Jay95R33
Stocker - you don't have to be at your car for them to give you a defect. Sure it would be harder for them cause they can't open the bonnet and can only go on from what they see from the outside. In Canberra, since they got rid of the compolsorary rego checks each year, the RTA go around to shopping mall car parks and check car by car. They either leave a note to say your car has been checked and is OK, or leave a note saying "off to the pits for a full inspection!!" NismoGirl
They only looked under the bonnet.. As I said I left the car running and turned the turbo timer off and hid it incase they asked me to turn it off and on again. I thought of that much... OH well.. it didnt' cost anything and I've just got to report to them now with my "turbo whistle" and see what happens.. Straight back onto my car it goes :burnout: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/page/2/#findComment-30482 Share on other sites
Guest MRE
If it was me I would return it to the original condition. Show the RTA Get cleared.. Then fight the fine/points in court. I would want to see a copper explain a "Turbo Whistle" and how it warrants a defect. And where in the law it describes a "Turbo Whistle". Is that what it say's on your Defect. I would then make a claim of harassment. And ask to have all costs (inc time to go to the RTA) paid. Let us know the day and we could all sit in the back of the court and whistle Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/page/2/#findComment-30550 Share on other sites
Guest MRE
Oh and if anyone is pulled over in the Logan Area. Just ask the offending copper how Dave Will's is. In passing,he is head of logan Intel I happen to have worked on his home computer. Very nice guy for a copper, no offense. The few times I have made mention of his name the tone of the copper changed Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/page/2/#findComment-30551 Share on other sites

JiMb0
This may sound like a bit childish, but I'd get a regular whistle (you know the ones you blow into) and write on it "Turbo Whistle™" ..... take off your aftermarket BOV, reverting back to the stocker ... when you go over the pits, tell the guy your kid left his whistle in your engine bay, but you don't see how that's a defectable item. Hand him the whistle and see what he says Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/page/2/#findComment-30781 Share on other sites

Zer0
Should go to RTA and say you have no idea what to fix as you took it to a mechanic as well as checking with the place you bought the car from and none of them know what a "remote turbo whistle" is. NismoGirl
Well that was the original plan. I walk to the car so maybe I won't get done over. It would be nice if they actually had traffic inspectors that knew waht they were looking at and talking about. Guest 570CK
I think you have to go to your local cop shop. Not the transport department. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/page/2/#findComment-35136 Share on other sites
