Ok guys I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone may be able to help me out with. Firstly I currently have a PFC, EBC, and Z32 AFM waiting to be fitted to my R33. Only other mods are 3in turbo back exhaust and a FMIC. I have plans to upgrade to GT-RS turbo early next year (also injectors etc.). My question is would it be worthwile fitting the Z32 AFM at the same time as I get The PFC and EBC fitted/tuned (now), or would I be better of waiting and getting it done at the same time as the turbo upgrade (next year)? Basically what I really want to know is will the Z32 AFM give me any sort of additional power gain when installed with my current mods?

I was also wondering is it alright just to use the PFC hand controller as a boost gauge? As I currrently only have the stocke boost gauge. Or is there an advantage in installing a conventional boost guage? Like as a back up or whatever.

Sorry guys im a bit of a novice when it comes to this stuff, thanks in advance!

z32 afm wont give any power increase....but it gives the ecu more scope for airflow with using bigger turbos and more boost and more fuel. It will only be useful when you go for the larger turbo, but regardless with the powerfc it wont hurt to put it on now...its one less thing to do later on.

Boost gauge doesnt matter...i know heaps of people who just use the commander to monitor all the engine stats including boost. There is no special thing to do, just do whatever your comfortable with and suits your taste.

PFC would only show boost if you get the otpional Map sensor for it ..

Z32 i would install now as you cant just plug them in and select Z32 and the tune be same as before... you will need to shift the load map to match the Z32 .. which is usually back to the tuners.. so save any mucking around and going back to the tuner and get it installed originally..

Personally i would say it doesnt matter when you do it.

Now or later wont really matter.

You are gonna have to get a full re-tune with Turbo/Injectors anyway.

I would do the Z32 then, rather than now as you stand nothing to gain by going it now.

Just personal preference, and its been a while since i disagreed with Chris :)

nah that makes sense t oo Ash :) hehe i just am going through the hassles of having to swap mine over for new inlet piping etc with the change to a Q45 AFM and now need a retune...

so i learnt that i should have got it all out of the way in the first tune :)

so realistically, i would wait til i had the turbo and injectors and save that $300 tune .. thats 1/3 of your injectors that you wont get back :)

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
