thanks for the links...but 2 of those are 17's, im after 18's, and the 18's in the last link are in Bris and not really my kind of style rim.

was Aaaron (rampant.net.au) quick in responding to your enquiry? I've yet to hear back... is that normal? i'm not too concerned, because i know some of these car places are uber busy... but i'm thinking i might not have put down the correct email address? and i think i read that they would try to respond within 24 hours?

Just incase you sent your enquiry to the wrong address its:

[email protected]

In my experience, he usually responds very quickly. I for one have delt with him many times and he ALWAYS comes through with the goods. Both in the time he said it would take, and at the price he said it would cost. Cant beat that!

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him to anyone, and I know i will be using him in the future.

when I first sent him an email, he replied within half an hour (it was around this time I emailed him (btw 8-9pm). Since then sometimes he has taken a little while to get back to me. He's been of great help with many questions I was asking about rims for my ride, such great help that I've now bought rims off him.

Highly recomend going through Aaron to get whatever your after, as many people have said...he can pretty much get whatever your after. I know he'll be my first stop as soon as Im after anything else.

cheers

i've actually dealt with aaron before in a very round-a-bout way... but never used the website enquiry form before... i might have put in wrong email address... i'll check my mail when i get home.

are you going to let the cat out of the bag abscent? or are we waiting for pics? >_<

  • 2 weeks later...

yeah, i'll be keeping my black BBS 17's for some r-compound rubber eventually...just cant afford the rubber right now. Was considering some 16's for track work cause the rubber would be cheaper, but i dont think it'll be that much cheaper?

What sorta Rays you looking at? So many types/colours would suit your colour car....

I got a call Wednesday from Aaron saying my rims were in, but he wasnt happy with the gutter rash on them, so he's getting them repaired for me (no extra cost), what a champ! I'll be sure to post up some pics as soon as there on my car.

I want TE37s i guess...he will look for some and see what colors i can get 2nd hand. Then we will suss our some r-comps. Hopefully get this done before the WRX PI track day.

you dealing with him too KJ? i'm being snubbed :) someone mention me in passing please (dude who had dealt with gareth from j-spec)

yeah he is great...we sent like 10 emails last night to each other...must be wrong email or somethoing mate.

i got a reply just yesterday, but he's totally swamped with a new container that's arrived.

i've actually dealt with him once before, great guy to work with.

i wasn't fussed, just wondering if he might have been on holiday or something.

it's not like containers are little things :P

    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head. • Ha ha ha, so they stopped the bearings spinning on the one you want, but then decided the crank hub should slip instead 😛   Stick to RB, at least you can work on it yourself. And now it doesn't smell of vapour   Also I still believe there's a chance your new flap doesn't "pop", as even though the engine might breath hard, it has a direct path with no restriction to the inlet, which when on boost should pull a bit of suction for you. If you do get pressure in the catch can id be very intrigued. Time to put a boost gauge on it, and a session at the track, then solid cover your vent and do another session
    • Oh nah, S55 doesn't eat bearings, just the crank hub slips lol.
    • When’s the tow ball on the 33 coming? 🙃
    • I welcome any basic question that can help haha. Yes it has 2 unis but the driveshaft is a one piece and the unis are welded without a slip yoke at each end.   What's funny is anytime I've ever had wheel vibrations it's always been in the front so I automatically assume it will lead to steering wheel shake and not chassis vibration. With that being said, I never considered looking at my rear wheel balance... I have doubts though as this wasn't an issue before I pulled the motor and trans but is still very much worth a look. I'll do that tonight after work. Thanks.
