well i walked out the front today to discover some bird poo on my car, i wiped it off with a damp rag, but no matter how i wiped and scrubbed i couldnt seem to get it off. i think the poo actually burnt through my clear coat. im fuming because i only got the car sprayed 2 weeks ago :spank:

anyone got suggestions on how to go about fixing this??

Due to it being fresh paint bird crap will mark it pretty easily in only a short time due to the acids in it( bat crap is a whole lot worse ). Paint actually takes 30 days for all the solvents to evaporate.

A few things to keep in mind are

1. Dont polish your new paint job within the first month.

2. No stickers, badges or moulds for the first month.

3. Wash any bird or bat crap off asap

4. After a month has passed polish it every 3-6 months.

Just like anything else on your car the paint work has to be kept maintained too. My car and a mates car that i painted a number of years ago still look as good as the day they were painted.

If the crap has marked the paint usually a light sand with 1500-2000 wet and dry followed by a quick buff will fix the problem.

    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
