Our second child is arriving soon and the 2 door car may prove unsuitable for baby carrying duties. As such I am thinking of selling the Skyline if I can get the right price for it.

Fantastic condition

only mods are:

Kenwood CD, Alpine 6 inch Splits and Polk rears, Fusion Amp

New power steering box and full Pedders suspension worth over $2000.00

Never given me any problems. Not the fastest Skyline in Oz but certainly the rarest.

Nice car m8,shame u gotta sell it,shame i aint got the dough for it,apparently u can export back to japan for $20k aus,i was thinkin bout tryin that out with mine,i seen them funny ads for paul newman.where did u get the car private or u import it ur self?

The thing is I am not going to sell unless I get a good price for it. I love the car and it is great for what I use it for (work trips, daily commute). The only reason I would sell it so we have a bit more flexibility if/when we carry the little ones around. I guess we can only use our X Trail for family stuff and then keep the Skyline just for my use.

I have heard the Japanese are mad for old r30 and R31's but the hassle in exporting is probably not worth it. I bought the car from Domenic at Autostyle last year. He usually only sells high end r32 and r33 GTR's but he saw it at an auction in Japan and thought it was too good a car to pass up. I agree with him. The Paul Newman version was an edition to celebrate the connection between Nissan Motorsport and Paul Newman as Nissan race team owner in the early 80's.

The car has been 100% reliable and I have only replaced the suspension and steering as it was a little tired and I wanted it perfect. It is now ready for another 130000 k's!

Maybe I even talked myself back into keeping it now

My HR30 was one of 15 imported by thomas scuderia(current ferrari race team owner)for group-c racing back in early 80's fortunately mine never seen any track work,it has fj20 in it 5 spd r200 lsd, i hit 2 roo's in it in one night and second gear synchro is rooted(no second gear snaps over 4krpm :D ),ive had offers of 5k for it (no hope),i seen one in vic trader a few months ago for 18k full stockie no special features, so maybe to a collector your car worth plenty more,i hope u talk yourself into keeping it,they are a great car fun to drive and real rare i get snappen necks from all late model skyline owners :)

Yeah the amount of double takes I get from people is amazing.

They see the R30 front, then see it is a coupe and it gets their curiosity going. By the time they see the hotplate lights and the Paul Newman badge they are really scratching their heads!

Saw your comments re the second kiddy (congrats by the way) and thought I'd offer my experience. Have had a two door car myself for daily duties now for the past 3 years (my son is four, daughter two). It was a GT-R, so not sure what the space differences are, but we had a second 'family' for regular family like duties (V6 Camry Wagon). Since then I had to replace the GT-R with a Silvia (costing too much) but found that with both we could fit both a baby seat and booster seat in the back. Getting them in there was difficult sometimes but that's a small price to pay to keep your baby.

Anyway, now that my daughter is climbing in to the seat by herself, we recently got a GT-R (R32) for my wife to use as a daily driver. Boost space in the 'R is good for and enough for our purposes. My wife loves the car to bits and almost cried when the engine let go recently. Anyway, just thought I'd offer you my thoughts on the subject of kids and 2-door ownership. Keep the '30 and just have the X-Trail for family duties. Every now and then chuck the kids in the back of the '30 and go cruising.

      You're not the first person that's said that about this car lol. A Touring wagon GT in Spark yellow mica would be the dog's danglies 😆 I will keep an eye out for a future purchase for sure. The seats are almost like the OEM Recaros... electric adjustment for fore/aft and tilt movements except reclining.

      Yes!! I love these! It's a shame its not the wagon though!   Thank everything that's holy that it doesn't have the interior of the Aussie delivered ones. Those seats are so much nicer.

      2001 BE5D Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (3rd gen) EJ208 (pink injector) Twin Turbo 280PS 5-speed manual Full time 4WD "RSK" grade which means all of the above LQC option which means stock rear spoiler  I got it primarily to export to someone outside Japan who was interested. These BE5 Legacy B4 RSKs are going through a bit of a resurgence right know in Japan as they are one of the few cars from the "turbo, manual, RWD/4WD, 280hp gentleman's agreement era" cars that don't require stupid money to purchase. Which for some people might be a good opportunity to get as a base for restoration. If I can't find anyone to purchase it I will certainly be doing that myself over the long term. Why? Because it's properly fast in stock form, handles well enough for a GT sedan, there's still enough aftermarket and (if you can wait a while) genuine part support to make it a restoration candidate (<-- that will only get worse over time so it's a case of do it now or choose get a BL5 4th Gen). Mechanically it's fine, has only 89,200kms on the odometer. The problem with this car is that the body and exterior trims are weathered from at least the last 10 years being parked outdoors. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner was the one that had it for 14 years and barely drove it, had a low-speed front impact (which didn't damage anything behind the radiator support) and got it fixed and sold it. The 2nd owner put most of the kms on it and parked it outside for the last 10 years, hence the door rubbers have seen better days but if you overlook those cosmetic details, it presents pretty nicely. There is some minor rust on the LH rear wheel arch which I'll have looked at too at some stage.  Also as you'd expect from a car this age, the clear top coat is gone, leaving a satin finish on the roof.  Mechanically it's fine (as you would expect from a car with less than 100K kms) but the steering does feel slightly vague around the centre position at higher speeds. So first on the list is to get the steering rack bushes looked at. There's also the Lock button on the remote which doesn't work, but the Open button does.... it means that the anti-theft system thinks it's always open? It seems like if you open the car and don't start the engine within 3 mins or so the anti-theft kicks in again without any beeps or signals. So if you got to start it after that, it won't. You have to push the open button again. That's how I understand it anyway. Just a small irritation but not a big problem to sort out. There's only one mod, the Wangan SPL muffler. Just a tad louder than stock. It's a really good mod for those who don't want to wake the neighbours but still want to hear a more prominent unequal length header EJ20 sound. Anyway I hope to get all those things done eventually, that is unless someone wanted to import it to their country from Japan (where I live). I'm open for negotiations as I really would like a Skyline... but this will definitely suffice in the meantime 🙂 *Disclaimer: This is how I picked it up from the dealer, minus the stuff on the back seat. I haven't cleaned the engine bay or done a thorough exterior clean, aside from spray painting the wipers.
