Hi all

I have sourced a supplier for new old stock of Yokohama racing slicks. These tyres are the old control tyres as used in the Porsche Cup races etc by the GT3 guys.

Bad news is there is only one size and limited numbers

size is 280x680x18 (actual tyre width is 290mm outer to outer and the rolling diameter is 680 overall in respect to aspect ratio.

You will need minimum 9.5 inch rims to use these tyres too but the pricing is very keen if I buy all the stock of them

there is 23 tyres in total available and if I buy them all to use/resell the per tyre GB price will be around the $300 per tyre mark worst case.

Not too sure if many here will be able to use these but you may know fellow races etc that can use them for practice or track days etc. I will also post on SAU forum aswell.

So if anyone is keen let me know and hope to have pics tomorrow I am going there to get a set so I can try them out and if all good will most likely buy them all or most of them at least.

This is my first time advertising here on SAU I am a current member and drive a silver 300zx TT some of you would have seen with you guessed it ZX2NV plates. Go to aus300zx.com to see my past trading history etc with dealings with members on that forum.

Cheers

Jason

Just be careful to check the date of manufacture for these tyres as with all racing tyres they have a best before date.

Any idea on how long etc. I have heard if they heat cycle from being in hot warheouses etc they can not be that good and thought if I tried a set on my car I would soon find out if they were okay etc.

What do you think is acceptable

Cheers

they usally have a bar code type number on them, i know with the TOYO tyres the last 4 dig are the year - ie.2004

What do you think is too old or is it just better to go off the use by date as such. I have a set of Hoosier R3 at the moment and they are S04 which means 04 year I think and they seem fine and actually some 4 or so seconds quicker a lap than street tyres. If these slicks are really old and maybe past there use by date do you think its worth it

Thanks for your help

Jason

Jason, please read the group buy rules thread at the top of the page and update your first with the required information asap.

At a minimum you need to post the details of the supplier providing the items for the group buy, and a clear start and end date.

Thank you

Thanks for the heads up re posting rules etc. At this stage I posted as an EOI or expression of interest thread to see if anyone would be interested in this type of tyre. There is no actual group buy as yet I am waiting on some more regarding the tyres and use by dates etc and also testing a set personally to see if they are worth it even if cheap.

So let me know if this will suffice for now or if you would still like me to list more detaisl liek a timeline etc as per the guidelines.

Cheers

Jason

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
