Hi Guys!

I bet you couldn't wait to read this! VicStreetScene is inviting you, your ride and your friends to our 20TH OFFICIAL CRUISE!

May helped us play host to an awesome rain free, 400+ car cruise night that ventured from Mitcham to Scoresby to Berwick and finished up at Albert Park. 400 cars! What a feat!

With that, let's get moving into our June cruise and get the word spread for what we hope to be the BIGGEST most exciting cruise from VicStreetScene yet!

In June VicStreetScene will once again be organising not one but Two display sections, to show off a few of the tidy rides that want to join in the fun at VicStreetScene's 20th official! If you are interested in getting your ride into this display, be sure to send me a PM with the details of your car and a picture and me and the team will see what we can do to get you in!

VicStreetScene will also be organising a variety of other things to keep you all entertained so be sure to check back here to hear of any updates that come up leading up to our cruise on Saturday June 30!

So let's get down to the nitty gritty:

What's happenin? VicStreetScene's 20th Official Cruise

When's it happenin? Saturday June 30

What time? Meet up at 7:30pm, and head off to our second destination at 9:30

Where abouts? HomeHQ Nunawading/Mitcham. You will find this between Mitcham and Springvale Roads on Maroondah Highway.

What to bring: Gold coin donation for a map (goes to printing maps and keeping our forums running), moolah for a hot VicStreetScene sticker and a t-shirt, a jacket in case it gets cold, and a big smile and a good attitude to enjoy a crazy night out cruisin!

And now for the serious parts:

VicStreetScene has cruise guidelines! I'm sure that most of you know them by now (can be found at http://www.vicstreetscene.com/viewtopic.php?t=259), but in general let me sum it up: Unlawful behaviour will come at the obvious consequence. Any person caught driving in an unlawful manner will have their plates handed over to the authorities and it will be up to them to deal with you..

We are a cruise club. Not a hoon club, not a drag club, not a burnout club. We're out to have a good night of cruising and checking out cars. What we are NOT about is attracting attention of the unwanted kind, or putting our club in the spotlight thanks to the people who think they have something to prove to the other cruisers.

Please also take care of your own rubbish. It doesn't look good when a club with 300 cars (with up to 600 people in attendance) is not making use of rubbish bins. It is not a good look!

<span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'> SO! </span>

Make sure you tell your friends, and come join us for the best cruising in town! All cars are welcomed, so that means you!

We at VicStreetScene hope to see you at HomeHQ on Saturday June 30 at 7:30PM!

Cheers

VicStreetScene Staff

I just thought I'd let you all know what happened on this cruise...

Despite the fact that it was raining, we managed to get an absolutely MASSIVE turn-out at HOME HQ, finally hitting the 500 cars mark. We had The Red Bull Promo Girls handing out FREE red bull and we had Mark from Polexpresso Mobile Cafe with deliciously hot coffee's for us all to enjoy. Not only was the amount of cars unbeliveable, but the quality was intense and absolutely no police dramas. All in all, a fantastic turn out.

Unfortunately the rest of the night didn't go so smoothly, due to the raining weather we opted for undercover carparks and Security were none to happy. The Police were given no choice but to ask us to leave, thankfully they were understanding and were happy not to hand out any defects if everyone co-operated and behaved.

The next cruise will be held in early August, hopefully the weather will be a lot better then and we wont have the same dramas.

I'll keep you all updated on when it is, I really hope to see you all there!

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
