hey guys,

im finally able to get some coilovers, bit stuck on what to choose, been looking at

HSD, ISC, G4 from just jap and Racing Logic. PLease let me know your experiences with any of these or recommend other coilovers at a similar price,

G4s, D2s, Racing Logics are all very similar products. I have D2s on my car and have been happy with them.

Best value for money is the HSDs, which I can get you from $1330 for the street version.

Yeah I've got the D2 aka Nex coilovers on my GTS4, they are nice, very firm at their lowest setting :) and look bloody good

Compared to my Tein streets with HKS top hats in my GTS-t though, there is no comparison, I love the Teins, but they won't fit my GTS4 and I'm selling the T

I'd so go for D2s if you are tight on money, if you have a bit to spend though, go on nengun and spend round $1800 on some teins :whistling: you won't regret it

you cant beat SK's bilstein package.

And you cant beat that quote! Spot on, bang for buck it is by far the best suspension package you can buy. I've got it on mine with a few extras, and I have had a few ex-race car drivers drive it, and they were just blow away with how nice a ride it was, and how well it handled.

End of the day, its your money, spend it how you will. But its probably worth the wait and save a bit more and get the good stuff.

thanks guys ill take your advise and save some more, which i already have but i thought some of the cheap coilovers are decent but ive done some reseach and they dont seem to be all that good, i was keen on the isc ones which apparently denzo uses in his drift car, but im turned off them now, i was just on nengun and i came across some teins which i originaly didnt want due to their twin tube design, but they have released their mono-flex coilovers, anyone have any experience with them or also buddy club??, and i would go for sk's bilsteins setup but i really want to have the adjustibilty of coilovers, thanks again for everyone input

What do you mean by adjustablity?

Hight adjustable? Because you can do that with SKs kit. Or do you mean dampening adjustable? If thats what you mean, you dont really need it, and its just another thing to go wrong. Its just braging rights. My oppinion at least.

im mean the seperate height adjustment and preload on the spring for fine tuning, and i also have plenty of different springs from my old mans race car, if need stiffer ones to suit coilovers, what internal diameter are in SKs kit. Does anyone know what spring rates SKs setup uses, I appreciate your oppinion for sure thanks

SK uses Whiteline lowered springs, these are in the range of about 2.5-3kg/mm. You will not be able to swap rectangular coils out of a race car into these unless you buy the coilover conversion kit too (about an extra $1000 on top).

If you mean base height and preload adjustment, they're pretty overrated. Height adjustment is height adjustment, the only time it will make a difference is if you have so much preload that it is still preloaded with the weight of the car being supported by the spring. This is a huge amount of preload and you will not have to worry about that.

All the cheap branded coilovers are pretty piss poor. The Tein Monoflex however, I have heard very good things about, they may be worth looking into if you're adamant about getting coilovers.

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
