Hi,

I'm most likely buying an ACT registered R32 gtst. The guy is getting an inspection for RWC for me however I am sure the front tyres won't pass so I will have to take it through again.

I have searched on here but have not found a definitive answer whether I will have to take it to Dickson to get it transferred to my name. On the Rego ACT website it says all imported cars have to go through Dickson, however if its already been through Dickson to get ACT rego I don't see why they would need to go through it again. There seems to be a lot of people on here saying different things.

Does anyone have the definitive answer for this?

Cheers,

Adrian

If it has mods like a front mount and the like, most will knock it back and send you there, unless they can convince Dickson that Dickson would be happy with it, which they usually get audited later and you have to go to Dickson anyways, so go to Dickson and it will save you any hassles later. If it passes there, then your home free (usually).

Good luck.

Kwyjibo.... Tom(drift majik's mate) took his GTR to kambah and got the inspection done there. He did need to go to Dickson to get a ID check, I'm not sure if this is because it is a import or/and it had NSW plates on it before.

And... If that guy does fail the RWC, you have upto 1 month to fix it and take it back to get it passed. So basically, it should pass where ever he takes it too. If it's to dickson, they'll write you whats wrong like every other place.

yeh but like i said, dependant on the mods, unless they have permission from Dickson, they cant do the inspection, which is really hard to get and they usually get called back later anyway, plus its not really expensive to go over dickson and then you know if you have anything dangerous that an otherwise possibly dodgy place might miss or overlook.

If you go to Dickson and get the Mad Scotsman down your throat, take cover.

God he's an awful person.

if you require an engineer, pm me and i'll let you know who it might not be a good idea to see (purely because the Scotsman has a massive beef with him. - Not because of his work or pricing).

It costs the same price to go to Dickson or any other place for a RWC.

If the workshop accepts your car and does the RWC, there is no reason to goto Dickson unless the RTA wants something more. I have read on the RTA ACT website and it does say all imports must go through dickson, although a lot have not.

If the guy your buying it off gets a inspection done other than Dickson, you take it back to there in 1month to get it passed. The workshop should have never taken the responsibility for inspecting the car if they were not allowed to.

Thanks,

Yeh he is getting it done somewhere(not at Dickson) and they know it is an import so I guess its no big deal. Only issues I can see is the exhaust is 3" and may be slightly too loud, and it has a boost controller but that will be easy enough to take out.
