tRUkbOY
Just mostly out of curiosity I am wondering if any 260RS owners could tell me what their part number on their engine ECU. I would assume that it will be 23710-26U00 or similiar (ala R33 GTR) and obviously RS-Four will be 23710-0V??? but my engine ECU number is not even close to either of those. I suspect it is R34 but not sure................ Anyone? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/ Share on other sites
AlexCim
Stageas use hybrid R33/R34 ECU's. The plug on the RS4's is R34, so id assume they did similar with the 260RS's. You might also find that the tune on a GTR ecu vs a 260RS ecu is also slightly different. What they did in RS4's was improve torque a little at the compromise of some top end power. tRUkbOY
I know but everything I have found wiring wise, as I have just replaced EVERY scrap of wiring in my RS-Four with 260RS wiring was XXXXX-26UXX which is R33 yet the ECU was 23710-0A??? which is R34-ish. I should mention I suspect the engine is an R34 GTR unit Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2977349 Share on other sites
BoyWhoCriedWolf
Has it got red cam covers and is the 260 a s1 or s2? Aliex is correct in saying that the ecu is a hybrid. GRIM_R32
hi trukboy, Im assuming you have an RS4 that you are trying to make a 260 replica with? I dont know if a 96 model 260 was ever made, but mine is a 97 model, which branches the gap between the last 33gtr being made and the start of the 34s, mine has parts from both, is a 33 block but the clutch set up is 34, so they definitely made a hybrid unit when doing making the 260. Where abouts is the number you are looking for? I can see if i can check the computer in my 260 for you. Your valley cover is a bit intersting having the GTR cover on it as the 260 wasnt released with that cover, not being a gtr of course. R33 GTR and r34 GTR clutches are the same, both pull type The engine could just have a R34 cam cover, but the best thing would be to FAST the engine number Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2980734 Share on other sites

The change over was on the late r32 GTR's 1994 models, not the R33's FAST is the Nissan parts number system You can enter a Vin number or engine number to verify what type of engine it is or if the car was a genuine 260RS etc or a fake Some people on here have it installed Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2981206 Share on other sites

The number I want to check is on the ECU itself behind the LH kick panel. Unfortunately I don't have FAST but if I can find the engine number perhaps someone can check it for me. AlexCim
Whats the issue with the ECU mate? Get a PowerFC for the thing, sorted out perfect from the get go. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2981414 Share on other sites

captinsane
JUST Curious... with all the issues us stagea owners seem to have with out ECU's having carptacularly uniquer pinout diagrams etc... why don't we just get an entire R33 loom and ECU and re-wire the bloody thing... I havn't done much elec- work, but i guess it could be easier tan mucking around with pins et.al...and then having to go back and muck around when it comes time to sell and all that other stuff... why not just do a loom swaop and then it would be swap in swap out? *remembers that a loom costs money* *remembers that he would then either have to re-solder his entire loom near the firewall or run wires all the way to ex-temp sensors, AFM etc etc which are going to inevitably be in stupidly diffucult to reach places...* ...decides to muck around with pinout stuff on a piggy back computer* never mind Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2981578 Share on other sites

GRIM_R32
Hey Trukboy, I checked under the lefthand kick panel, number on the computer is 23710 0A903 and below that has R585 A1 7Y20. Dont know if that clarifies anything for you? Cheers, Ben Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/160345-260rs-engine-ecu/#findComment-2984287 Share on other sites

Thats all I needed. Confirms everything I needed to know. Cheers for that. Just means the 260's still run a hybrid C34/R34 ECU. stasis
i had my tuner installed the ECU for me no probs. I dont have the car with me ATM so i cant check the ECU's code but you sorted it out already thats good. So does the R33 and 34 share the same ECU? AlexCim
No, they do not. However, the Stageas (irrespective of spec level) run R33/R34 hybrid version ECU's.
