Hey,

I have this clicking sound coming from (sounds like it) from the dashboard it only happends for about 5-10 seconds once the car is turned on or on reds.

I've been told it is one of the relays, if so how would I go about fixing it?

mate there was a thread bout this 3 months ago, but anyway it's air con/fan speed related, the part in question is the blend door actuator, it's a dash out job, part cost me 90 odd bucks and did it myself when i pulled the dash out 4 painting or quoted 600 odd by auto elecy 4 the job cheers

Fark!! Looks like a nightmare with everthing off. Not as helpful as i would of liked. I know how to undo most parts, as i installed my system n shit. Where exactly is this 'blend door acutator', and what does it look like? Cheers.....

Nightmare to say the least, what Mr33 said, where exactly would it be? When I took it to my local performance shop they said "ahh, don't worry its only a relay" ..Mmm this makes me confused.

A relay?

It should be a like a little white circle teeth grooved clock lookin thingy hahahh.

I think that round thing gets stuck as it turns..

I think security (member on here) with the yellow r33 did it a while back. Hopefully he replies in this thread.

Otherwise just leave it. Nothing will happen. But does get annoying after a while eh??

Yeah def annoying, but is it actually NOT doing something while it's 'broken'?? $90 seems bloody expensive, where can ya get this part?? Ya sure that's what its called, i don't wanna sound like a dick at the shops! lol

i got the part second hand from the wreckers, the one down gold coast way, rolin imports i think

thats the tecknical name for it used by auto elecys, the wrecker really had no idea what i was talking bout so i went through thier shit and found it

New the part from nissan is about $150, i replaced mine with a new one, didn't want ti happening again. yes dash out job, its the black box about the size of a pack of cards on top of the heater box as seen in this photo:

http://gtr.ferni.net/misc/dash_removal/sli...ter_unit02.html

It's actually not that bad of a job, you don't need to take the heater box out, just the dash out of hte way, getting the heaterbox out was a bitch when i had to do my heatercore.....

Goodluck.

teamplasma, did you grab the whole black box or just the thing inside?

ferni, hey cheers for that! That's the pic i was after. Yeah like siddr20 said, do ya replace the whole box or what's inside? Thanks guys...... :D

yer the black box thats bout the size of a pack of cards, just replace the whole unit, it'e easier

it;s actually called the blend door actuator and it is a bit of a bugga of a job but i replaced mine when i was doing the heater core i paid 40 bucks for one of a member who was wrecking a r33

    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
