Car Prep Help ? Any Info ?

Hey Guys

I have a 1989 R32 GTST that the paint has started to show its age on and has started peeling paint off when i removed my old side skirts etc.

I have since decided with my dad to give the car a nice but basic respray in the standard nissan skyline colour kg1 (i think its called?) because it looks like crap at the moment.

My Questions

1. How far do i rub the car back? to undercoat or metal? hand sand or just use a orbital sander? or use a paint removal liquid?

2. Can anybody please post a step by step procedure on how to prep the body properly as its my first time?

3. Can anyone give me any tips about what stuff to use for sanding back etc (grit size) and bodyfiller brand etc?

(My dad is spraying the body as he's done this before)

Any help would be really appreciated at the moment! As its my first go at this and i want to be as helpful as possible to my dad?
