Hey guys,

I got a series 1 R33 and I'm about to change all the fluids. ie. gearbox, engine, and diff oil, Coolant, powersteering fluid and brakes as well.

I was hoping that someone could give me a run down on the best way to drop my powersteering fluid and put fresh stuff in/bleed the system etc.

Also there is a tiny little reservior under the bonnet to the right side of the brake master cylinder, what is it and what is the best fluid to put in it and how do I do it?

Please help, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks heaps )

Tiny little reservoir is clutch fluid.

This is the way I do the powersteering - others might do it differently. I undo one of the hoses form the powersteering reservoir, drop that fluid, suck the rest out using a mitivac, put hose back on, fill it, jack the front of the car up, and turn wheel side to side. Easy. I know that my method doesn't get out all the fluid, but it doesn't matter. My fluid was clean, so refreshing it was just for fun anyways. If its dirty, I do my method a couple times.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
