HKS F-CON stuff should seriously think very hard before saying so... only authorized HKS Power Writer Dealers are supposed to be able to tune them; you need special software and hardware.

On the HKS USA site it actually states people will be sued if illegitimate claims of tuning capabilities are made  (dunno how true this is).

Probably adds to the reason why there is almost nothing on the internet which tells you exactly what the F-CON does.

Makes the set up in my Stagea sound cheap;

DFA $70

Controller $50

IEBC $70

SITC $250

Tune $160

Total $600

Add on the total number of hours used building those JayCar kits multiply by $60.00 per hour (we'll go extremely cheap labour rates here) and you probably end up with the same price.

Furthermore; sure there are those who are genii with electronics and can do everything - I for one am not; and would not take the risk of trusting a kit which controls everything in my car which I made myself (low self esteem

Also; the last time I looked for a S-ITC; I couldn't find one for sale within Australia. People overseas wanted something like $300USD.

damn this gets confusing!!

i was gonna run an safc but as it still hasnt turned up almost a month later (damn ebay!!) was looking at the e manage, so much for and against all this stuff  .. is anyone running one or previously run one in there Stagea and how was it??? or can anyone recommend something that is good, easy to tune and of similar price

a SAFCII and a SITC, plus a bleed controller of some sort (ebc, or $35 unit, etc), bosch 040 fuel pump and nismo fuel pressure regultor, more efficient fmic, high flow air filter and full 3inch exhaust system, a z32 or Q45 afm, and of course a highflowed turbocharger, IS enough to go past 200awkw - why complicate things?

SAFCII is under $400 new on ebay (and if you dont receive it make a claim for you money back!), whilst a SITC can be found once a month on ebay for roughly $220USD plus delivery (I got mine new for that price, 99% are 2ndhand for the price tho). Thats under $720 AUS delivered with instructions. Fitted and tuned for under $1300 for sure.

Other parts would be $4k give or take. For the price of a manual conversion, youve got a very nice auto RS4 with over 200awkw.

Add 2.5k for suspension, 2.5k for mags and tyres, and you're just over the 10k mark for mods with a nicely sorted package.

Easy.

Or you could spend $5k and put a manual box in and a power-fc

or you could buy a "260rs" or a "25t rs four s" (or a stagea thats already converted to manual AKA Ska and GoldZilla) in the first place and then put a power fc in it

how about a full stand alone ecu like autronics or power fc and use a control box from mv automatics or whoever it was i remember reading in zoom about manual shifting the auto with buttons on the wheel instead of it shifting automatically. its a little black box that does something to make it non electric and full manual controllable. this means the ecu controls nothing in the gearbox as its now a manualised auto.

dunno if people like that idea but id rather shift an auto manually than having a plain auto but thats just me

sound reasonable or is the box still gonna shit itself?

end of useless info

Bloody hell that is cheap, well done!

I reckon whack that on and then go for SITC and a boost controller, (I am guess you already have a boost controller, since you have that big arse turbo:)).

I dont know, those should be good for ~200kw....? I know my 33 just had a SAFC, cooler, exhaust and a bleed valve and i got 180rwkw.

But then again, you already have some big mods there, I guess the question is do you need an aftermarket ECU or will piggybacks do for what kind of power you are aiming for?

hahaha ... cant wait to get it all hooked up an dynoed :) , ive seen this guy advertise a few of em for that price so if anyone is interested PM me and i will send his ebay id to you so u can contact him

oh n the other mods are :

Hi-flo turbo

Greddy FMIC

Greddy oil catch can

Turbosmart e boost 2 boost controller

now the SAFCII :D

Split dump n front of the group buy

Hi flo cat off the group buy

3" muffler n piping for the rest of the zorst

Apexi panel filter

still chasing :

FPR

adjustable wastegate actuator

SITC

soon as the others arrive it will all be fitted and dynoed so hopefully 200AWK will be pretty close :)

Edited by STAGE-A

Just out of interest ive just emailed the guy to see if he would be interested in a group buy, do a discount for SAU members or suppy me so i can pass em on for everyone... so fingers crossed, ill let you all know if it goes ahead

Cheers

Lee :D

    • I'm seeing torque specs all over the place for the OUTER tie rod, but none for the INNER tie rod, where it connects to the steering rack. Even in videos, people are just tightening em up as much as they can with a wrench and that's it. Anything tightened down without torque makes me nervous. Anyone know what the spec is for it?
    • Hope you had a great time here in our tiny country.   The JDM scene we have here is quite small, it's mostly BMW, Volkswagen with burble tunes haha. But the few JDM cars we do have in the scene are pretty nice. Some of my friends drive cool s14's too. Both built engines, red one makes abt 500, blue one abt 400 i think?
    • Ye good idea , would have never thought of something like that. Might aswell do it to every pulley and the balancer while I’m there
    • Use an LS1 or similar, via kit like Frenchy's. But.... It's probably not the alternator. It sounds like belt squeal, which would be because the pulleys are glazed. Rub every groove on the pulleys with 120 grit paper. Report back. Oh, and new belts afterwards too. The old new ones will be shitted up already.
    • Hello all I have 2 r34 sedans , one turbo one na, only recently aquired the na 34.  Man what is with these things.... My turbo 34 started sounding like a super charger, it was screaming at anything above 4000rpm , I took the alternator apart and replaced the front bearing which is the only one I think you can access and it did not fix the issue so presumably the bearing in the rear of the alternator is gone. ( diagnosed it was the alternator by taking off the aux belts one by one to figure out which pulley or bearing it was )  My friend gave me one he had lying around, Installed it , it did not squeal for maybe 500kms and now its started to squeal again briefly on startup  Recently got an na r34 and I replaced the timing belt, water pump + all the auxillirary belts. Runs amazing but it suddenly developed the same squeaking problem but significantly worse, Ive had my neighbour come down screaming at me because it was waking her up everytime I moved the car. It takes a good 2 minutes before it quietens down.  Im yet to diagnose where its coming from but im fairly sure its coming from the alternator aswell. My question isnt about how to fix it but rather where can you get a new alternator for an rb25 neo??? Ive searched everywhere but I havent been able to find a direct fit oem type replacement thats not genuine. All the automotive stores sell an oex one - BXA035 - which I picked up for cheap through a friend with staff discount , got it home only to find the connector is completelty different.... As far as im aware bxa035 is for rb20/30's and after a bit of figuring out the bxa035 has an ev14 type connector, which is tiny compared to the rb25 connector. I actually had an ev14 connector lying around which I was considering just replacing the bigger plug with to get the alternator working but the bxa035 is rated for 70amp vs the rb25 alternators are 90amp ( or so ive been told ? ) That paired along with the fact im about to install an amp + sub in the back and I have the stock sized small battery Im not sure itll do the job unless anyone has another opinion?  I know and have seen all the websites selling the ls1 alternator conversion kit but I am not going down that route, nor do I have the money to. Hopefully I can figure out how to get 2 brand new alternators for both cars. I would buy second hand which there seems to be many of but considering how common this seems to be im sure If I installed a second hand one it would start squealing in no time  Or even better if anyone knows how to fix the issue directly with the alternator itself... Any input appreciated Thank you     Link for bxa035 connector picture
