Ladies and Gentlemen, up for grabs is one of the premiere subwoofers available on the market today, the Focal Utopia 27WX. Hand made in France, this subwoofer has a diameter of 11" or 270mm, with individual red magnets and chrome finish on the basket.

Regarded worldwide as one of the best sounding subs ever made, they retail in Australia for $1054. Enjoying daily music at 250RMS, these subs will excel with power in excess of 400RMS for music, with the recommended max rated at 750RMS.

The voice coil is single 3 ohm.

The sub was used for 100 hours in a sealed enclosure, run-in and babied.

I was looking at getting a 12" Alpine R Series Sub... how do you reckon this would compare as far as depth goes?

mounting depth it would be comaparable....

SQ and SPL it will shit all over it...

Excellent... I knew they were good. But i like the 12" over the 10"... and the 11" is in between so hopefully it will whip the alpine in bass depth

nah i mean the depth of the bass... how low in the frequency range that it can go and still produce sound well enough.

like a 10" will die at say 35hz... and 12" can reach say 27hz

Well the absolute lowest this will go is 25Hz, so if you port it take that into account.

Play a 27Hz sine wave and see how it goes.

alpine stuff used to be real good, but now they make their stuff with less quality control and made it more mainstream and they r getting qorse and worse!

what do you think of their Amplifiers? I've always found them very good... but get an Audison and you'll see what a good amp is!

since u r in melbourne come down tonight to the private sale at freeway car audio in malvern, lots of good gear on sale, 7pm-11pm.

My mate that works at freeway has the same focal sub with audison amps and is worth near 20k with the rest of the equipement and installation, so yes i have heard audison amp's

i dropped in to the sale... busy as hell in there. Asked the focal rep a few questions about the 11" sub and what amps etc are good. I can't wait to get a sub back in my car... especially one as good as a Focal Utopia!!!
