Hey guys. I went to Morapowa today and got my car dynoed. I managed 161.6 kws atw which im very happy about. Mods are a full exhaust and very dirty airfilter. My AFRS are really good and i was running only 8psi when i made max power.

All in all im very happy, and the dyno i ran the car on was recalibrated last week by DD, so its pretty close to 100% accuracy.

Thanks goes out to The guys at Morapowa, namely Martin Donnan.

Hi EnricoPalazzo, did Martin give you any clues as to the reason for the dip in the power at 160 to 165 kph? Having seen a number of similar charts thus is a common issue. As usual, it doesn't show up as an air fuel ratio problem. It has intrigued me for quite a while now and I was wondering whether Martin had encountered it as well.

Thanks for the post.

Nah he never told me about that dip, althou it seems common on all skylines. Im pretty happy with the result, as it is only a benchmark for me, and it will in the end give me a good comparison of what power i have made with the future mods that i am gonna do. Lets hope i can crack 200 rwks even thou some people think its not possible.

1995 S1

70,500km

Stock ECU

Stock Turbo

FMIC

HKS Pod Filter

2 Stage boost controller

Full 3" Exhaust with 3" Cat

7psi = 186rwkw

12psi = 203rwkw (leaning out at the top)

I was quite suprised by these results because similar model cars with similar mods (some even with PoweFC's) were still doing around the 170-190 power mark on that day.

From here I plan on installing a Malpassi Fuel Regulator (have it already just a matter of fitting/tuning it) and then an Exhaust Cam Gear.

Im hoping this will get me up to around 210rwkw figure.

From their its onto a PowerFC and thats about it for power mods, the rest will be seats, bodykit, wheels and im done (so I hope).

After reading Rev210's posts, i think i will get a lightened flywheel before an I/C. I think ill hit 170-180 with boost set to 11-12psi and with thermal wrapped intake pipe and front pipe. CAI and partition, cleaned airfilter, service, "Hi-flow" cat, removed rear mesh from maf, and more timing during dynoing.

My AFRs are really good for a stock ecu. At 11.5 at max power 162kws and only 8 psi, i feel im gonna make a bit of power.

And to repeat, the Morpowa Dyno was only calibrated a week ago, so the result is very accurate.

Does anyone know much about water injection or water spray kits?

Matt - hate to tell you mate, but even with my car's power it still feels slow... :uh-huh:

It only ever feels fast for a week or two... Then you feel like you've lost power... But if you run it on a dyno - same power! :burnout:

BTW - Why's everyone running in shootout mode these days?

Is it true that you actaully get a better power output ( Figure ) in shootout mode?

I managed to get 125rwkw in my r32 with the same sorta basic mods and 20 deg advanced timing on 10psi. I was under the impression that the r33's and 32's have a 20 odd kw difference in stock form?

btw. Nice work enrico ;)

I have been told that Shootout mode gives higher readings thats why i asked him not to do it in that mode, but the guy told me that Shootout mode is accurate and takes into account different variables (air temp, humidity etc etc) which the normal mode does not.

So from what i gather, No it doesnt giver higher readings, but im sure it will be argued that it does.

From all the dyno readings I've seen, it gives an extra 10%.

One car made 226rwkw at a dyno in shootout mode, and then the same day, made 206rwkw at Frankston tafe in the normal mode...

A Supercharged V8 Clubby which made 312rwkw in shootout mode in adelaide made 280rwkw on this dyno.

Normal mode does take air temps into consideration, and compensates, that's why you don't stick the temp sensor inside the engine bay...

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
