hey guys. i blew my headgasket on track on saturday night in my cefiro. 1st time out since i bought the car, and it blew. atm its got cam, 25/30 turbo, gtr fuel pump. thats really about it engine wise. i took it to the mechanic and it was running lean so now its got a fuel pressure reg. i was gonna do gtr injectors soon. since i blew the head gasket, theres no point in opening the lid, new gasket, and closing up again. so i thought why not put a few goodies in there. what do u suggest i should do to the motor to just make it SCREAM as a drift car. just be able to THRASH it on track, i dont mean thrash in a bad way, but just make it take a beating. dont need more than 250kw, it was making 195 before head gasket went on 17 pound.

so basically i want a very strong engine, all internals strong. so i can keep it at 250kw and make it love to scream on the track. i really think that if i do it once i may as well do it right and get it running sweet.

help me out guys :) i know its gonna cost alot..... i cant really afford anything over 5 grand.

Just put a set of pistons in there and good bearings.

Make sure the crank/rods are tested before reinstalling it. Just incase there is undue stress which isnt a good idea to re-use them.

Slight port/tidy up of the head and thats about it really.

Not a lot required to hold 250rwkw reliably in the RB20. Just good pistons/bearings seems to be the go :)

That should be smack on your budget there too, thats if you remove/install the motor yourself.

Im with Nismoid. A freshen up of the bottom end with good bearings and some 40-80thou oversized pistons. Rather then headwork i would simply match port the manifolds and clean up the casting of the std head.

I would tweak the oil pump with a higher rate spring to get a bit more pressure in the system. Sell the 2530 and grab a TD06 setup. Similar response but way more power.

But in all seriousness...while the engine is out i would have the mechanic inspect the motor. Odds are you will just need a new head gasket and you can use your 5k for entry,fuel, oil and enjoying your car.

At the power you are chasing it is well within the window of where an RB20 can reliably run. The money could be best spent making sure you are running the type of ecu that the best tuner in your area can use

What sort of oil pressure would you look at achieving?

I bought a s/h oil pump that was an new condition (no wear) from a blown rb25det with forgy's. Bad tuning killed it.

Over ~3500-4000rpm it runs ~85psi. When cold it pushes 100psi. :S

A few mates have rb20det pumps and they tend to run around 70psi over 3500-4000rpm.

My car makes pretty good oil pressure. I am puttin gmy electronic gauge back on this week so will know exactly what it runs. As for an ideal i have no idea, al i know is that all the strong and reliable Vic GTRs have bloody high oil pressure when you look at thye factory gauge:)

Yep those readings were from the stock guage. Which *when* they are working correctly if fairly spot on compared to a mechanical hks guage.

So whats your stock guage read? Stock pump or did you shim the spring?

With Castrol 10w60 oil at high rpm mine sits only just under the 8 on the stock guage, when cold it pushes over 8. too thick. :S

      Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?

      You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

      Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side.
